    That awesome,i have questions,when we replace low arm to axle,wht axle we can use?

    • @forgottengarage9771
      @forgottengarage9771 3 місяці тому

      Because of how much work it takes you can use any axle that fits the way you want to build it. Someone I know built a 83 kingcab using 10 bolt chevy axles from a k5 blazer. Im personally using dana 44 front and rear with about a 60" wms measurement.

    These Nissan 7204x4 are amazing tough trucks and they literally go anywhere and the z24engine was very reliable. Step dad had one recab four wheeler and it would pull Larson ski boat up hill driveway 1mile long rock

    Hell yeah brother! I remember seeing your old crawler listed around here on marketplace and thinkin, damn that’s cool. Well looks like I just came into possession of my own 720! Wondering if you got advice or sources for an inexperienced mechanic to build up his lil rig on a budget friendly scale. I’m lovin the way your build is lookin man!

      To be completely honest If you want a capable 720 for mild trails. Fix the strut rod bushing bracket and run a set of good 30" tires and power wont be much of an issue. The platform was good by itself I daily drove this one on 31s for 6 years. Even with the stock carb.

      @@forgottengarage9771 I appreciate you respondin to me. Need more folks like you willing to share their knowledge. I think this would be great as a simple and enjoyable daily. For longer term how easily you reckon I could bolt up these dana 60s I got here?

    • @forgottengarage9771
      @forgottengarage9771 5 місяців тому

      Not a problem about responding. As for the dana 60s its a ton of grinding to get the frame clean of all the brackets but other then that its just making sure its square under the chassis you dont want to be crab walking down the road If it gets driven on the road.

    My 720 rear end also blew up and I’m looking for a new rear end. Pretty sure it’s 4.10 gearing. Any clue on what’s compatible gear ratio/lug patern wise for it?

    • @forgottengarage9771

      For a direct Bolt in I cant be of much assistance. The Isuzu axle Im using tick most of the boxes, same lug pattern, gear ratio of either 4.10 or 4.30 with factory limited slip.

    Get a tranny and tcase out of a 4cyl hardbody. Its married up drivers drop and bolts to your napz motor.For your caster just hang the springs and get shims to put beween them and the axle once you figure out where the caster is with your set up.The axle needs to be like 2" forward so when the spring compresses the tire stays off the floorboard.

    • @forgottengarage9771

  • @goingfubar7182
    @goingfubar7182 2 роки тому

    Back in the early 2000's I had acquired a 1981 720 extra cab 4x4 at an auction. Someone in the past had totally tricked out, they had dropped a chevy 350 motor with a turbo 350 automatic transmission, a Dana 60 rear end and a whole lot of other things. It would take me all night to list everything that had been done to that truck, but from the outside of the truck all that stood out was it had dual exhaust and a box on top of the roof that was the condenser for the AC ( which was working). Now this had been professionally done I had wanted to keep it till I checked out and then be buried in it. How ever it was not to be, I had been injured in 1984 and it took till 1999 before I found a doctor who knew what was actually wrong. Then it took over 7 years to get my disability. So I had to let it go, it was an amazing truck. I once did a run from a small town in SE Az to LA in six hours ( a little over 600 miles) but the speedometer only went to 85 mph, and it was peg the whole way there. It was a great truck and I really hated to let it go, but with no income and my condition was getting worse I had no choice. Someone in Tucson Az bought it and I have no idea what happened to it. Anyway they are a great little truck and have lots of potential. So good luck with your project. 👍😎😎😎🐈🦅🗽🦅🇺🇲

    How hard are parts to find for these old trucks? I found a 1985 4X4 with 125k miles on it in decent shape and may have a trade going down. I like the truck, but afraid if anything happens I may not be able to find parts for it. It runs great now.

    • @forgottengarage9771
      @forgottengarage9771 2 роки тому

      Parts can be challenging to find because there are very few bolt on parts for them. With the recent gain in interest for 720's stock replacement parts are becoming harder to find. I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to own one just know that there is a reason I have three when I have to wait on parts for one I drive another.
