Still playing the blues. Great stuff & well done.
wow great guitar and singing!
Cmon man. Taylor is too a rock star!
😅Not according to tiktok she's not...and tiktok is the bible!
Awesome! 🙌 💜
Sounds really good. Definitely well recorded. Love the classic chill vibe.
Martin - young listener here and I just want to say I really love these videos. Very refreshingly unscripted and organic. Really interesting to hear your perspective on the industry now after all these years in music. Could listen to you talk for hours. In a future episode I'd love to hear you touching on your thoughts about "early" rockers - Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, the like. I've always quite liked the stripped back and raw sounding underground garage rock of the 90s (The Headcoats, The Mummies, etc) but I've only recently been appreciating their roots in the early rock and blues of the 50s. Cheers
Hey thank you for your kind words and your contribution. And if you've subscribed , thank you for that too. Interesting point you make about the raw striped back records of the 50's/60's. I often think about how these days records are so perfectly in tune (thanks to autotune) and perfectly in time (thanks to digital quantisation). But music isn't a digital medium, it's analogue. And we humans don't beat in perfect time. Our heart beat, temperature and frame of mind are moving all the time and constantly changing. We human are analogue hahaha...So if I decide to do a Vlog about that, which I inevitably will, I'll be talking about the so called progress of the recording process. In fact...might even be the next one! haha
@@martinabrahamsmusic2141 Nice, looking forward to it! And yes, I was a subscriber within the first 5 minutes of clicking on one of your vids ;)
Taylor Swift is not a rock star, she is a pop star.
@@candelise very true...goes to illustrate there aren't any rock stars anymore...I could've mentioned Kirk Hamnet, I guess...he doesn't throw TVs out of the window either 😂 Good point well made and thank you for your contribution and if you've subscribed, thank you for that too 😊👍
☝️ I'm curious what you would think of my old-school songs I'm recording now. These songs tell the story of 70s-born tragic suggering turned modern life of happiness. Hitting the studio in Dec 2024. Currently I've posted songs from home and local performances. I toured in the 90's and then life hit. I'm recording and releasing 50 nostalgic feel songs from our generation, aiming for 10 a year for the next 5 years. What do you think? Am I capturing that deep feel from our era? @@minners71 I'll check 'em out. Thanks 👍
They really must do a Keith Moon biopic whilst people with first hand accounts of his exploits are still around. We've already lost Moonie's old friend Jeff Beck who had a ton of hilarious stories about him (driving a Hovercraft to the local Pub etc) PS Love the song!
Is Tara still there? I remember reading that Kevin Godley from 10cc later lived there.
@@doccyclopz Thank you 😊

Interesting. I believe Keith had an AC Frua car. That might have been the one. Rare vehicle.
@@rmdomainer9042 Hiya and thank you for joining the conversation. As for the car, it wasn't his, someone had left it with him and a friend of mine suggested it might be a Chevrolet Camero. It was an American sports muscle car and they apparently had fibre glass bodies . And once again, thanks for your input...and if you've subscribed, thanks for that too 👍

You say you can't imagine TayTay chucking a TV out of a hotel window, but then, she's not a rock band. I can't imagine her 60s equivalents, Lulu and Cilla doing that either. But you're right about how everything is on film. It's a kind of constraint isn't it? Who'd have thought! She's not a classic rock star but I am very fond of some of her stuff, Carolina is fantastic.
Cilla? You're kidding right. She was the original fire extinguisher in the hotel lobby girl! 🤣😂

I think there is a stat that since the year 2000, the total amount of weeks that ANY band has been at number one in the chart is.............three. Debate that.
I believe Rick Beato did a video on this topic.
Why no bands anymore? 1. Streaming 2. Ticketmaster/Live Nation… end of story. You literally can’t make a living playing in a band. The record industry should have died 20 years ago…but much like a parasitic infection it has mutated and figured out ways to steal money from artists though 369 deals. Might be able to afford to tour if it’s just you. But 4/5 guys? Forget it.
Is the correct answer. I'm glad someone knows the truth on here.
I was listening to the Rockonteurs podcast with Adam Clayton of U2. He said that the band were on their third album and living at home with their parents because they still didn't have any money. Likewise, part of the reason Bill Wyman left the Stones was because Mick and Keef -the writers- made all the money while he Charlie and Ron made very little. Google it. And there are countless stories of bands having hit albums and being world famous and having no money, unless either they were the writers in the band or the writers shared the publishing with them. The only difference now is that the monetisation comes from different sources: expensive concert tickets, merchandising, some social media platforms and if you're lucky, getting a tune on a popular video game. And the people doing the ripping off aren't so much dodgy managers and record companies, but as you say, the crooked organisations who are running the show. So back to my point. There are no actual bands because the paradigm of how a kid starts making music is the thing that's changed. He might hook on to other kids at school who are into making music but they don't pester their parents for a drum kit and get down the village hall with their mates anymore. They've got home studios on their phones. And yes...of course there are exceptions. Look at the post from @mals4125 in these comments. He says there's a healthy band scene in Melbourne. A whole city where it's going on. And finally. Thanks for your contribution. It's what the Vlog is about. And if you've subscribed, thank you for that too. Cheers, Martin
@@shadowman8786 Hiya and thank you for taking the time to comment. In answer to it, I've put my point to Pete and if you've subscribed, thank you for that too. Cheers, Martin
Hey Martin, in the UK I think what you're saying is true to an extent, but maybe I'd look at it from a different angle. Don't ask 'where are the bands' but more along the lines of 'where are the venues, promoters, rehearsal spaces, record labels, and... fans'. Without a healthy gig economy, I don't think a band stands much of a chance of getting to your ears these days, so you really have to dig deep and look for them (and yes you will find them!). Not to mention all the other factors that complicate things e.g rehearsal rooms being bulldozed, venues being stretched and unable to take risks, and bands having to 'compete' with your bedroom solo artists who can do just about everything cheaper/more efficiently than a band. Long story short, if you want more bands, you have to go find them, support them, and champion them!
I couldn't agree more but...this is only a ten minute Vlog and I say 'umm' and 'err' and 'you know what I mean' a lot, so give me a break George 😅 Actually, you're completely right, of course. There are loads of contributing factors but my basic point was that the point of creation ie, some kids getting together to form a band has shifted. The paradigm has shifted. As you say, there needs to be support and facilities but there needs to be the need for those things. When I was coming up there was always a couple of school bands, or local lads (interestingly, I can't remember any girls in those bands) who'd put something together and we used to rehearse in all sorts of places. Someone's house, the local village hall, I've even rehearsed in the crypt of Arundel Cathedral hahaha. But there just doesn't seem to be that enthusiasm these day and I think it's for the reasons that I've stated.Thank you for your input George. It's appreciated. It's what this Vlog is all about. Getting involved and well thought out comments like yours make it all worthwhile. Cheers

Hello lovely, thank you for your kind words and lovely to hear from you. More Vlogs and tunes on the way...stay tuned my warrior friend. xx By the way...do you have a Facebook?
I live in Melbourne Australia and feel very fortunate that there still is a strong live scene down here and would regularly find up to 100 young bands playing original music around the traps on a given Friday or Saturday. The fact we've managed to hold onto these small pub stages has gone along way to giving musicians somewhere to play and a chance of them to meet like minded people and form bands. Not so the case in Sydney where I grew up , who have seen their smaller venues close and the development of these bands go with it. I am still very hopeful of the power of music and new bands coming along.
@@mals4125 That's great to hear. 👍
Despite the fact that the yuppies have shut down inner city pubs due to noise, and the the estate agents turning venues into apartments, and worst, the shit pay, most bands can’t do it without a day job

From a Swede, from the same generation: You nailed it. Same for me. It was a year between my first guitar and my first amp. Twelve months playing an electric guitar without an amp. (But I ruined my parents stereo while waiting). Thats our generation. It's easier to be decent, but harder to be great in this digital times. Thanks for the tune.
Ah, I didn't have the technical skills to ruin my parents stereo...otherwise, who knows what trouble I could've caused! 🤣
JAPAN thats where. I'm73 myself so don't take umbrage on this comment but you may be too old for this rabbit hole. i have seen them all in MY day, the BEST day ( No? As I mention there are good bits and bad bits about both. I'm just comparing the differences and how they've occured. To a lot of people including me, it's interesting. Don't think I'm having a go at the youth though, no way am I doing that. And as for being too old... that's the point of the Vlog. You're never too old. There are no bands like the 70s and 80s hit after hit after hit after hit and on top of all the one hit wonders my God
Me and a friend of mine was talking just a couple weeks ago about where all the bands go. We were particularly talking about where all the southern rock bands at what happened is the creativity just gone
Not sure creativity has gone but the focus has definitely shifted. It's more technology based now but there's still a lot of skill involved.
