    Instead of using top watering systems that require a lot of fine-tuning, you can soak your wheatgrass seeds for a day and use only bottom watering after spreading those on the trays. Another thing is, you don't really need soil for cultures like wheatgrass or alfalfa. Wheatgrass has really strong roots and grows up to 10-15 cm or about 5" without any soil.

    I've watched all your videos and you're inspiring me a lot 🙏 Regarding the siphon: Have you thought about what happens if the water level, for whatever reason, couldn't rise to the desired level? I have no experience with growing greens and I don't know if this is even a thing but it just came to my mind that the trays might sit in water Regarding your lights: Are you still working on this project? I'm interested in lights like you have build them mainly because of the cost factor since I'm just thinking about getting into growing / automating and over 100 bucks for some LED's is a bit expensive for me

    Great setup, dude! I am looking into doing something similar. Somethings maybe you could look into: 1. Mesh bottom grow trays for hydroponics. Allows more of a root system to come into contact with the grow solution. 2. Capacitive moisture probes that you can put under your substrate to be able to finely monitor substrate or root moisture content. 3. Individual flood and drain solenoids for each 10x20 tray. This will allow you to vary watering as per crop recipe. 4. Redundancy shutoffs or alarms for fan and light failure (current monitoring maybe) or photodiode, and airflow switches. 5. Flood mitigation. Level sensors where if a valve gets stuck on, it would shut off pumps and activate drains as to not flood your grow tent or house. When I learned PLC's a long time ago in school, we always had to think of people, production, and property damage risk mitigation through automation. I wish I knew how to program like you do! Amazing job! Keep up the great work!

    Neat system. I would worry about something going wrong during the night with my luck LOL. I always take a picture of the water valve so when I wake up at 2 am with the sinking feeling I left the water on, I can prove to myself it is off and go back to sleep. I guess that becomes a fear when you top off the pool and forget and leave it on all night 🙃

    • @klorofila
      @klorofila 2 роки тому

      yeah things have gone wrong during the day and at night haha but that i one of the reasons I use a grow tent: the bottom is waterproof, so no leaks on my wooden floor ;) my reservoir is so small that even if it all ends up all spilling, it would still be contained in the tent

    • @papablueshirt

    Your water level control design look to be an inversed toilet filling design, I'm drunk and it took me 30 second to guess how a system similar to yours would look like, then you calculated the opening flow ratio to be equal to your pump GPM, to keep the same water level, a slight angle and aquaphobic coating and you should be able to stretch you watering cycle before cleaning from 20 to 35%If had to guess you have a something smilar to a telsa valve design to control your waterflow and reduce the amount of turbulence your roots have to deal with but I'm reaching at that point. Anyway, the barrier of entry is too low for that specific one, hardware is stupidly easy to copy and is not a viable base to build your business strategy at such a low level of engineering, you should focus on the software side, your goal should be to make it the most convenient possible to use and assemble. Love your work, you were an invaluable source of inspiration at my lowest, All the love.

    • @klorofila
      @klorofila 2 роки тому

      Thank you for the message! You got some of it right and some of it wrong ;) over time I found simpler tricks to make it work with any GPM (so not tied to a specific pump). You are correct that this stuff is easy to copy and that is why I stopped showing some of it. I am trying to make is simple for the user and small changes seem obvious but are hard to find haha. I think that my drain reached that point and I am looking into patents. Thank you for the kind message and I look forward to seeing your next comment Michel :)

    • @micheljussey5264
      @micheljussey5264 2 роки тому

      @@klorofila @EcoTech Fr the GPM you are right, the solution is pretty simple actually, the GPM never really mattered at least just the maximum amount you are able to drain within your system specs; the water level is the most important factor, the opening size should be tied to the water level to achieve parity. I have some design input I'd like to give but youtube isn't best channel for this kind of talk.

      @@klorofila Get all the non necessary outside of the tent, why are you still working tthis kind of growth tent design, I thought you would have switch to coated endoskeleton design by now, the board have no need to be in contact with the environment nor to be tested when your first design principle should have been durability. I have the basics of a design that would allow the durability by isolating all your electronic from the water and would make it easily scalable. I'm thrilled to see the evolution of your work.
