Hey! I'm an artist from Nova Scotia, Canada. I do too many creative things but it makes me happy and I don't think I can be any other way. :)
making a DIY notepad gift set 🗒️ (for under $10!)
I'm having lots of fun making gifts lately and in this video, we're going to be making a notepad gift set! This will be using my typical notepad-making techniques, but we'll be doing two sizes and then tying the whole thing up with a bow. Very cute!!
This project uses pretty simple materials, so here's what you'll need. I recommend just finding comparable items around your house, as you really don't need anything too fancy! I'm estimating this project will be under $10 if you use things you already have, as most of these are standard craft materials.
Materials:
- paper (I use 28 lb paper: amzn.to/3Sj9oRh)
- printer (mine is an Epson Ecotank: amzn.to/42ISxJL)
- scissors, utility knife, or paper cutter
- pencil
- white glue or Mod Podge (I use this: amzn.to/3pRaPdp)
- paintbrush for glue
- clamps, bulldog clips, or clothespins
- chipboard or any other stiff board for backing
- some ribbon
- optional pen set to add to the gift
I hope you have fun making this project!

trying out UV transfers for my art!
Переглядів 22514 днів тому
This is my first time trying out UV transfers, so be kind as I'm learning! 😅 I wanted to try making an iced coffee cup as a gift for my brother so this seemed like a great time to try ordering UV transfers from Ton Atelier, a Canadian company that keeps advertising to me. I watched some tutorial videos then did my best - and with mixed results! However, I'm really happy with the cups that I suc...

I went to Homesense for some art inspiration, then picked up some new art paper and paints. I linked everything that is link-able down below! This is my first time doing a more in-depth step-by-step painting video, so if you like this ...

I love making things from paper, so when I was asked to make some last-minute decorations for an event, it was easy to say yes! In this video I make two different kinds of paper ornaments that are very easy to customize. I decided to paint mine but you don't have to! ✏️ Materials I used: - Winsor & Newton Watercolor Paint Set: amzn.to/491h0ya - My fave Olive Green paint: amzn.to/3Oh8Ec4 - Paper...

I think this is a super fun project, and I'll show you my three simple designs that you can replicate (or just be inspired by!) These would be great to use personally, or perhaps even sell as a product around the holiday season? We'll chat about it as we...

Come with me through some old parts of Edinburgh for a day! This was the first day of my recent UK trip and I didn't get to see everything one might wish (luckily I did go to the art galleries last time I was here) but join me for a walk through old town, the National Museum of Scotland, Greyfriars Cemetery, and a few other nice spots! I also included a mini art supplies haul at the end if you'...

This is a really simple little DIY project and maybe can help you out if you also need to create some quickly. I'm really into the medium of collage lately thanks to some workshops I went to, and so I'm embarking on this new project... while thinking about a lot of art-related things. I enjoyed this video very much. Thank you 😊
Thank you!!
Thank You so much for this tutorial, I'm going to make it A.S.A.P.! I need a daily planner and your planner is perfect for my needs! I can't wait to get started, your tutorial was easy to understand and showing the price of the finish planner was the icing on the cake! Thank you for sharing, I love this planner!
Thanks for the insight and ideas!!
Great content, thanks!!
Yes, they are really cute! What a great idea!
Could you please cover how you ship? I have no idea how shipping works with business since the cost is generally kindda high.
Thank you for your video. Your list is great it opened my eyes where I can sell wholesale in my city! Love your videos!
Thank you taking us on your new art supply haul. I never heard of drawing inks before so thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this video, I was wondering how you traveled with your drawing tools. I'm new to your channel and love it. I want to start making greeting cards as a business. I love your artwork, it's great how you gently criticize your artwork and you are aware of what you love about your designs and how it inspires you to continue with your artwork. I have started doodling on the go my supplies are Kingart brush markers, a black fine tip Sharpie, and a Pacon 4"x6" unruled note pad that has 150 sheets (from the Dollar Tree). I keep them in a pencil box and I carry the supplies in a large tote bag. A pencil and an eraser will be added after seeing your video. I'm very insecure about doodling and need the support of pencil and an eraser. Thank you so much for this video. What a fun life you must be having it shows in your artwork! So glad to hear your bunny is better!
You had me at "Press R for a square" !!! Saves me looking for one every single time! Thean realised T is for text and L is for line!! :o
You do a show a week? Wow!!
Loved this video, you are so natural and inspiring. I shall check you out on Skillshare :))
What kind of paper did you print that on? Cardstock?
I used 28 lb printer paper - so basically just slightly thicker than normal paper. I'm pretty sure regular printer paper or cardstock would both work fine!
Love watching these crafty videos Rebecca. Great ideas and instructions. Also love the upcycling and personalised aspect of gift giving. Thank you 🙏
Thanks so much! I like to set the expectation for everyone that they'll be getting diy projects from me for every gift holiday 🤭
LOVE your videos!!!! Thank you and Happy Holidays!
Thanks so much! Happy Holidays to you too! ☺️
This is so good, a stunning gift idea ☺
Thank you! I hope she likes it! 😄
Wondering what SIZE your PRINTS are that sit in the display? It looks perfect for having 2 per row as seen at 30mins. I have A3s to display and trying to compare how it will look. I'm not sure if there is a standard print size in your country or if it's x" by x" size? [also thankyou for the captions!] Sorry if this seems like a basic question.
The prints are 8x10 inches and it fit 2 with some extra room; and the cards I showed are 5x7 inches, and fit 3 across! I hope that helps! :)
Try a quilter's ruler next time
This was so helpful! Thank you! ❤
Wow. Very impressive video and channel. Thank you.
heyy I just bought my printer it appears those lines. What could do to solve it, please?
This WAS inspirational! I change my mind so much, I spend a lot on business cards. I want freedom to update, be creative, and still consistent. Thank you!
I haven't used UV dtf, but usually when I apply sticky decals to glass I spray soapy water on both the glass and the stickers. It gives wiggle room so you can do final adjustments and release air bubbles. Maybe that might help? Love the idea of selling the transfers instead of the glass, way cheaper postage fees!
The titled of you work includes UV…I expected ULTRA VIolet Light in the process….what does UV stand for?
It is ultraviolet! UV light is what cures the sticker when the manufacturer makes it. So that step was done before they were shipped to me. I believe that's what makes them able to adhere without heat like other transfers
Are you Muslim or not?
Hi! Nice to meet you! From Saskatchewan!
THISSSSSSS is great. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this. Now I'm going to look for your studio tour video. :)
I'm doing my first in-person holiday boutique tomorrow and I build a display stand today. Great instructions and video. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Hello Thank you for the video, can you please tell me the name of the thing you're working on, the sheet you're using to protect the table from the cuter.
It's called a self healing cutting mat!
@luckysprout THANK YOU 💖
Amazing idea!
Love this!
So awesome! Love this. Am going to include this in my little business with my daughter. Hey! We live next door in PEI! I lived in Halifax for a few years a long time ago. Love it there.
This is a great idea and you did a nice job explaining the concept and showing how to make it. One idea is that you could use masking tape to cover the entire thing. You simply tear off small pieces and overlay them over the whole thing. Then you can use some sort of primer coating over the whole thing to smooth it out and then paint it. If you also spray painted it with some clear shellac, the thing would be nearly indestructible. The only other suggestion I can think of would be to add a "bottom" base panel because you could then use clamps to attach it at the back to the table if you were going to be outside and were worried about it being blown or knocked over easily.
these are all such fantastic ideas, they look like so much fun to create ☺
This is THE BEST diy video. I found black foam board at staples, I have a market in three days and was stressed on how to display my prints. The black goes with my theme and This was SO EASY. You did an amazing job explaining everything. This is a game changer
I'm so glad it helped you!! Thanks for watching, and good luck at your market! 🤞
Thank you for this video Rebecca. I only just started my business, so this was really great advice.
I'm so glad it was helpful! 🥰
That's good what size note
This is such a gorgeous idea 🥰
wow these are gorgeous, what a great idea!! 🥰
Thank you!!! Id love to see what you'd come up with for a bag design too! 🥰
I have that same brand of watercolors and I love them. Even though I don't use them often. Lovely Christmas tags <3
Thank you! They are really nice paints, aren't they? No fault in saving them for special occasions ☺️
❤
Great tutorial... especially about the wages being dispersed across a set amount of prints. Makes so much sense! I also include overhead...like rent, hydro, and phone costs.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching! 🥰
Thank You! I love seeing your drawings and it was inspiring! You opened my eyes to drawing challenges!
Thanks so much! I hope you try some drawing challenges too! 🥰
@@luckysproutI will! I can’t wait to get started! Thank you for introducing me drawing challenges!
Really great tutorial! Made one for cards using the exact measurements and it worked so well, I ended up making a second one which is bigger to accommodate drinkware. Once the concept sunk in, it's super easy and fun to do and looks soooo good!!!! The only thing I don't recommend is passing your finger through the hot glue to spread it evenly. When you said if "you don't mind burning your fingers..." and made it look so comfortable I was like no biggie but then quickly realized that I DO MIND 😬. Otherwise, this was immensely helpful.
Oh gosh, I hope you didn't burn yourself!! I know the temperature for hot glue guns can vary a lot. Mine must just be a low temp one. I'm really glad the project worked out for you otherwise!!
Can we use gloss water based sealer for the sticking part?
I don't see why not! As long as it doesn't dry too brittle, as you want the pad to have a little flexibility :)
Thank you for this helpful video. It was so easy to make following your instructions. I did a display, but using cardboard instead of foam. It worked perfectly, I'm using it for showing comics at my stand and it resist the weight of the comics without problem.
I'm so glad it worked for you! Hope your sales went well! :)
Super inventive, thank you! Subbed!
