Excellent sermon rabbi, i understood the connections and the reason they were coming up from this weeks portion.

I may be uninformed but I thought the role of the rabbi was to help the congregation learn how to be guided by torah - not to confused us as to the direct meaning by brining up the deeper learnings. I learned nothing about korach or why he was good/bad let alone anything about rebellion or repentance in this sermon. They briefly said there was a fish in sheol, then started talking about themselves. Is the point this week to be like korach and care more about ourselves than our heritage? Because that seems to be my takeaway from how this was done.
