Tabbies are the best ❤ I’m probably biased but oh well!
Never been cat people, until we got these two. They are a lot of fun!

Are there any issues with moisture or mold? I see lots of people starting to use cooling tubes lately. Good video!
Haven’t really been using it long enough to tell yet. I saw one idea though to run a rope through the pipe that would allow you to pull a rag or something through the pipe to clean it out.
00:58 "I'm trying to get as much of the pipe as deep as I can" Yeah me too😂
A chimney pipe through the roof would probably create a natural draft stronger than that fan. The taller the pipe the more draft . just my opinion
I imagine that it would. I had considered adding a solar chimney…but ended up going the mechanical route (upcoming video). It’s all a big experiment! Thanks for sharing your ideas!
@@BrambleBerryHills A fan gives you control over the speed and direction of the airflow. A solar chimney will create negative pressure in the shed, pulling air in through any cracks or gaps. A fan attached directly to the tube can only pull air from the tube. An adjustable exhaust vent will allow you to match the inlet and outlet flowrate. If you have less air going out than you have coming in, you`ll create positive pressure in the shed which will reduce the output of your fan.
Dude your hilarious, keep up the great videos and keep up the humor. Definitely interested in this project as ive envisioned doing this myself! Subbed 😊
Ha! Thanks for the encouragement. I’ve got some more videos forthcoming about this project. Hopefully they will give you some ideas and inspiration when you get around to building your!
You can simulate deeper depth by insulating above the drain pipe. That keeps the surface temperatures from reaching the pipe.
Yes! Great suggestion and one that I have plans for…will be posting videos as I implement some modifications.
Thanks. I've just started researching earth tube cooling for my farm shed.
You’re welcome! They are a pretty cool low tech solution if they fit your application. Best of luck!
Be sure to put some mesh on the end of the pipe to keep out the wildlife.
Already done. :-). Thanks for the suggestion!
Where did you get this information? That's not true. You can discharge lithium batteries all the way down without damage. They can not be charged when they're below freezing, but they still give it power. Regular lead acid batteries suffer loss and can not be drained without damage. My friend, I want to refer you to a brilliant young man named Will Prowse. Check out his UA-cam channel. I hope you'll find it really helpful.
Yes, you can discharge them to 0…but then I have no power since I am totally off grid. Mine throw a low SOC warning when they drop to somewhere around 20%. I just don’t like the idea of constantly pushing my equipment to its extremes which is something that is quite possible in my situation. I want it to last as long as possible. So, when they throw a warning light, I kick on the generator if there is no solar available. I probably should have stated this a little more clearly. Will has great content. I have watched many of his videos.
Additionally, the info sheet for my batteries states the following: “…our batteries are designed to last for more than 7,000 deep charge and discharge cycles and have a life cycle of more than 15 years with an 80% depth of discharge daily!” Now, if they are designed to last more than 15 years at a daily discharge of 80%, this would lead me to believe that if I consistently push them past that 80% I am likely shortening their overall life span. What’s more, I would think that if they are close to their limit for low voltage and I attempt to power a heavy load appliance like my AC, I could POTENTIALLY, do some damage if the BMS fails to stop the power draw. BUT, as I said in the video and often say, I am no expert and folks should do their own research and treat their own equipment accordingly.
The array ground is required to run from the panels all way to your protective grounding system of the home or building. Running it to a ground rod does nothing to prevent electrocution, grounds need a return path to the source at the building . The is a requirement of the NEC in the US. Cheers…
Thanks for commenting. Since having done this video I have researched more about solar panels and grounding and I have expanded the array and added a combiner box for the panels. I have that grounded. Since I am off grid, I don’t have an electrical source other than my panels (unless I am charging batteries with a generator). Everything is grounded back to the same grounding rod as my distribution panel.
You're not Cute
Oh goodness!
Yep! It was quite the sight!
The one beetle is being lazy. I thought maybe it was dead but saw the head move. I'd be irked if I was the one pushing. 😂❤
Ha! For sure. They are definitely interesting creatures to watch.
That’s a lot of hard work paying off.
For sure! Really happy with how well it all held up. Thankful for everyone that has helped us with that creek crossing and the road.
Neat!
Thanks! I just did another application today. It seems to get washed away when it rains. But, that’s okay. I would rather avoid putting down chemicals if I can. The ticks have just been awful this year.
Lot's of flooding in my state. Glad you're ok.
Thank you! Hope you are as well.
Wow! That creek is a crazy one!
Yeah, this is the highest I have ever seen it.
Dave & friends reconstruction and shoring up the side…1 Remnants of Beryl…0!
Indeed! Now that the water has gone back down I can see that it didn’t even really wash away the rock from the low point in the road.
@@BrambleBerryHills ….thats great!!
Is that Owen Wilson in the background??!
"Wooooow"
You have the "cross-brasing" all the way to the top, but not all the way down. Therefore it is the bottom end of the pilars wiggling and bending. Like your homemade setup!! 🙂
Thanks! It has been holding up well so far and seems to be pretty rigid now. We have had several storms roll through with high winds since I finished it and had no issues. When we build a house and move everything, I will have a better plan for a more permanent installation there after having experimented with this and my other mounts. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Need an elongated bucket.
Ha! Yes, if there were such a thing, it would definitely fit our seat better. We haven’t had any issues so far though.
If I could hammer that fast….!! 🤣 And the “Yea” at the end!! 👍
Wish I could too!
Now that’s truly…holding up the wall (panel)! Looking good!
Indeed. They aren’t light!
I am so glad I found your video. I'd watched somebody else's on how to build this mount, and it wasn't nearly as clear. I was doing it all wrong! You saved me a ton of grief!
Happy that it helped you! Thanks for watching and sharing that with us!
Way to go. You made a good move, and you are scaling up as you go along.
Thanks for the words of encouragement!
You might now want to have a huge crescent wrench and saw and anything for that matter hanging over your batteries😳
You know…that thought has crossed my mind as well. All of the older model batteries have covers over the terminals, so I wasn’t too concerned about it. The newer battery is a different story though, so there’s definitely some changes that need to be made with all that stuff.
When you crimp the plugs on you make it way easier by putting one of the arms of the crimper in a vice.
That’s a great idea! I have a vice packed away somewhere…but no workshop built to set it up in yet. One of these days I will get around to that, but a house will probably come first. Thanks for sharing.
I built my batteries. 4 14.3kw batteries for $8,000 now I can built 4 16.5kw batteries for $6,000 at 48 volts. You are doing what you know how. Keep it up.
Thanks for the words of encouragement! Things certainly change fast when it comes to this stuff. It’s fun to learn about and tinker with though.
when making cables I softly crimp the crimper just enough to hold the end then I put wire in then crimp tight. makes it so much easier. Busbars will make each battery work with less load on them. Its a good thing you changed to busbars.
Yes, I definitely think the busbars were a good addition. Problem (at least it seems like a problem) I am running into now is that my newest battery discharges a lot faster than the others. I have seen it as much as 20% lower. I am wondering if it has something to do with having larger gauge wire than the other batteries. More research and learning to do. Also, my battery charger takes a lot longer to charge my bank now that the bank is twice the capacity. But, the bank discharges slower…so I guess it’s a trade off. Might see if I can get a charger that can push more amps. Thanks for the tip on crimping! Have a good one!
@@BrambleBerryHills Are the BMS setting the same? I can see thicker cables since having less resistance draining it a bit faster. I wouldn't worry. If that one runs out say over night the other 3 will still have power. One thing to look at is how many amps each take during charging. does that one take more amps than the others? if so it is the cables. I think it's not truly top balanced yet. Is it the new or used one?
Thanks for the video. I'm looking to upgrade the same Dometic thermostat in mine. Did it fix your issue with your heat turning off and not coming back on? I'm running into the same thing with mine and the A/C.
Yes, so far so good with ours. It’s also been super handy to be able to control it remotely!
Looking awesome.
Thank you!
