Fallout 4: Opening Scene Nuclear Explosion, But Made More Accurate.

I was replaying some FO4 and decided I'd fiddle around a bit with the scene of the first detonation as the vault platform lowers. I ducked the explosion audio a bit, then added a proper brilliant white double flash that's indicative of true nuclear detonations (Apparently it's one of the primary things Bhangmeters detect to determine if an explosion is nuclear and/or to determine yield) and add...

    • @GamingHelp
      @GamingHelp 28 днів тому

      That would depend on your kind of pad. I've recently tested a few other things, one of which is beeswax. Like, the real deal from a beekeeper. If you have a hard pad though, you can pretty much just try stuff and wash it off with soap/water and a small scrub brush (Plastic bristles only for obvious reasons). I suspect any decent furniture polish will work, but the one thing I've noticed regardless of what I've used is that in many cases, less is more. By that, I mean apply it sparingly. You could just try whatever you have on hand. I'd try and apply whatever you're trying on a very tiny spot that won't bug you if it gets buggered up though. Some plastics and various solvents don't get along well and may melt the surface so try a tiny bit on the very edge or something.

    Update: I decided to try and make a video of the "use a body, fill em up and drag em" approach. I didn't even get it fully recorded before I was reminded why it doesn't really help much: Bodies disappear randomly. Sometimes you can go back a dozen times in a row and a body will be there, sometimes they'll disappear the first time you leave an area and come back. So, I found a particular body I liked, dragged him into a hidden spot on the opposite side of the machine gun nest and started loading him up. My VERY last loop of "leave area, respawn, come back, shoot them all, loot, fill body, repeat", I went to drop the rest onto the guy and drag him and POOF! He was gone. He was gone and my 30-40 rifles, grenades, etc, were all gone with him. *sad face*

    Correct me if I'm wrong but the main issue with mouse acceleration is the inconsistency when it comes to small to medium adjustments flicks, for example when you are tracking a target that is short strafing. As the acceleration threshold of your profile is met the acceleration and deceleration kicks in at a high pace every time you switch direction and this with different peaks as your mouse movement and acceleration is not consistent due to the short travel distance of your mouse ending up in unpredictable crosshair movement. If there was a way to cancel this out by "telling" the accel software through the mouse firmware to use the low sensitivity point of the profile until a certain CPI distance is met, the issue would be resolved. This means no acceleration for small micro-flick movement no matter how fast you move your mouse and acceleration the moment you need it.

    • @GamingHelp
      @GamingHelp 2 місяці тому

      For the most part, I think what you explained is pretty much on point. The one thing I would say is that even though fast short flicks FEEL fast, you'd actually be surprised how much slower the actual distance per unit time is compared to a wide flick. I've actually been meaning to add some code to this project for years now, but never seem to get around it and it's mostly for similar reasons to what you mention here. I'd like to be able to have a couple variables that can be twiddled to prevent changes in sensitivity while tracking. Basically, for movements that are obviously not flicks and for movements that are "still on the ramp" (aka, haven't hit peak sens yet, but are past any offset), be able to configure it so that microstutter in movements doesn't also result in microstutter in sensitivity as well. I finally found a copy of visual studio 2012 though so maybe I'll get around to it one of these days. :) Thanks for commenting!!

    • @Freezera86
      @Freezera86 2 місяці тому

      @@GamingHelp Thank you for the explanation. Movement that is indeed still on the ramp might be an issue as well, although I cannot imagine it very clearly at this point as you are tracking the acceleration should be almost non-existent and if your profile is set up somewhat decent this should not be an issue. But I need to dive deeper into this to identify all the quirks.

    Good video idea, looking at demos is the best way to improve :) As CT, I recommend you to start looking at where your teammate/s aren't looking, for example if your teammate goes long you can watch short / aps, or vice versa, so that you don't get an unexpected rush and you don't give them free space to play like in 6:58, also in 5:48 I wouldn't recommend you to buy another weapon because you had the AUG which is very expensive and very good, so you can save your money to buy the AWP after you die, anyways, that kind of stuff you will learn it from just playing :)

    • @frankitob11
      @frankitob11 3 місяці тому

      Also, don't be too worried about not planting the bomb on Wingman (2v2) mode, because in that mode you never win for planting the bomb, sure it will give you money for planting, and will make the CTs to have to come to you, but it is A LOT less important than in 5v5 (because the maps are half as big and the time for the bomb to explode is the same)

    • @frankitob11
      @frankitob11 3 місяці тому

      Lastly, I highly recommend you to start throwing utility, specially as CT, because you are buying grenades but not using them. The two most important ones are the smokes and the mollys. If you throw a smoke / molly to where you are looking, a lot of times you will stop the strategy of the TTs, because if they wanted to go that way they will have to either wait, and win you time, or rush the smoke / molly, and that would be a very easy kill for you

    • @GamingHelp
      @GamingHelp 3 місяці тому

      Wow, thanks for taking the time to reply man! Much appreciated! Yeah, the throwing throwables is something I kind figured I was sucking hard at. I think a good chunk of it is simply due to being so new at it that my fingers/brain still struggles to figure out how to select stuff in a timely fashion. One thing I noticed a while back was the menu/option wheel. I need to have another look at it and maybe pick a bind (I use an external keypad so *all* my binds are custom) and give that a try for a while. I've noticed that a lot of the time, when I think about using a throwable, my first instinct is "But I don't have time to fumble through menu's and I'll just end up getting shot while I have some random thing in my hand", but I did play with the wheel thing for a few minutes a while back and it seemed like it might be a good option. I think the big thing for me will be if the menu choices are static or not. If the menu is always the same so I can learn muscle memory of just hit a "bring up the wheel" and flick to what I want, that'll probably work out well. I should probably try out a few more weapons than the 3-4 I've latched on too as well. Lol! Thanks again for taking the time to reply! :)

    How often do you replace your mousefeet? I hate the process of replacing mousefeet and the increased wear is what is stopping me from fully committing to my glass pad. I do love the idea of getting a teflon sheet as I hate the markup on aftermarket feet but I am not sure how I would cut smooth curves. On my mouse the feet are in an indented part of the plastic. (edit: I also just found ptfe "dot" mousefeet available online that are much more universal and not mouse specific. Any opinions about those kind of mousefeet?)

    • @GamingHelp
      @GamingHelp 3 місяці тому

      It's hard to really quantify that, but you seen the sheet I have here in this video. I've been using it for about half a decade or so and I still have PLENTY of it left. The one thing I could say about the shaped thing is that you could just do what *I* do and just make square or rectangles ones. Instead of sticking them in the original positions, I also often put them a bit further out so they're as close to the edges as possible, sometimes even just sticking out a tiny bit. By getting them as close to the edges, the mouse feels a *lot* more stable. If you do need to cut the shaped stuff though, you could just trace the originals onto the new teflon sheet and cut them out with scissors. PTFE (Teflon) is *really* soft stuff, much softer than most plastics. Really, with how cheap a sheet of teflon is, you could just get some and play around. This is actually how *I* tend to discover helpful stuff myself. You could also just cut out small squares out of the PTFE sheet and use them like the "dot" feet and put a couple at the outer edges where the original feet went. You could also put the new feet close to the original feet, but further out if you can (towards the edge if there's room). Personally, for how long a sheet lasts and how cheap it is to just play around, I'd just get some and give it a go. In my case, that 12" by 12" sheet will probably last me the rest of my life even fiddling around endlessly like I do. I've refooted probably a dozen different mice already and in some cases, dozens of times for some of them. Also, how's the friction on that glass pad? Does it seem low like the plastic surfaced hardpads?

      @@GamingHelp Well you have certainly gotten me interested in trying my hard pads again! I will definitely look into getting a PTFE sheet! My experience with hard pads is a Glorious Helios (plastic pad, and now called the Glorious Air I believe) and Razer Atlas (Glass pad). I am not sure how the Helios compares to the Logitech plastic pad so take that in consideration. I cannot use my Helios side by side at the moment but it is definitely faster than the glass pad. The Helios felt almost uncontrollable to me. The glass pad is still very fast but has just enough control for me to be precise. I think you could definitely speed up the glass pad with polish if its too slow although I have not tried. As for overall quality the glass pad absolutely dominates the plastic one in every way. I like my glass pad much more and since you already like hard pads I think you will love it! I am very interested to see how your "sheet of textured glass" experiment from the other comment goes!

      This is a good question! If I had to guess, I would think it would be outstanding as well, but I haven't ever tried one so I don't really know. I WOULD like to try one though. I bought a sheet of textured glass to try as a pad, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I suspect the glass pads would last longer than the plastic topped ones though! That's the biggest reason I'm considering trying one myself. The plastic ones are ridiculously good performance and that dressing pad thing I showed here makes it so that it only takes seconds to modify the friction in any way you want and in any place you want, but they do still wear over time, even if it takes half a decade. :) If you ever get a chance to use one, I'd love to hear how you like it though!

I do a LOT of stuff that pounds a machine at 100% cpu for days to weeks at a time and so I had to undervolt the chip and mod the cooling system. I added an extra copper heat bridge between the heat spreader and far end of the heat pipe made out of 2mm copper which also added a pile of surface area. Then, I went through and opened up the air passages on the intake side as well. It still gets hot to be sure, but at least it's not flipping out and the firmware isn't shutting it down anymore! :P Does yours ever shut down on you?

I think this is an issue with my charger, though. Supposedly this can happen if the embedded controller thinks the AC power adapter can't sustain enough current. The hottest I ever got the machine was building the Linux kernel. It's okay most of the time but the cooler is very weak.

What other causes exist out there ? I love your setup to chill and play at the same time, I always hoped the gaming peripherals would allow a similar thing out of the box, like console play allows... But it hasn't come yet... Anyways cheers to you, the yt algorithm has brought me here, and thank you for the videos!

    • @GamingHelp
      @GamingHelp 9 місяців тому

      Hey Tenns! Thanks for commenting! I'm not really sure how to describe how common it is, but it's common enough that most doctors have at least heard of it. Having said that, it's also rare enough that most doctors have ONLY heard of it. When I first tried to figure out what was wrong, I seen hundreds of doctors in desperation. The only way I ever found one that knew anything about it was to talk to the CFS/ME society of our province (Provinces are like U.S. states). As for causes, the two big ones are life threatening viral infections or serious physical trauma, especially rough stuff like car accidents. In my case, it's hard to say which one caused it, but I had a pile of infections all at roughly the same time. If I had to guess, I think the dysentery is the one that triggered it. I still had mono when this happened, but the dysentery was bad. I mean BAD bad. I didn't know you could lose that much blood and not die. And I lost blood like that all day, every day for about two weeks. What's strange about CFS though is that for some people (And I'm in this group), getting a coronavirus infection (As in, a traditional cold virus) will often make us feel better. I still remember the first time this happened. At the time, I was usually sleeping 16 to 18 hours a day, then spending a few hours up. Even then, I was still just dragging my arse like someone had perpetually just shaken me out of a deep sleep. Then I got a regular old cold. Typical cold stuff. Eyes just running constantly, constantly sniffing and snorting, plugged sinuses, coughing steady, etc. And yet, I felt SO good that when bedtime came, I didn't even bother. That first day, I only got a couple of hours of sleep and yet I STILL felt amazing. Second day, same thing. At this point, it's been a few days and I've only got a couple of hours of sleep. Yet, I still feel amazing. This went on for about four days maybe, maybe a bit longer. I would get a few hours a night at most, yet I still felt absolutely sharp as a tack. But, this highlights just how bad CFS destroys your life. Even with a cold, even with only a few hours of sleep a night, even half a week of that, I STILL felt WAY WAY WAY better than I normally did with just the CFS. Even Covid did this to me after the initial B.S. that almost killed me. The first three days, it was almost entirely in my lungs and attacking my heart. But after it backed off a bit, I got a few days of this "cold virus CFS cure" thing. Very strange. :/ And thanks again for taking the time to comment. If ya have any other questions about it, feel free to ask. :)

      Awww! I'm sorry to hear you lost your own little friend. :( What happened to your kitty?!?! And yes, I'm very lucky to have her. I'm almost completely housebound (I leave my house a few times a year) and I generally see other people only a couple of times a year (Christmas and sometimes once or twice in between) so I'm pretty much by myself, but she's such a good little friend, I don't really notice. It's wonderful to have a tiny little friend like her! I often wondered if she really loved me or if she just liked me for food and such. So, I once pretended to leave the house and drive to town. I got the ex GF to start the car and drive out of the driveway. Then, I stood outside of the door and listened. The poor little bugger laid on the floor by the front door, peering through the tiny gap at the bottom trying desperately to see what was happening and crying in distress. Just every single breath. Inhale, cry, inhale, cry... That sad sort of cry that's like a human baby. She literally laid there and cried herself to sleep. Poor little bugger! So, the very few times I've had to leave the house, I have someone come and visit her often. My brother checked her for me once. He HATES cats. The only reason he agreed was because he likes me. I called him a few days later to see how she was doing. I asked "So, how's Nawnee doing!?!". He said "Not good. Not very good". For him to say that, she must have been losing her mind. Needless to day, we're as close as close can be. I think she thinks she's actually my GF or wife. In fact, my ex GF, when she was still here, Nawnee (my kitty) was SO jealous of her that at night, she'd get in between me and my GF and physically push us apart. And I was 250 pounds at the time and my GF was heavy too. The person that got the "feet" got four tiny bruises. It's astounding how strong she is. Then, after pushing us apart, Nawnee would jump over onto my right side again, curl up in her spot, I'd put my hand on her little hip (We slept with her curled up and my palm resting on her little kitty hip) and we'd go back to sawing proverbial logs. :) She's been an amazing little friend! I'm actually scritching her while I type this. She keeps sticking her head over the keyboard trying to get me to stop paying attention to the laptop.

      Also, funny story: When my ex told me I should get a cat, I said "I need a cat like another hole in my head". When she brought Nawnee home (This kitty), I pointed at her, laughed and said "That's the ugliest cat I've ever seen". 24 hours later, she was my best friend and she's been in physical contact with me for at least 12 to 18 hours a day for 20 years now. Until she got old enough that she gets confused sometimes and wakes me up at night, she even slept with me. I'd go to bed, she'd jump up, curl up beside me, I'd put my right hand on her little kitty hip and when I'd wake up 16 to 18 hours later (CFS is a bugger of an illness), she was still in the same place with my hand on her. She would get up once in a while to get a snack, use the litter box and get a drink, but then just come back in, jump up, curl up and even while asleep, I'd just put my hand back on her hip. If you have serious health issues and need a tiny friend that's easy to look after, you can't do better than a cat. Just remember, they're not a dog. You get what you give. Be kind and respect boundaries and don't be a bully (Remember, you're as big as an elephant to them) and treat them with love and many cats will turn into your bestest friend in the entire world.

    What’s your opinion on the state of the game?

    • @GamingHelp
      @GamingHelp 10 місяців тому

      Well, I probably have a semi unique opinion on this being an ex developer myself. Now, I should mention, I haven't read the actual "state of the game" release they did, but it's all the same stuff. Many of us are old enough that we remember how things used to be. People wanted to make great products, they worked hard, built them, tested them to death, then released them. We tested so much for a reason. I'll give you an example. One of my first big jobs was a six month long database project. I busted my butt on that software for half a year. When I got to testing, I beat it to death. I tested it on every single OS I could find. Every single machine, new and old. New OS installs, old OS installs, I fed it garbage, I ripped pieces of the OS out, I COULD NOT MAKE IT BREAK. We shipped. IT IMMEDIATELY failed. Lol! (And, as is often the case, it was MS's fault, aka, the upstream vendor). So, Bungie isn't kidding when they say development is hard. It is. It's the single hardest thing humans do these days. BUT... this is where I depart with Bungie. Right around the time I got sick and left the industry, we were starting to see all these sweeping changes in how we were approaching things. Team programming, extreme programming, agile, etc. Agile won out. We simply DO NOT build software the way *I* did anymore. We used to test for months before release. We had entire teams for it or dedicated entire time periods to it in smaller companies. Not anymore. Companies have all realized, the internet exists, there's no downside to shipping broken stuff. Plus, you're getting stuff into people's hands possibly years faster than you may have otherwise done. YAY! Everyone profits! Not so fast. What's eventually happened is that companies have "converged" on the idea that nothing matters anymore. You can half ass your way through stuff now because it doesn't matter. If you ship something so busted it's unusable, no biggie, just increment that sucker from version 1.0 to 1.01 and ship again! This idea has consequences of GIGANTIC magnitude in the long term. Developers and executives get lazy and can often get bad habits. End users get tired of CONSTANTLY fighting with bugs. And I guarantee you, part of the current frustration with gamers is long term pent up frustration of bugs and issues. I'll say it again, I guarantee you that Bungie will shut the game down and you STILL won't be able to reliably join people at the tower and they'll still have bugs peppered through every single part of the game. We've entered the era of "It's good enough". And that mindset infects everything. It's good enough quality, it's good enough content. It's good enough updates and new/refreshed content... Now let's milk it for as long as we can. I get that Bungie needs to make money. That's WHY we write software in the commercial world. But I don't think the current model is viable long term. Even MS eventually backed off the "**** you, take this update" pace they had. Personally, considering it's the underlying foundation of the modern world, I think they need to back off right back to no more than quarterly releases, one a year with a mid year twiddle would be better. But the software world in general has changed and mindsets have changed with it. Myself, I LOVE Destiny. It's BY FAR my favorite game. But the development fiasco's have frustrated me greatly and I'm just tired of the perpetual half assery. Even more so, I'm tired of knowing FIRST HAND why it is the way it is, then hearing them publicly say it like "Don't over deliver, you're just creating patterns" and the B.S. that amounted to "bugs don't matter". That B.S. has been frustrating ALL of us for years at this point and in my case, when they ripped up crucible, it was the end for me. You'll notice I don't really post new gameplay. That's because I haven't even opened the game for half a year. Yes, I still post old content and I still want to try and help people who want to work on their aim and game skills, but myself, I'm not playing Rift. And since the only thing I can play that's not a rotating thing (I can only play 3v3's. the 6's are again, frustratingly buggy and busted for me) IS comp, that means I'd perpetually be playing a mode that's LITERALLY designed to work with coms in a game that's shipped FROM THE FACTORY with busted coms. And they're busted to this day. When a triple A studio can't negotiate NAT, something's wrong. And realistically, we all know what it is now. Bungie has peeled back the curtain enough that we've all finally got a peek of how modern software is made. In fact, this same half assed nonsense is why I'm not typing this on windows. I rolled my own OS from the kernel up with BSD and built everything. Hell, I even compiled the browser I'm using. And why? Because I"m tired of the bugs, I'm tired of testing software for free. I'm tired of fighting with stuff just to get stuff done. And, in the case of Destiny, I'm tired of the bugs and I'm tired of the company REPEATEDLY doing things they know aren't well received. Anywho, it's a bit long (Lol!), but that's my take on where things are.

CFS screws with pretty much everything in your body. Your brain can't switch modes to enter deep sleep (I get zero minutes of slow wave sleep. We've done the polysomnograph to prove it), you can't maintain your temperature, digestion quits at random or runs backwards (Yes, that's as unhappy as it sounds), you can only eat certain things, you constantly feel so run down you feel like you've been drugged, your glands all swell up, and all kinds of other stuff.

    • @GamingHelp
      @GamingHelp 10 місяців тому

      Hi zstrankoor! Absolutely! The first step is to go in to the game that you've got calibrated now and with the mouse you have calibrated now, then "measure it like in my aim trainer calibration video: ua-cam.com/video/mO6D11Zp-qU/v-deo.html So, as an example, in my case, I use a sensitivity where 117 millimeters of mouse movement will JUST move an object from touching one side of the screen to just touching the other side. If I'm setting up a new game, I just find some reference object in the game with a sharp edge like a doorway or something. It doesn't really matter what it is, so long as it has a good sharp line you can line up with the edge of the screen accurately. Then, in the game, I move that point until it's JUST touching the edge of the screen on one side, then I move my mouse 117 millimeters (I just put little scratches at the bottom of my mouse pad) and see how far the object moves. If it didn't move far enough, my sensitivity is too low, if it moved too far, it's too high. I'm going to explain a related thing in a different comment so they're less confusing. Also, let me know if you would like me to describe any of this in a different way or different analogies. I may take a bit to get back to you though, my health is pretty rough these days so I'm in and out a bit. And thanks for taking the time to reply. :)

      So, you might notice that most people use a measurement of centimeters per 360. The reason I stopped using this measurement for calibration is simple: the centimeter per 360 measurement doesn't take a games FOV into account. A 40CM per 360 at 70 degree FOV is a totally different feel (it'll feel higher) than a 40CM per 360 at 105 degree FOV.

      Oh, and one last thing, if you've found the calibration process as helpful as *I* have, you may want to do the same thing *I* did and make some kind of reference object to use for calibration. In my case, I scratched some small marks at the bottom of my mousepad (I use a hard pad), but anything that helps you know how far it is would work. A plastic straw cut to the right size, marking the distance on a piece of paper, a small ruler with some pieces of tape on it at the right place, just use a ruler itself and "measure" it each time, whatever works for ya and ya have lying around.
