I've always enjoyed photography and making videos but I never put much time into it. I am only beginning to learn how!
I got my first camera at age 14 back in 1972. I got my first video camera in 1989. That video camera only lasted a few years. I never got to edit the videos and many of them I never looked at until a few years ago. With the ease of home video editing now I'm trying to learn. I know some of these videos the quality is not good. Some the editing is horrible... but I hope to get better. I don't think I'll become a UA-cam star but I think it's fun. It's my hobby for my 60's.
My job for the past 20 years has allowed me to hear some amazing stories. One of the things I want to do with this platform is share some great stories and put that together with good videos and hope it's worth watching. This part I'm still working on. I have my ideas but putting everything together has not been as easy as I thought a few years ago.

Silver Comet Trail: Bike Ride on Sunday with Laura - Florence Road to Rockmart
This past Sunday I met my sister Laura at Florence Road, Powder Springs, Georgia. It was an easy 52 mile ride from Florence Road to Rockmart, Georgia and back. We saw a snake, tons of squirrels, lots of people on bikes, walking and running, plus a skateboard race.
Skateboard Race at 3:59
Pumpkinvine Trestle at 1:18 and 3:29
Brushy Mountain Tunnel at 1:30 and 3:08
Rockmart, GA at 2:16
We were both thinking of California that morning. Sunday 6.2.2019 was the start of the week long AidsLifeCycle ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. We had done that ride 5 times in the past 10 years. It's sad not to be there!

Silver Comet Trail: Bike Ride on Friday! Florence Road to Brushy Mountain Tunnel
Переглядів 575 років тому
The good part about not being busy at work right now is I get to do things I wouldn't normally have time to do. Last Friday morning I went out to the Silver Comet Trail and got to ride. Starting at Florence Road in Powder Springs I rode went west past the Pumpkinvine Trestle (2:07 and 2:48) and through the Brushy Mountain Tunnel (2:19)... and back. No crowds on the trail. The only downside was ...

Early 1990's Atlanta

From 1989 to 1994 I had my first...and second video camera. I finally digitized most and as I go through them one of the biggest things to stick out is the changes to the skyline. The Round C&S Building, Atlanta Fulton County Stadium are 2 of the big things that are gone now. Many parking lots and smaller buildings too. I hope to go through all the videos and post more highlights

Silver Comet Trail: A Bike Ride in February
Переглядів 3096 років тому
A few weeks ago you would have thought it was late spring instead of February. Laura and I did a short ride on the Silver Comet Trail starting at the Florence Road Trailhead in Powder Springs. We went up to the Brushy Mountain Tunnel and turned around. A beautiful day in the middle of the winter with a lot of cyclist, runner and strollers out. Pumpkinvine Trestle at 2:43 Brushy Mountain Tunnel ...
A Hike in the Rain - Whiteside Mountain

A rainy Sunday morning in the North Carolina mountains. While visiting Phillip and Ed at the house in Sapphire we went on a short hike up Whiteside Mountain. Even though it was an overcast day the views were incredible. Everyone say a falcon... except me. Back in March, I picked up my sister Laura and with Ruby the dog we drove down to south Alabama for our cousin Imena's birthday. I got to fly my drone again in Pinckard. We also saw alligators at a roadside attraction on the way home. A birthday party, alligators and a drone flying over Pinckard, AL. All in all a pretty good weekend! Bo Bikes Bama 2017
Переглядів 1987 років тому
My sister Laura and I rode in the Bo Bikes Bama bike ride on April 29, 2017. It was hot. It was 60 miles. We haven't been riding long distances much lately. But we did it and it was fun. Some nice Alabama back country roads and a ride through the cute little town of Tuskegee, AL. More info about this ride at bobikesbama.com/ Bo Jackson started this ride to raise money for Alabama Governor’s Eme...
I remember ATL in 90's it was still fun and popular beautiful city!!
Thanks for the good memories 😊
I remember no traffic on the weekends. Traffic didn’t get serious on the weekend until aughts (early 2000s). Used to be able to get to midtown under 12 mins no traffic.
I lived on 14th across from Piedmont Park in the early/mid 90's and that video brings back some really great memories. My condolences on the "when I had hair" thing...I can empathize.
Wow no BOA tower or Truist Tower? I thought they were built before the 90s. You should do another video showing what the city looks like today because they're building up a lot around ATL for the 2026 World Cup. It's been 30 yrs since the last cup games in '96 I'd love to see a comparison now.
BOA @1:15
Oh okay but the Truist Tower isn't there @RustySignalFPV
This was me in the 90's, kid from Memphis moved to the big city. I had lots of fun and a little trouble too.
I was a DJ at Z-93 in the late 80's. The CandS tower was our home!!
4:18 Thats my Papa's house! Wallace and Tamsy were my grandparents!!! This is so cool! Gosh thank you for making this video. I love it.
So we are cousins. Wallace was my Dad's first cousin. Their house was built by my great grandfather and your great great grandfather Jesse Leon Snell! Thanks for watching!
This is so cool. I wanted to see if there were any video's of my town of Pinckard and you happen to be right across the street from my Papa's house. My Papa was Wallace Borland. I've met Susan a couple times in my teenage years. I think I even mowed her grass once. I love your drone footage. You even showed Jack Snell's land. I really loved your 1989 video! I used to live 2 houses down from my Aunt Caroline's house. That house has since burned down and rebuilt. This video brings back so many memories. Thank you!
This video rocks. It's hard to find good footage from the 90s. Thanks!
Thanks. I wish I had more.
Nice video
I now feel tired after biking with you for over 52 miles
Are there places along the trail to refill water bottles or get some food?
Yes. Most of the trailheads that have restrooms have water fountains (Smyrna, Floyd Rd, Florence Rd, Tara Drummond)..though in the winter many are turned off. There is a store at Coots Lake around mile marker 33 and until you're west of Rockmart you are close enough civilization to get off the trail and head to a store if you need something. West of Rockmart there's not really anything until you get to Cedartown. After Cedartown we've found very little until you're in Alabama. Thanks for watching! Here's a link to SCT www.silvercometga.com/index.shtml
Enjoyed your video; thank you for sharing!
Cool vid!! you should check out mine:)
I got tired just watching you hike up the mountain. Very pretty.
love it. Loved seeing Ruby get in the water.
That was the first time I've seen her swim. Usually she just jumps around in the water!
Well I am worn out after biking over 60 miles on the Silver Comet Trail. I think I will go lay down and rest now. I enjoyed the exercise and scenery. Thanks.
Good video.
Thanks Tom.
