The Forsmanship Method
Portugal
Приєднався 15 січ 2024
Stefan Forsman is a European horse trainer, known for his pioneering work in natural horsemanship. His training approach has inspired a new generation of trainers across various disciplines, including racing, dressage, and jumping. Stefan's vast knowledge of horse psychology, and work with thousands of horses, even the most dangerous ones destined to slaughter, has led him to develop The Forsmanship Method, to create safe, relaxed, and trustworthy horses capable of handling any type of situation calmly, and teach humans how to communicate with horses effectively; because without a clear understanding, there can only be frustration and misunderstandings. The Forsmanship Method is a unique approach to improving the relationship between horses and humans and promotes a more humane approach to horse care, handling, and training. Stefan’s work has impacted hundreds of people and their horses worldwide, making him a sought-after speaker at animal rights associations events in Scandinavia.
Groundwork, good or bad?@Forsmanship
Groundwork... the biggest waste of time ever!!!
I hear this all the time, in conjunction with:
"I just want to trail ride, so I don't need it!"
"I only focus on showing, so I don't need it"
"I only want to have fun with my horse, so I don't need it!"
"Groundwork is boring!"
"Groundwork is for sissies, not for who knows how to ride!"
But what if the groundwork is the key to better performance in the show ring, enhancing your riding experience on the trail, creating a stronger bond with your horse, helping address behavior issues, loading and standing still challenges, relationship dynamics, and leadership struggles?
I can guarantee that groundwork is more beneficial than you think and it will open a new world of possibilities that you never even thought possible!

Have you ever stop and think about.... Why do we lead the horse the way we do, and what happens really when we do it?
The circle @Forsmanship

The circle is probably one, if not the most boring thing to do, but it is the foundation of all the work that one goes to do with a horse. It teaches them and us, the control of the motions, speed, relaxation, softness, alertness, the stop, collection, balance and so forth.
Round pen yes or no? @Forsmanship

Groung work is essential for building a lasting relationship with your horse and to have a well trained, confident, calm and trusting horse. But chasing a horse in the round pen will do the total opposite and alienates the horse from the human.

Do not assume that your horse knows what to do with his feet, especially when they live in stalls.
The stallion and the Horseman @Forsmanship

When you create that special bond with a horse, no matter what, the horse will always choose you. Even if it is a loose mature stallion, in a pen with a loose mare.

A horse need to learn to stand still. This will develop patience and the ability to think before reacting.

Give direction @Forsmanship
Переглядів 46 місяців тому
This exercise is crucial in the foundational training of a horse. By utilizing trees as obstacles, the horse is given a sense of purpose instead of just moving in circles within an arena. The abrupt changes of direction required in this exercise will make the horse more responsive to the rider's cues and ultimately improve its focus and calmness. #groundwork #horse #horsemanship #horsetraining
"Desensitizing"... this terrible word @Forsmanship

As flight animals, horses' instinct is to run away from danger. Their sensitivity and ability to identify danger is what keeps them alive in the wild. Now, imagine being able to take your horse anywhere regardless of the situation: a forest, a busy beach or a crowded town in the middle of a festival. Horses need to feel safe and as horse people it is our job to make them feel that they can trus...
