Yay! Finally something horsey on UA-cam. Sorry if I accidentally spam comments.

Yep I have an 11yro reiner now. We still show her and she fine. She has been well cared for her whole life and now is when it shows. People cannot believe she is 11 and still out there scoring like the 3yros. Any horse of any dicipline will be ruined without proper care. Don't point until you understand the facts. You look after anything properly and it will last a long time, this is the same with reiners. Not all of us mistreat our horses.
You people that think all reiners wreak their horses are crazy. I actually have an 11yro reiner that has no issues at all. Every dicipline has the ability to wreak any horse if they aren't cared for correctly. Reiners can be rode younger becuase they don't grow to be as tall. English horses aren't started until they are 5 or 6 so that is why you don't see 3yro's comin in with problems. Dont point the finger til you get the facts. U can prevent a lot of problems with any horse with proper care.
Now who is emotional? You don't see me getting personal or insulting. Please read carefully: note that I said I didn't see YOUNGSTERS with serious injuries in the English disciplines. I never said that horses used in English disciplines don't get injured. However, the English disciplines generally start the horses at a later date, allowing them to attain greater physical maturity before putting such stress on them. Read up skeletal maturation in the horse -- and please try to be civil!
Interesting that you didn't see anything bad happen to any of the horses in the english disciplines. Funny though, I've seen many horses get life threatening injuries from jumping than reining. Actually, many horses have died, like Theodore O'Conor and Hickstead. Its none of your business what age people start their horses. If you don't like it, too bad. If you don't like reining, too bad. If you truly want to stop reining, then get your ass off UA-cam and do something about it.
Not emotion. A decade of working for a vet, seeing young, injured horses come in, looking at x-rays on THREE YEAR OLDS and seeing radiographically confirmed arthritis due to overuse. Didn't see that in youngsters from the English disciplines. Saw FAR too many from the reining and cutting world. People talked about having started them as young as 17 months...made me sick, but I couldn't say anything. You look at the x-rays of destroyed babies and see if you get "emotional" like me.
Cry me a river. I feel like your acting out of emotion. I've met thousands of reining horses at these high shows, NRHA, Congress, and AQHA World Show. Many of them, have been reining for at least 13 years. All of them are still going strong, except one of them. Well that was because of a trailer accident, but still. Please familiarize yourself with the sport of reining, just going to 1 clinic doesn't make you an expert. And if you don't do it, in truth, then really its none of your business.
There will always be exceptions, but when it is EXTREMELY COMMON for horses in a given sport to break down, you're doing something wrong. Reining horses experience a high rate of injury. Fact. Riding horses at a young age makes them more likely to break down. Fact. Back in the day, when horses were used for the real world, you started them LIGHTLY at 3, then kicked them out for a couple of years to mature before really starting to work them at five. Skeletal maturity occurs around five. THINK.
Some horses are unexpectedly crippled from injuries, etc. Some people rein horses at an early age and then break down. I know a reiner who is 19 and still reins, and is going strong with no problems what so ever. All horses are different and go unsound at different ages depending on disposition, injuries, etc.
@davidkozelsky I don't get goose bumps when I watch reining...I get a cold chill down my spine. SO many of the horses in the reining industry are crippled by what they are asked to do. I was recently covering a clinic (as a journalist) given by a major reining star, and one gal was talking about a mare she is only breeding now "because she crippled early" -- as if becoming crippled was EXPECTED, but not always so soon. Made me sick to my stomach.
@AAAtammy i agree !!
@Weaponsmaster8595 i dont know why they dont like trash's bloodlines he is AMAZIN!!
@Weaponsmaster8595
AMAZING- Harry why can't you go that fast!! :P
I love that horse!!!! GRR I WANT HIM!!!
LOVE the Trash horses!! But I'm not the biggest fan of Shawn, but he manages to get good horses. I wish he would be a bit lighter on reins, although Trash horses can be difficult and have their own mind. Not as new user friendly, might be the way to say it.
Definetly an amaing video. :)
i love Lexi she is such an amazing horse :) They made a Breyer Model Horse of her, So prudey.......
Piękny koń :) bardzo mi się podoba występ !!!!
Um, wow. Need I say more.
Shawn will never cease to amaze me. And to think, I know so many people who despise everything to do with Trash's bloodline. Hah! Look at this horse and tell me this isn't a champion!
