Rewired Records has a great sidechaining vst for free, but for Ableton users I strongly recommend the free max for live device "trnr.Duckling" for sidechaning! could be other m4l devices for this but this is the one ive used for a while and its great

Have you ever considered using the M4L device kick buddy, or ducker? Another alternative for being able to litterally draw your perfect compression curve regardless of what type of kick you choose to sidechain it to! Takes out the step of having to use a ghost kick which can be a hassle for any genre that isnt 4 to the floor since the kick pattern usually changes etc

Also note that some genres like phonk house and some synthwave songs porpusefully sidechain the whole kick (not just the transient) to give that pumping effect

how to fix clashing with bass and kick when sidechaining?

Just what I needed to up my neuro game, I love this. Up untill now I was winging it blind until I get something good tbh.

wasn't able to achieve this tone without the kick tight. so it wasn't very helpful for me using a different daw.

I appreciate the sound you made, but in general I don't love using vital in lofi beats because it sounds digital, acid, cold. I prefer vintage synths emulators for lo-fi sound.

UPDATE: I missed one step here, I forgot to mention that you need to bring down the Kick tight dry/wet DOWN to below 30% I think this is what is tripping a few people up. Apologies guys. 🙏

For everyone thats having trouble making this sound even remotely the same: Update your vital. I noticed his vital looked a little bit different than mine, not in terms of skin, but functional handles on MSEGs/LFOs looking different etc, a little bit of a more polished, so I assumed they had updated Vital alot since I downloaded it god knows how long ago. On the old Vital going 70 Finepitch up or down on one OSC would result in a bad out of tune sounding fartbase. On the new Vital version it sounds great as yours. EDIT: Nvm, the first steps it sounds the same but it starts to fall apart at the multiband or maybe even chorus step. Yours sounds VERY defined, very crispy and the phase cancelation makes it sound better. Mine phase cancels in a way where it just sounds muddy and not as defined. so weird man.
