George is right, about the creation of this country, but it's not as simple as he makes it. There was no money, or system of money in our pre-country, and therefore, our un-elected representatives had to go begging for funding to have enough resources to fight the King of England. Read about Ben Franklin's travels to France, to try and convince business people to lend/give funds and munitions to support the Revolution. As an emissary, he had to charm the French in to believing that France would someday prosper from a successful conclusion to America's war with the king. All of these actions were in desperation, and left little room for anything, or anyone else... including slaves....like it, or not. George can be enlightening, and, though sensitive, has a big blind spot.

Part of what makes this so funny is that Mr. Conductor is telling the truth about kids and doesn’t care what anyone has to say about it. Incidentally, George Carlin had a daughter and still wasn’t afraid to speak the truth.

No. What we all agree on is the true value of gold. It never tarnishes, is rare enough and can be used to make jewelry. What's a lie is the value of PAPER MONEY. That came about because people would go to the local gold merchant, who had a safe place to keep their gold, and he would give them a certificate of the amount of gold they had stored in his safe place. Soon people would just trade the certificates instead of going to the merchant to get their gold first. when everybody cauhgt on to this convenience, gold merchants started making certificates they made that didn't represent any gold at all! The bankers still do that to this day except the part about gold being somewhere. They create money from thin air and loan it to people at interest.
