Tennis With Gary - 2024 Highlights Part 1
🤡🤡
Pretty cool festival, except for the music. In Europe it is Tekno, Tribe, mental tribe, acidtek or psy trance. At Shambhala I hear a few drops of Sklilex, terrible and dnb even worse.
Shambhala has some of the best DJs from around the world. Not sure what you’re smokin lmao . There is amazing music there
Shambhala has 6 stages, and provide about 200 hours of Musical Content over the Festival. Their lineup is very respectable every year, drawing in world class artists from various electronic genres. I am not sure if you are disliking the music at Shambhala, or the music that i featured in this recap. If you have particular genres that you enjoy, i would suggest attending sets of that genre. All those genres that you mentioned, they exist at various places and times.
@@CanadianGinger69 - yeah, the Music of Shambhala always exceeds my expectations. Same with the artist quality and genre diversity. Given that the stages only hold a few thousand people at a time, i think that Shambhala generally does really well at balancing their artists during peak times.
@@garyquack19 I have nothing against the festival, it looks very good. The sure thing I noticed about everyone was the same Sklilez medieval drop. I'm glad to hear that there are other musical genres.
Do they have showers here?
yes, there are showers available. There are shower trucks, and, there is a shower building, similar to what you encounter at many campgrounds. Shower are included with Lodging Packages, or are a $6 pay per use. The more rugged option is to rinse off in the river, and put on clean socks and underwear after. This is where being organized and carrying a backpack comes in handy.
@@garyquack19 Thank you for the reply Gary, I enjoyed your video. Good to know they have showers, I was picturing everyone just going to the river. Thank you for explaining to this dumb city boy.
@@travisewald1 - hi Travis, i am glad that you enjoyed the video. Even though there are showers, i absolutely encourage people to rinse off in the river frequently. That is one of the features that separates Shambhala from most festivals. To be clear, rinsing off is not the same as washing off. Soaps and shampoos and body wash are expressly forbidden, as they would pollute the river. i view rinsing off a few times a day as a refreshing and enjoyable aspect of the festival experience.
BRO!!! YOU MADE THE AFTERMOVIE!!!! Youre very happy 😊. Congrats
Official Shambhala 2024 Aftermovie - ua-cam.com/video/51pd5MrGfWE/v-deo.htmlsi=m_wCAkPz9KHDMrQs - You found me! Thank you for sharing that, my friend! That is such a cool souvenir to be a part of the Official Aftermovie for the 25'th Anniversary. They did a great job with that video :) You know what really amuses me about my clip in the Aftermovie, is that the clip was at the DEF3 set. Ironically, that is the set on this vlog that I put up the caption: "Scene Missing". Scene missing......there it is! Things like that amuse me!
@@garyquack19 that's awesome bro!!! I watched your video maybe that day or a day earlier. You always try to see if you and your friends are in any of the videos and blogs people make. I would love it if someone saw me having a time and pointed it out hence why I did for you. I try to treat people the way I'd like to be treated. To be in the adtermovie for the 25th anniversary is a huge effing honor in my eyes. I'm happy I was the one who was able to let you know that. Hope to see you there next yr man!
that is a great attitude and philosophy, i love it! That is one of the reasons i like to display the names of the artists and sets that i attend - it makes it fun to see footage of a set that one has attended, so one knows where to look for oneself and friends. I got my 2025 ticket, and i will be making a vlog again next year, so be sure to say Hi if you see me. I am the kind of attendee that likes to plan my schedule in advance once the set times are posted, so feel free to reach out if you want to know where i will be. I would be happy to give you a cameo :)
@@garyquack19100%, that sounds like a plan my friend. In the mean time stay sage, happy and true Gary!!! Talk soon Godspeed
Raw, love it ❤
Thank you, i am glad that you enjoyed this video. The footage is just my Smartphone showing what my days looked like. Keeping it real :)
great video!
Thank you for the appreciation. I checked out your channel, I see that you were a fellow Thursday attendee in 2023. Thursday is a lot of fun - not quite the intensity of the weekend, but a much smaller, familiar and more intimate vibe. Here is a link to the 2023 Thursday video that you made, giving a good overview of the layout of the Amp, Living Room and Downtown, before the other four stages open up. - ua-cam.com/video/bCpHuPQfrho/v-deo.htmlsi=hu2D6gv98hRu6QFT
@@garyquack19 I absolutely am a Thursday attendee, lol. It was my 12th year in a row, each year I drive from the edge the eastern Canadian prairies and spend the entire Tuesday to Tuesday week on the farm. I appreciate you following my channel and your comments. Hope to see you on the dance floor next year!
@@djembesmitty- Oh wow, 12 in a row, thats what i love to hear! Tuesday to Tuesday too, that is great! You have got a good look at my face, make sure to come say hi if you see me next year, I would love to hear some opinions from you. Me, Every year i am getting braver and dancing in the front rows. The Village was my favourite Stage in 2024, and the Rinse Out was an absolute blast! It is a session that I am going to make a tradition of attending. I am going to start learning JumpStyle dancing just for that occasion. All the best, my friend! ~gary

I am happy that you enjoyed my vlog, thank you for watching my experience at the Shambhala Music Festival!
i miss the stinky swaty rave g strings ill smell them all
I saw you on Sunday in the Fractal Forest during the Funk Jam, you were wearing a green party hat having the time of your life! Awesome to find you vlog haha
Yes!!! I am super glad that you were there too! That was the place to be :) I absolutely was having the time of my life, i legit look forward to those moments all year! The green Party Hat lasted through the Funk Jam, until the following artist - Pineo Loeb - decided to play their remix version of Boom Boom Boom by Vengaboys, hahaha - it would have needed a rope and crazy glue to survive that madness. Great Times! Thank you for watching :)
the 9-2 nap time is so smart! refreshed for a full night into the morning. i haven’t been since 2019, thank you for sharing your video, feels like im back at the farm. :)
@@charlottehalle9929 - hi charlotte :) the night nap has been a key part of my strategy, and it allows me to stay up until the music ends each morning. It also makes 4 days of music feel like 8 days :) It does take discipline though, as temptation is real! Thank you for sharing your appreciation, and i hope that you are able to return again in the coming years!
every one of these drug fests are the same.
@@plutoplatters hi plutoplatters; I am intrigued by your expertise. I have questions; Your statement: is that a fact, or an opinion? Did you observe drug use on my vlog? To be clear - i don't encourage others to engage in that activity. That said, i do acknowledge and respect their free will to do so, so long as they are not causing harm to others. Some attendees choose to do yoga, and some choose to pray. Does that make Shambhala a yoga festival, or a prayer festival? Defining the Shambhala Music Festival as anything but a Music Festival is applying one's own bias. I am surprised that you found Shambhala indistinguishable from other festivals? i observed several festival attributes that set it apart from other Festivals. Let me elaborate: First off, obviously, it is an Electronic music festival, making it distinguishable from festivals of other genres, such as: Folk, Hip Hop, Rock, Country, Jazz, Punk, Metal, etc. Did you notice that the Shambhala Music Festival does not sell or allow alcohol. They actively search for it, confiscate it, and destroy it. Do the other festivals that you have attended share that policy? Do you think this is noteworthy? How about the location. Did you notice that it is not located in a large city? It is several hours drive to reach a city of a hundred thousand people. Did you notice that there are no hotels? Did you see how everyone was camping, and was essentially unable to leave the festival and return. Does that not make it distinguishable? What about how it is located on a farm, carved out of a forest, alongside a clean river that is safe to swim in? Is that standard for all festivals? Do you swim daily at other festivals? I don't recall dancing on, or even seeing any cement or pavement. However, i did see a permanent, 9 story tall building that turns a gazillion colours. In fact, all 6 stages are permanent structures, and, they all feature sturdy elevated areas for viewing and dancing. Is that a standard feature that all festivals provide? I didn't notice any Corporate Advertising and Sponsorship. I didn't see a Pepsi Stage or a McDonalds Tent or a Budweiser Billboard. Perhaps those Corporations are never present at Music Festivals, or, perhaps Shambhala is unique for refusing to accept Corporate influence. What about the men and women that attend Shambhala as guests, volunteers, staff and performers. Did you find that they were just average, unremarkable people that were not beautiful and special individuals capable of demonstrating some of the best attributes of our species? Not me. Personally, i found that many of the people that i would encounter at Shambhala were quite exceptional in all sorts of ways. I felt like i was gathered amongst some of the best and brightest of our species, and i found it quite exhilarating and inspiring to be amongst them. Did you feel that Shambhala doesn't care about its attendees? From harm reduction, to sanctuary, to access to clean drinking water, to security, to the large medical team, to the landscaping. Did you feel that Shambhala forgot to prioritize health, safety and well being? Do you think that all festivals achieve the same standards as Shambhala? Did you feel like Shambhala was a dirty festival littered with trash? Was the amount of debris at Shambhala comparable with other festivals? Do other festivals have as many gardens and natural features integrated into the landscape? Perhaps you do not appreciate these sorts of details, but i do. If your focus is limited to the existence of drugs, that is your choice. If you say that Shambhala is no different than other drug festivals - well, i strongly disagree. If you would like to challenge me on this, i would be more than happy to get your name and give you a chance to speak to the camera and share your wisdom. ~gary quakenbush
Awesome vid!! I walked by your tent a couple times a day hope to see you next year

@@hedfuka8608 - Thank you for checking out my vlog. I am really glad that you enjoyed watching it!
I'm stoked you captured the opening of Fractal! That was my favorite last year ❤
The opening of Fractal is always such a fun and festive vibe! It is certainly one of those special moments that is worth scheduling for! Funky, bouncy, friendly, and Freddy J plays lots of quirky and fun songs! Fractal Forest in the daytime is such a pleasant experience :)
DIRTWIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My man - glad to hear from a fellow Dirtwire fan! Such incredible artists they are - i counted at least a dozen instruments that they play! Between Moontricks and Dirtwire, the Swamptronica genre was well represented at the Living Room stage! And what a special surprise ending encore! A glimpse into what we can expect at Shambhala 2030 :)
@@garyquack19 Yeah buddy! Truly incredible what they are able to do, especially in person! There's Dead-Heads out there but I'm well on my way to being a Dirt-Head (lol?). The live experience is better than any other shows I've been to! I didn't catch Moontricks this year (noob), but will not miss them again! I've never heard of Swamptronica, I love it haha. YEAH DUDE I see what you mean there ;)
Dirt-head! I have never heard that, but makes total sense! I just saw that Moontricks and Dirtwire will be doing some touring together in the fall of 2024, so maybe you will get to see them both at the same place and time one day, fingers crossed :)
More creeps and predators there then in church. Insane what this scene has evolved into.
@@ChiefThanos - hi, Chief Thanos; that is an interesting observation that you have made. Did you observe creepy or predatory behaviour yourself while attending, or did you observe that behaviour in my vlog? I personally have spent more than 3 weeks of my life at the Shambhala Music Festival, and i have yet to observe any harassment or violence with my own eyes or ears. All things considered, i find that quite remarkable given that there are 20,000 people constantly partying, with no police or law enforcement there to enforce the legal acts, statutes, codes and policies that govern regular society. To be clear Chief Thanos, you feel that you have visited: cities, or campuses, or sporting events, or workplaces, or parties, or venues that are open to the international public, where there have been tens of thousands of people gathered for prolonged periods of time - that have a culture where ones rights and freedoms are upheld and preserved more than at Shambhala? Would you care to share such an event or location with me? I sincerely would love to consider attending such a gathering, that sounds delightful. I also would love to see what that gathering or location is doing that exceeds the standards of Shambhala, so that perhaps Shambhala can improve in that area. Would you be interested in explaining your opinion on camera, so that i can share your insight with my viewers? You mention that Shambhala has evolved. When was the last time that you attended? How was it better when you were last in attendance? What improvements would you like to see?
OMG Loved your vlog!! Happy to see more of Shamb 2024 through your perspective!
Thank You, my friends. I sincerely drew inspiration to Vlog my experience this year from watching yallzz 2022 and 2023 Shambhala vlog. I saw that yallzz did not attend this year, but hopefully yallzz will make it back to Shambhala again in one of the coming years, and will have your best Shambhala to date! Enjoy the rest of your summer my friends! ~gary
OMG when marty carter came down to the river and played to us, it was such a beautiful experience. What a fantastic set to start the day.
That is a great example of one of the reasons Shambhala is so special! Not only is there a quality river so close to a stage that the performers can literally walk to it while playing an instrument - but the fact that Shambhala always brings several artists that play instruments despite it being an Electronic Music festival.
Great vlog! Looks like an amazing time :)
Thank you for the compliment! Yes, it absolutely was a great time - i feel blessed to have been a part of it once again! I am glad you enjoyed the video :)

@@internetmike- it was my sincere pleasure to document my Shambhala 2024. It is always the highlight of my year, and now others can see why i am so fond of my time there. Thank you for watching, my friend :)
watch the center line on serves - first serve of the video is a foot fault since the right foot crosses the center line
You are correct, thank you. Our group is much better at returning than serving. None of us serve over 75MPH very often. So, foot fault or not, the receiver is probably going to have no problem making a play on the serve, thus, we don't bother worrying about that rule. We also play balls that were 'probably' out quite often. We swing at terrible ball tosses a lot too (rather than catching it and re-tossing). We even get beat 'down the middle' a lot, because we would rather lose the point than risk damaging our rackets on collisions. We call our own balls OUT quite frequently too. this combination of quirks makes for enjoyable sessions with very little drama and confrontations, and allows us to play many more points per hour than players at most tennis clubs. i speak for most the group when i say that we couldn't care less if our opponent foot faults.
nice moves!
thanks BVN, i was having fun!

good work Gary! keep up the content! I really think your art might benefit from an instrumental. Eitherway, God bless. did you write this song after reading ecclesiastes?
this track, as with most of mine, are homages to something already great - ua-cam.com/video/cclQ3tlcqps/v-deo.html - this already exists, and is better than any music i can craft.......in the future, i plan to have a vast catalogue of poems, and a team of musicians (like you).....when an audience / festival books GRENZZ, they can choose what poems/songs/tracks will be performed - BUT - the music will be unique and customized; you book the lyricist - you select the (majority) of the songs.....then the lyricist and the musician team craft original content for the event......in contrast to the band that goes on tour and plays the studio version of their songs over and over to an expectant audience...... my unique contribution to this project is the enunciation and tweaking of the lyrics, combined with my custom visualizers.......i am not the brains behind the actual lyrics or phantom music......the songs i cover are already really solid.....i like to tweak them and present them in the raw as a visual experience - for free; if i was charging for this, i can see why the audience would demand music for their money; i am not a musician yet, haha; but yes, if someone offered me money to make a song, i would have to use music - and that would require a team......but i am content with monopolizing the spoken word visualizer industry before it exists.....if i have 100 of these and someone wants to "be the best" - they will have to get past this content first......... if there was a music contest where people had to compete in their underwear in the middle of an empty room with no items whatsoever to use - only their mouth....THEN this would be a little more impressive - as people try to outdo it themselves.......until then, i am okay with being a laughingstock to the musicians with revenue streams - one day i will assemble the right combination of people for the right purpose and deliver some content that sets the bar to a new height; enjoy the link;

See you make loops, this video is a loop! Very well done, did you play the keys or type them? This song transforms a lot, that's cool. You should produce more and make some rap tracks. Your cyphers with backing music like this would be sick, if they were on time together.
Spitting all the facts
hehe, not all of them - this is song 9 of 56 in the album - ua-cam.com/video/sjAJ0iSac68/v-deo.html - here is the same song with a tiny intro and all the visualizers attached - the playlist is a runtime of approximately one hour, and has two (soon three) brief musical interruptions - click the purple cartoon character to be warped to song one of 56, in order; enjoy;

keep up the clever writing and performance! If you set your mind to it you can make it anything you want!
I really like this video. I appreciate how you use clips from videos portraying similar themes! Why don't you rhyme on beats? interesting choice! keep up the good work!
thank you ; well.... what if in the future, audiences fall in love with their favourite lyrics and voices in the silence - and then when they go to the show, they already know all the words, so it is up to the artist to "bring it".....and the crowd has no idea what sounds are going to hit them - but they will know the lyrics when it happens.......a good lyricist would have a crew of many musicians of many genres to provide scripted but unique experiences, interrupted by the lyrics (with music) of the words that brought them to the live show;
