    Quite disappointed with this. Was also very excited for a short while but vital features are missing. Both for levels and links I need to add the shares / absolute values as a label that's it, all other limitations would be fine. This is just not supported. How to use the diagram in a business context without the ability to actually show how much of the flow is going where is a mystery to me. In the early promo videos of this labels even existed they removed them later. Tableaus attitude is not what I expect of a business parter.

    I had very similar experiences with this extension. I used to build them from scratch and was *so* excited to not have to build a million calculations per category and curve. But for my use cases (following groups of students over time) it's critical that I can keep colors and tooltips consistent over the course of a chart to show flow patterns. This is a huge leap forward, but I think I'll need to keep my manual versions for a while longer. Thanks for this video. It helped confirm what I was seeing and ensured I wasn't missing something critical. :)

    If not notice, the moment you convert a numerical value to a string, in this case Sales, Tableau converted your Sales value to ASCII characters values and tried to sort Sales based on ASCII character value and not actual sales values. Hence 274 is ranked 8th while 2896 is below that, which is factually incorrect!

    I am at the create dynamic labels section and I am using COUNT instead of SUM (that is the most appropriate for the data I am using). However, it will not produce a null, it shows a zero for all false statement for the subcategory filter. Is there a way around this?

I do have a small problem after I applied the "dynamic" calculations the chart display the values for the selected sub-categories but it also shows '0' for the other subcategories even thought they are greyed out. I am hoping you might know a way to display the values for the selected subcategory only. Again great video and thank you.

      coined a workaround - create another calculated field that uses the 'Dynamic subcategory sales label" and use the logic as If Dynamic subcategory sales label >0 THEN Dynamic subcategory sales label ELSE Null and drag that to the label and it will show only values greater than 0

    Awesome video with clear steps! I ran into a problem with my implementation that I am hoping you have a solution for. I have just gotten to the step of creating the dynamic labels, and they work great. In my dataset, I have 'Brand' and 'Style' where each Brand has one or more styles (just like how each Category has multiple Sub-Categories in your video). For the brands that have several styles, the labels pop up perfectly. However, for the brands that only have one style, no label pops up at all and I cannot figure out why they wouldn't or how to get them to appear. Any advice?

    This is awesome. I have been working on tableau since 2 years and I always create measure to rename things. but now I don't have to do that. This is very easy. although it comes with one disadvantage that if someone wants to know that what is actual column name, they have to click on the field and press down arrow to get correct column name. Many people won't know the fields can be renamed like this and they will search for forever to get correct name. Let me know if I am wrong.

    I'm trying to build the table with 8 columns. Do you have any clue on how to do it? I'm using avg(0) as column 1, min(0) to min(-5) as columns from 2 to 7 and measure values as the last column as you have shown.

    • @downtoearthdatatips
      @downtoearthdatatips Рік тому

      Hi Estibaliz, it depends on the alignment you want to achieve! You can also use avg(0) for all 8 columns. That way all of them will have the same distance from each other. The way you described, the distance from one column to the next gradually grows, if that's what you want to achieve, then that's okay!

    • @estibalizmartinez3592
      @estibalizmartinez3592 Рік тому

      @@downtoearthdatatips In fact I wanted that all the columns have the same distance so your approach is what I was looking for! ^^ I've tried constructing all columns with min(0) and it seems to work well too. The only issue that I have now it's that my first column have 'Full Name' value and under it the 'ID' value, but some full names are too long :(( Do you know if there is a way to split the long names in more lines or something so they aren't cut?

    • @downtoearthdatatips
      @downtoearthdatatips Рік тому

      @@estibalizmartinez3592 Unfortunately, I don't know a way to achieve this other than to (1) enlarge the width of the dashboard or (2) to set the dashboard to Fit Width instead of Fit Entire View. This way you might have the sheet scrolling horizontally and make the values more readable. I just tested it, it is an improvement but it doesn't completely fix the readability issue

    • @estibalizmartinez3592
