Fishin' Time Colorado
Приєднався 20 чер 2006
I'm no pro, but I like to fish and I like to share whatever I can to help others get into fishing or learn something new. I'm a local Colorado expert in kayak & shore fishing, fishing challenges, Ice fishing, stream and river fishing and much more. I also do unboxing videos, fishing gear & tackle reviews. I am also a dad of three girls and husband with a full time job, but I do all of this because I literally can't get enough fishing in daily. I love fishing and everything that goes into the planning and preparation of a trip. My truck stays loaded with gear and I am always looking for my next opportunity to wet a line. I am forever in search of the Great American Fishing Challenge. Join me as I document my fishing stories.

Trout Hole on the S. Platte
Переглядів 41414 днів тому
I had to be in Denver for a haircut on a Saturday morning, so I headed down a little early to hit the S. Platte once again. I tried a stretch of water I had never fished, and found a construction zone that looked promising. Lucky for me no one was working on a Saturday morning, so I took a few casts on my way through. Found a nice Trout that eager and willing! Great way to kill a couple hours!!
Fishin' Spillways on the S. Platte in Denver
Переглядів 833Місяць тому
I planned to fish down the South Platte river starting at Chatfield Reservoir spillway, but decided since I was at Chatfield I should start at the damn. I did not have any luck so I moved down to the spillway and finally got into the target species, Walleye. Also found a few nice trout working some of the other spillways further down river.
S. Platte River in the Fall #fishing

I found a fishy spot on the S. Platte I wanted to try again, after no luck the first time. It was a warm Fall day in the North Denver Metro area and the fish were active! I found a couple different species and one surprise catch that made my day and included a new PB! See what was biting on the S. Platte today.
Colorado State Parks Series: E5 Lathrop #fishing

For this episode of the Colorado State Parks Series I traveled to Walsenberg in the early Fall to visit Lathrop State Park. Lathrop was the first State Park and I was excited about this trip because of the variety of fish you can catch here. This was my first time here and it was a great experience. The facilities are top notch, and the fishing was amazing! I caught 6 different species, includi...
Colorado State Parks Series: E4 Eleven Mile Reservoir #troutfishing

Episode 4 is one of my favorite State Parks, Eleven Mile. I have spent a lot of time here over the years and I have a ton of experience fishing the Mile. Eleven Mile offers year round recreation and is also one of my favorite ice fishing destinations. In this episode I did an overnight at one of the back country campsites that I kayaked into. I had a excellent trip with some really quality fish...
Nice Bass gets stuck in the Weeds! #fishing
Переглядів 1843 місяці тому
I have had a string of bad luck recently, where I have lost several fish that have broken me off. I had a nice bass do a deep dive into some weeds the other day, so instead or horsing him out and breaking him off, I worked hard to free the fish from the deep dark weeds and managed to get him in. A practice of patience and determination.
Colorado State Parks Series: E3 North Sterling Reservoir #fishing

Episode 3 is North Sterling Reservoir State Park. I took the family for a couple days of fishing and camping, and we had a great time! This was a lake I had never been to before, so we got to explore. The campground was really nice, and even though the wind blew the entire time we were there it was a great experience. The kids got to swim and had fun playing in the sand, while I tried my luck i...
Fishin' Time Road Trip (I-80 Western Nebraska Part 2)

The second half of my trip to Nebraska went even better than the first. I had another epic day with non-stop action and some surprise catches as well as an epic MISS! Overall the trip was everything I had hoped for and then some. Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Walleye, Pike and Bluegill rounded out the day. Oh and by the way, I spent the entire day with no Live Scope. Since I left it at ca...

Fall Bass Fishing: Unbelievable catch in Boulder Colorado
Hey man!! Question about your rod breaking…. First the feather duster is so fragile 100%. When you ordered your replacement did you pay for that one as well? As in have you bought 2 rods and yet to use either of them? Just looking for some more detail to see if I can help out.
Dude! Clayton friggin' Schick commented on your video!! AWESOME!!!
First, it's an honor. Second, yes I purchased 2 feather dusters and broke them both before I could even put a reel on, can confirm they are very fragile. Full responsibility on me just being a clutz, so that's why I never reached out on a warranty or whatever. I have a few other Frostbite rods I love, so I'm happy to support the brand. I'm a big fan of yours too thanks for all you do!
Beautiful fish! Great channel too, I’ll definitely subscribe
the people who live here don't call it the platte river we call it shit river. and it smells worse than shit
Try out lon hagler Or bodecker Just north west from barber ponds (st vrain) October - December bite for walleye saugeye wiper white bass and big perch I’ve always done good at lon hagler or prewitt The dams for both A bit of a walk but ain’t nothing for how good the fishing is Catch a day the wind is blowing towards the dam Leaches or minnows on a floating jig head or slip bobber Nice video got a new sub
Thanks for the tips, I've fished Long Hagler alot in the past, but it's been a while. Never have fished Prewitt, gonna have the give that one a try! Thanks for watching, good luck out there!!
That was a chunky rainbow! Great fish story about big ole Rocky. Not the most picturesque of places but plattes flowing ok there at least. They’re stocking little bows everywhere now, but I’m still after the elusive walleye, or saugeye, maybe some large perch. Fish on! 🎣👯♂️
@@PicklesBBQandCooking lol glad you liked my story haha. I can't seem to catch anything in any of the lakes but the Platte has been producing! Good luck brother!
walleye I can say has been beating my butt this year.. I have not been on any good walleye this year!
Man, I just drove 2.5 hours one way to get skunked again...
@ walleye has been the toughest for me this year
Funny I’ve been chasing down walleye the last few weeks too, among a couple of other species. Tried st Vrain caught a 12” saugeye, nothing but skunk last couple of times. Lon Hagler guy next to me got a decent walleye, no dice for me. Zip at a few other spots too. Those were some good catches! Tight lines!
@@PicklesBBQandCooking I'm no pro when it comes to Walleye, so it does feel pretty good to get a couple when you target them. Good luck hunting those Eyes!!
I've fished John martin a few times but haven't had much luck. Nice vid though!
Where was this at if you dont mind me asking? 🤔
I don't usually share exact location especially for smaller lakes. But it's in Boulder County and not hard to find. Good luck!
Nice😊
Awesome! CATFISH!!
Great info. Thanks for the content!
Nice catch, bro!
It takes so long to walk back there lol.
There's another couple spots over by 120th animal shelter. South of it. Gotta bring some waiters tho
@@brandonfabrizio9956 it does lol. I was thinking of bringing my bike next time.
Hah, took me a second but I know where you are, that’s my city, live closer to the drained out lake on the other side. Went there a few months ago when the river was higher and caught nothing. I had to look up that smell because it smells like sugary sweet dentist stuff. Haven’t had any luck lately fishing, mostly small fries. Fish on!
Yeah, there's no decent way to describe the smell of the South Platte. If water could rot, that would be the smell.
@@kayceeyou lol yea rotten water, that's a pretty good way to describe it
I really like these state park videos. I live in weld county Colorado. It’s awesome to see where and how to fish my local lakes. My only suggestion is to go into more detail about the specific lures and baits you use to catch each kind of fish
@@DanteFoos-wf2cd thanks for the feedback, and good call I will try and give more tips about what I'm using and why. Thanks for watching really appreciate it!
I’d be packin if I went down there. Denver isn’t a very clean town. Someone may try to fish with your gear
I’ve had great luck in the mountains when storms are rolling in. If it’s gray and overcast, all the better
@@thomasleonard9685 totally agree man. Tight lines
Enjoyed your video! Nice to see fishing for just the fun of its own!
I should take my boy there and fishing
@@dalewilliams6440 would be a great place to take kids. Good luck!
@FishinTimeCO yeah. My son misses fishing. He gone for 4 years. Now he's home safely and really want fishing so bad.
Where is Eagle Claw warehouse ? I wanna go .
@@davidarwood6264 weird part of Denver. Kinda sketchy around it but cool spot!
I was openly laughing, that would totally be me in full panic mode catching that fish. There are more fisherman like us fumbling through those types or catches then not. Thank you for sharing again.
Looks awesome man! That's a really nice kayak setup. Nice pike. Racoons always terrorize us at pueblo. They seem to be all over the front range parks. That little guy looked like a tiger to me. Keep up the good work!
How easy is it to change the transducer to perspective mode?
@@Davidfca1 you know I have not really tried out Perspective mode, but it's super easy to change the orientation.
That looks like a pretty good place to fish! I thought for sure the pike was going to bite through the line before you landed it. What a fantastic fight and he was a beast! Fish on!
@@PicklesBBQandCooking thanks brother! Landed her in spite of my own mistakes. Last time I had a Pike that big it DID break me off, so I was nervous but man it felt good to land her.
Sewage run off from dia in there. Be careful about E. coli
Had the kayak on this reservoir a couple times. Lots of carp jumping in the AM. Did manage to catch a healthy, chunky trout on a diver last trip. Other than that, it can be really slow. Have seen snake-sized pike caught from shore near the boat launch.
What number is the box?
Loving this series, brudda!
There are some really big Wipers in that lake. Im talking over 3 ft. I dig the channel.
I would have watched this but I saw your rainbow.
You must have recognized it? Did the Rainbow Trout I caught steal your worm? Only reason I can think of that you wouldn't want to see that Rainbow again lol.
Seriously - a Tasmanian Devil ... Thought you were jigging or something; never in my life have i caught something on those, and i was just at eleven mile 2 weeks ago. Were you throwing the taz from the shore too?
From shore I was using a white paddle tail swimbait. But yea those tax devils work well in about 20-30 feet trolling along weed lines. Tight lines!
Those are some great looking whopper trout! Smoked trout is so good, just smoked some much littler dudes me and my youngest caught. Fish on brother!
New to Colorado and looking to get back into fishing, this series you are doing is helping me learn more about what the state has to offer. Thank you for that and looks like a fun weekend.
@@The_Mudfoot thanks man that's much appreciated because that's exactly what I hoped this series would do!
We fished there 2 years ago. Caught some sun but nothing else. And yes, it can get windy.
Nice video. I haven't been there yet. Good series idea for sure. Thank you!
That was a good fight, glad you caught that dude! Half of fishing is know when to hold em, know when to fold em. No clue what pond that is but looks decent, some shade even. I’ve resorted to the hills, creeks and lakes fishing trout close enough but not dying from heat. Cheers brother, tight lines!
@@PicklesBBQandCooking you better believe it man it's been hot and I tend to only fish early in the morning this time of year. It did feel good to get a fish "unstuck" like that. Thanks for watching!
Nice video
Ahh actually i been here it's not a bad spot many go across on that right side on the other side of the bridge
What area was this? I fish the platte but more further north. I only catch trout or carp but the carps are massive!
I live very near the river in commerce shitty… I want to learn how to catch carp or bass … something besides trout
Great sack I received the exact same
Simply run hook of spinner bait thru the silicone rubber on eye of trailer hook..
Thinking about going out there this weekend and wondering what bait to use. What would you recommend?
@@oscarpulido2649 I saw it may be closed for toxic algae, so double check before you head all the way out there. If you do make it out, I would recommend the old trusty night crawler. Also would not hurt to put something that mimics a minnow on the bottom. Good luck 🤞!
Can't hear you.
Yea was still learning the capabilities of the directional microphone on my camera. Sorry for the audio quality, still improving.
What’s your bait
It was a red bucktail jig.
@@FishinTimeCO nice. I’m in Honolulu right now and am trying to catch anything that’ll bite!
@@AngyKrby good luck! I got a lot of funny looks from the locals that I know when I told them I was fishing the canal. I did catch a pair of underwear so it is definitely filthy lol
Great video sir!
@@OuterTrail thank you very kindly
Nicee video brother!!🎣 way to find the fish! Is that stretch further down?
Near the western stock show complex, north side.
