Debunking Myths & Misconceptions about Ancient Rome
In this video I go through a selection of some of the more common myths, misconceptions or lies told about ancient Rome. I discuss whether Romans really always wore Togas, if Togas were always white, if Rome was purposefully split into east and west, if Rome was really sacked by simple Barbarians, and if Decadence caused the Fall of the Roman Empire.

    Apart from saying 'aircrafts' instead of 'aircraft' as a plural, that was really quite good.

    I wouldn't have wanted to be on the ground and in the path of the Russian ground attack formations. I attempted to imagine myself as a Soviet pilot back in 1943. The Illyushin-22 Sturmoich, flying in formations very low to the ground. The U.S. gave Russia .50 cal machine guns specifically for the Il-22. A tough workhorse!

    7:30 and some nerds still talk about tone wood, when the electric guitar OG literally only put the two pieces of wood there so it would look like a guitar. Some will argue about he type of wood, the shape, if its hollow or not. When this dude made one literally with a slab of plywood.

    The Fokker Dr.1 was both a succesful and unique design, but your point about the wings is true. However, the Fokker designers handled this by making a rather different wing design that it's pre-production version, which worked. Just a little too late to make a difference. But, therefore it was given to a lot of top aces, who shot down quite big numbers of enemy airplanes in the Fokker Dr.1 Were they just good pilots? No, the Fokker Dr.1, when handled properly and with the right amount of skill, was a very good fighter aircraft. And lastly, the red baron not only flew the Dr.1, he also shot down 19 aircraft over the course of three weeks, which is partly do to the great airplane, he flew. The list of Fokker Dr.1 aces, that had most of their kills in a Fokker Dr.1 is huge. The best example of that is the pilot Josef Jacobs who shot down 30 enemy airplanes in the Fokker Dr.1. I dont know why you irrationally hate the Fokker Dr.1, but get your facts straight.

    I believe I read in WW1 American Ace Edward Rickenbacker's auto biography....WW1 Ace was 10 kills. Until America entered the war an the number was reduced to 5 kills so Americans could get a share of Aces also.

    Having lived in Hawaii all my life, I must mildly protest that you didn’t mention that is was Hawaiian Steel Guitar playing that inspired the Frying Pan Lap Steel Guitar. In fact, the original name was the Rickenbacker Electro-Hawaiian Steel Guitar. Credit where credit’s due. The ukulele, steel guitar, and electric steel guitar are Hawaii’s biggest contributions to music. 😊🤙✌️

      @Onezy05 5 місяців тому

      @@LeandroCapstick Yeah, that's it. I think that's a better end date as: 1) It marks the end of the Greco-Roman rivalry with Persia that began during the 6th century BC. 2) It ends just before the Arab conquests, which led to the Mediterranean being split in two and caused the Christian economies to contract, upending the old status quo and properly beginning the Middle Ages.

    Tell the TRUTH about WWI pilots!!! They COULDN'T FLY everyday from the diarrhea the Caster Oil in the engine exhausts gave them! Every-other day was murder on your guts! Number one cause of death: Not the enemy, but MECHANICAL FAILURE. An ESTIMATED 65% of pilots and air crew (on both sides)!!! The Lafayette Escadrille lost 78% of their aircrews from mechanical failure, which enraged Americans. READ THEIR BOOK! Only ONE of the Original 32 pilots lived to be a US Aviator, and since he was BLACK he wasn't allowed! He joined the Armie de Air (French Air Force) and finished the war with 23 victories, and NEVER returned to the US. "The Black Angel of Death".

    These early tanks always have a creepy aesthetic to them compared to modern tanks. I think it’s their crude construction and the context that there was literally no other machine like them, even aircraft were over 10 years old by then so it creates something quite alien in nature.

    I might be retarded , but I see a use for extremely simple , 35:26 cheap semi disposable & organic ( environmentally friendly ) aircraft, that can operate from unprepared runways that can loiter for long periods of time behind the front lines to strafe dones & cruise missiles. Also with the potential to launch drones or other missiles. Simple & cheap , resistant against electric warfare , could even use electronic warfare weapons & if running on diesel could potentially even use a wireless ignition. Pilots could even bail out if targeted ( out sourced warnings ) ????
