This might be the best explanation of this issue I have seen :) I am in an engineering course in computer science, and paradoxically, switching to Linux made developpement easier for me (mostly because Linux is made to be opened and tinkered around.) People do talks about issues and whatnot because hey, they like to tinker with their os and naturally you encounter issues you wouldn't otherwise. Compatibilities with the rest of software environnement (gpus, printers, device etc...) *is* harder because companies do not support Linux. You are right about making Linux more accessible. Believe it or not, but this has been the case, with the rise of OS like Linux Mint and such. I guess that a lot of Linux user do not like opaque design that hides the user what's going on (and it's like, 75% of issues / bugs I have, it's like "I don't where and what the audio driver is and I have to troubleshoot it). Making accessible design that do not hides technicality is a bit cumbersome, and the learning curve is real. If you have an old laptop or such around, tinkering with it distrohopping (testing a bunch of OS in succession), customizing your Desktop and such can be a lot ot fun. Finally, I think the "elitist" pov arise from a feeling of power and understanding towards your machine that you didn't have before. Much love acrouzet, take care of yourself ❤

It's not that Linux is "buggy", Linux is free so, and with freedom you can do good things or screw things. You can't go very far changing things on Windows or MacOS, there is no "Wine" on Windows to make it run MacOS software the same way. There you can go from unixp0rn OR bork up your entire installation, it's about choice, if you don't have the choice to do stupid things you don't have the choice to do amazing things. What i see the most is Windows users complaining how Microsoft is screwing up Windows (specially now with Microsoft Recall), and they want to move to Linux and can't do it, in that way it IS fun to laugh at these people, not 'cause they want to use Linux, but they can't move past Windows, heck, most of them will struggle to use MacOS xD Most Linux users i know have some notion of computers and information security, and for people like this telling others to use Linux is like a nutritionist telling people to eat healthy food, Windows is a system that just allows people to move in a very unsafe way, it makes people use everything without understanding the risks of what they are dealing with, heck, even MacOS is way easier but don't allow you to do bad stuff without you at least know what you are doing. I've helped channels, translated software and documents, ported software, made guides and stuff, that's the generic Linux and BSD users thing, the problem is people that don't know anything about computers spreading misinformation about Linux and then calling them "elitists" of "fanboys", last time a saw this dude saying that "they don't even have Steam on Linux"... Valve have launched an entire distribution based on Linux and even a portable console, and people still spread misinformation about things you can verify with a google search. And most times, there is no such thing as a "exclusive Linux user", most times we have people who actually try to have some knowledge about what the hell they have on their computers, and MacOS/Windows hostages, most Linux users know a thing or two about other operating systems, but the opposite just doesn't happen, talking about Windows is the status quo so, maybe for you, having people just talking about Linux is a completely unknown thing but i bet you saw the same thing lot's of times when it comes to Windows and didn't care, 'cause again, it is the status quo, so it's funny how THEY live in a bubble, but not me using JUST Windows my entire life... Yeah... Sure... Btw, you are very wrong here, Linux distros ALWAYS changes to be more palatable and accessible, every day there is new things about Linux, the problem is, if they can make Linux their "304" to get used when they don't want Windows anymore, and Linux won't be this, it's a completely different thing. And i disagree with you, i think what is causing the problem now is Linux users selling Linux as just a Windows alternative to users who don't even want to get out of Windows in the first place, so when people see the difference they don't see the reasons behind it, they just see Linux as a "inferior Windows". At last but not least, if you have you are just "too used" to the way you are on Windows now, i hope you never talk about Linux anymore, you never get even close to Linux, and for a very simple reason: I doubt you have something good to add to this. I am not trying to being rude, i still have to make a video about this, but when it comes to differences, people just don't like what is different, it's like there is this tribe on Africa and they have a completely different way of life, people who ACTUALLY try to respect this may go there, may live among them and they will get useful knowledge even if they go back to their countries, but most people when they get to know this tribe the first thing on their heads will be "these mofos don't even have a refrigerator". And that EXACTLY how you sound to me! You will find more people talking bad and spreading misinformation about Linux than you find Linux users, heck, you have at least 10 times more Windows end users than Linux end users, by statistics alone this is a fact.

Linux users can be elitists but the main reason to get knowledge of Linux is due to the endless telemetry issues (with Windows) and the upcoming intrusive 'features' they're going to roll out with Windows 11. Believe me, being able to use a computer immediately, rather than having to wait for all your processing power to be yours, after Microsoft have harvested you today's batch of data is a lot better. Linux Mint is a good starting place and you can boot it from USB if you want to just familiarise with it. There's boat loads of tutorials and YT vids that run you thru things. The benefit is being to run it from USB and a little time invested each day will show you that it's worth knowing Windows & Linux and eventually using a version of Linux as your daily driver. It's worth it in the long run.
