3D Printing Suspension Arms for Traxxas Rustler
Переглядів 9024 місяці тому
A while ago my Traxxas Rustler crashed into an Arrma Infraction at full speed. It launched itself 4ft into the air, using the Arrma as a ramp. While it was cool to watch, the car landed on its suspension arm, breaking the part. In this video I will try to 3D print some new ones and see if they survive some chaotic driving. If you want to see more, follow me on instagram: firewaffl...

Hi mate. I’ve had my Vantage a few weeks. It’s great fun. My tyres seem to be wearing quickly. I drive on tarmac mainly. How are the new tyres lasting for you? Have you got a link to them please? Thanks!
Hi, great to hear (: Yeah the little knobbly bits on the stock tyres will wear very quickly but the actual traction is fine. I don't actually recommend these tyres I bought in this video, they're not as good quality as the stock tyres. I am yet to release the video where I put another set of new tyres, this time same as stock. (I managed to blow a tyre on this set in the video) I bought them from model sport. Search for FTX vantage and click on spares. Don't buy the fastrax ones. Cheaper plastic. Different width and cheaper rubber and glue. Thanks for watching (:
Thanks for the breakdown! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (air carpet target dish off jeans toilet sweet piano spoil fruit essay). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?

I have a purple and cream 1:18th scale, Burago Lamborghini Diablo 1990, with like zero scratches or anything… are these quite rare? How much should I be looking to sell it for?
Not hugely expensive but I was just lucky to find this one in good condition for a fair price. Maybe auction it on eBay starting at a reasonable price and it might go up. Don't take my word for it though, the market and the way the auctions work is very random.

I've been 3d printing replacement parts for an old short course truck kit for awhile now and have found the front arms to be much stronger when you print them up on their side rather than flat. that way you don't get layer separation in the holes where a rod runs though when a shocked is applied. That said if i could still find parts for this particular kit i would snatch them up instead of trial an erroring my way to a decent part.
That makes a lot of sense, thanks a lot! Will probably try this next then. Yeah I found the parts online for like £10 so not too bad but it is fun to mess around and prototype things (: Thanks for watching and commenting!
The strenght of PLA isn't very good unless you overbuild/overengineer everything but that makes everything much heavier and bulkier. Or use a combo of PLA printed material and some stronger material inserts like steel, nylon etc.
Yeah PLA is all I can print at home. I used to have access to a printer that could print PA-CF (carbon fibre reinforced nylon) and that would have been ideal. I'll see if I can still print on that one. If not, I love the idea of using steel inserts, thanks a lot! However the part broke at a place where it would be hard to put a rod through so will need to think about it carefully. Will definitely be looking to continue and improve on this project so will look into your suggestions. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment (:
hi what program did you use to model the parts in is it free ??
@@lewismadden8438 hi there I use Fusuon360. You can get a free trial or get a free subscription as a student (:
@@firewaffle1 thank you much appreciated unfortunately I'm not a student
Free trial will give you 30 days or something, not sure what else you can do otherwise /:
Not worh the plastic it is printed with
What do you mean? PLA is definitely not the best plastic to use but I wasn't able to print with any other material.
Maybe if you make the big middle part ”softer” by adding big cutouts it would be able to deform a bit and absorb some of the energy, giving the weak spots a better chance to survive a sharp impact. Also is there room to beef up those weak spots? Maybe glue on some support?
@@autonoob yeah that would definitely be a good thing to test! Definitely space to reinforce the weak spots. Currently working on other projects now but if I come back to this one, will try to update the model based on your comment (: Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
@@firewaffle1 I have big plans on breaking my rustler soon so your r&d will come in handy :P I’m curious about giving plastic welding a shot if something breaks, to fix the original parts. Seems like it should be as good as new, but I’m skeptical.
@@autonoob oh nice. Would you be plastic welding with PLA or just whatever plastic is on the car like ABS I may to able to print the arms with PA-CF, which is a carbon fibre infused nylon. This is a lot tougher and more flexible. Unfortunately I can only print this on the printer at school but going to see if I can still use it and try some test parts! If I manage to do anything I will try to post updates here as YT shorts or community posts. If I have enough content maybe I can make a full video. (:
@@firewaffle1 i was thinking same as the parts so abs probably. Make some videos I liked this one, I’m sure others will too. 👍

Where to buy the mudguards
@@crischanlariosa6185 which ones? I haven't installed mud guards on my car unless you're referring to another part?

Where do I buy the black mudguards at?
I spray painted the wheel arches and might 3d print some mudguards, however I don't think there are model for this yet b
Plzz tell me where to buy wholesale these one if you know any dealer
Sorry there's nowhere really. Amazon often has some good prices depending on where you are. Costco don't stock 1:24. Sometimes you see them in toy shops. Maybe look also for specialist model shops n
Of course it can. It can pull even 2 or 3 of them at once
Now I'm tempted to buy 2 more Lego defenders 🤣
So many nice details and paint job is great. Always wanted yellow one and Ferrari F50, dam im orderin them right now, who needs new gaming chair, right? 😅😅 Nice video and cleaning well donne! 👍👍
Haha go for it, chair can wait 🤣 I wanted to get an F40 or F50 but couldn't find any for a good price! Thank you (:
Mine has a light kit so for a lot, I can't do but, I do really want to do the black-out bumper on front and back along with the fenders.
If you can't remove parts because of the lights, maybe just mask the entire car apart from the bumpers and spray paint? Although extremely risky if not done carefully or correctly
@@firewaffle1 So I can remove the parts so I can spray paint it but like you said I don't wanna take it apart because I can't find the manual but I can give it a shot with masking tape.
@@Horseyiscool you don't need instructions. Very slowly and carefully you can remove the bumper and stuff. Take reference photos as you go. The bumper comes off in one piece for further disassembly. If you want instructions look online or for build videos (:

This set of exams finishes soon, then I have a coursework deadline but I'm hoping to get some stuff out in March (: thanks again for your support bro
@@firewaffle1 No problem Man! Wish You huge luck with exams :).
As a noob of diecast world I am surprise to see this visual quality from Bburago. Usually people said that Bburago is a toy, but here the details looks not bad. The internal are impressive for me. Does Bburago have other models in 1:18 scale with this quality nowdays? I would like collect some Lamborghini cars from them if the quality is similar to the one you showed in this video :)
Yeah Bburago do other 1:18 models along with Maisto too. This is a much older model so that is why it seems so well made with so much attention to detail. Newer 1:18 Bburago models are still very nicely detailed. I do recommend some Maisto models too if you are interested in 1:18 Lamborghinis. It is subjective as to whether or not these are toys, however seeing as they are made of metal with fragile plastic parts I don't think they are really made to be toys. They're great for collectors like myself who can't be spending hundreds on a model. Thanks for watching 😁
@@firewaffle1 Thank you for the fast response. I agree, I don't want to spend a lot of money for diecasts too :) I will buy Bburago and Maisto then.
@@signornessuno5174 No problem, glad I could help 😁. Solido models (1:18) are a bit more expensive but have loads of amazing visual details (although lack physical functions such as opening bonnets and suspension, but still have doors and steering systems) If you are able to go to Costco, look out for Maisto models! (They are cheaper there, much cheaper)
@@firewaffle1 Thanks! :) New subscriber ;)
