They may be faster stonger and bigger but with AAU teams that put more weight on just shooting three pointers and guys in college less there is no way they are more fundamentally sound and skilled. There is a reason why all the europeans are doing so well. Because they are more skilled than the american born players nowadays

Players today look better mostly due to the rule changes that basically allows them uninterrupted movement on the open courts, and when in close proximity to other players, that's it. On the flip side I would argue that the players from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s were better skilled because they had to be, in fact they had to be highly skilled at their particular position because they didn't get to act like MJ when it came to scoring or they would end up riding the bench, and they had to be skilled at defense, where today not many players in the league are very good at defense, and every player today thinks he's a point guard no matter the position.
