This is a Dragon's Eye view of Dave Arneson's Blackmoor world setting. Blackmoor is the very first fantasy RPG game setting in history. Blackmoor Dungeon in 3D
Переглядів 2,7 тис.4 роки тому
Dave Arneson invented the dungeon delving concept. As such, his dungeon is the very first in history. Created in 1971 it had 10 levels, with sections of passages that went under the town of Blackmoor in the form of sewer tunnels. These are the solid black lines in the animation. It's difficult to explain how big dungeons can be, thus we created what may be the first 3D fly through of a D&D dung...

Watch the Movie Now! movie.secretsofblackmoor.com For film makers, the saddest times are when you have a beautifully told anecdote, but it's just too long to use in the film. With over 200 hours of footage that needed to get cut down to 2 hours of movie, this was a daily occurrence for us. Sometimes you can cut out a little bit here, and little bit there, and retain the flavor of what someone s...

How to Play Dungeon! with Ross Maker
Thank you for Posting this video of my Dad Duane Jenkins it means a lot to me I knew he liked Dungeon's and Dragon's I'm so touched that you remember Dad through all the times you knew him and Thank you so very much for your Prayers and Condolences It has been hard Since Dad Passed Away 8 years ago this month and that was very nice that you honored him with this video Thank you so much. ❤ Charlie Jenkins
Next year we will celebrate half a century of the game Dungeons. 🐉💌
And this is where it all started! 🐉 Thanks for the demo, Ross.
Legendary! Anyone using AI to write their games is a total sellout!
No dice in the first session! What a crazy time. I wish I could take a time machine and see how it was like.
Legend.
SO COOL! I love how the first campaign still had a sense of humor, such as "hobbit vampires." XD
“I cast Magic Missle!”
But what about the inclusion rules?? Lol
Thanks to Secrets of Blackmoor, and a brief snippet Mr. Hoyt told at Davecon this year, it seems our fascinating hobby might've turned out quite different without Duane Jenkins' fun creativity! I grew up in Newport, RI, so funnily enough, we had the Barnabus Collins board game in the early 70s... And, I was just lucky enough to realize Duane whistles the Dark Shadows theme in his Blackmoor docu clip.
Hobbit Vampires is going to be the next movie set to come out in the summer of 2026.
Been decades since I've heard Blackmore.
I think We're at 50 years of Dungeon (official release anyway). Why is THAT not being celebrated?!
Working on several fronts, some major, some minor. A minor item is adding a 50th Anniversary tag to places where Dungeon is preserved like Board Game Geek and Wiki pages. The major thing is a presentation at Gary Con next year of the history of Dungeon put on by Paul Stormberg, the proprietor of The Collector's Trove on EBAY. There might be something at Gen Con next year, but they are focused on D&D this year. Who knows? Thanks for your interest.
The KFC commercial before the video was so fitting
Missed this one 😢 Hope there will be another printing in the future!
Though it is true that none of these guys are as famous as say....Melf, some of their characters have surely made it into the game, right?
I really love watching these origin excerpts. Thank you!
Dave was awesome to game with and hang out with. I Met hin in the RIPSiG, Twincon era in the early 90s. He attended many of my game sessions, but I had no clue who the old guy was. When I found out,I fanboyed him until he told me that I should create my own game. I did in 92, and he approved "Ancient Steel " I ran off 100 copies at Kinkos, and sold them locally. He loved the rules system and said it was smooth. I sat on the game for years and did nothing with it until 2010. Today that system, is the core of My roleplaying games, by Roger Huntman.
I came into the game in 2007-2008. I love that these are available to watch as there's so much here for me to learn. The history I wasn't around for but still find fascinating
Really nice! Never saw that game before!
Wonderful stories that I could barely hear for the music…
What is the book that was handed to the gentleman?
Thanks for the video!
I will now insert superberries into my settings in honor of Pete. Rest in Peace 🙏
Aww man... the end of that video hit me in the feels. ;w;
Their description of playing is always what i imagined DnD to be.
For years I never realized that there were gonzo elements (like robotic horses) in older D&D (I started with Red Box Basic.) Then I learned that there were futuristic and alien bits present in Blackmoor and the modules that were inspired by it. My younger self wanted my genres separate. Years later, I find it both cool and hysterical. Proto D&D was super gonzo at times!
"Superberries," you say?🤔Interesting. It's great seeing that collaborative storytelling was not just some recent innovation. I would have liked to be a fly on the wall, observing these epic firsts. Or even better.. a player back in those days
My dad gave me his copy of Blackmore!
why play music during this? absolutely jarring
Such an awesome book
What was new was the roleplaying aspect. Those timelines of events were already a staple of miniatures campaigns.
Fantastic documentary and I really love what he shares concerning what "the book says".... He would just look at us and laugh! 👍🤓Awesome, and absolutely vital to truly Dungeonmastering. 👏
Just bought it. stoked for it.
All this is based on true events the moors were and is still here. They had no great dragons because they are over here in the Americas but they had wayverns
Love it that this history is being saved and recorded.
bloody magical !
The Video Description says Ross Maker worked on game ports such as Zaxxon. :) Does that include the 1984 DOS version? We used to play it as kids, one of the first games we ever had on our old PC! ua-cam.com/video/tpfU_Nh-y48/v-deo.html
Tolkein has a loooot to answer for. :D Imagine big JRR, the grand master, behind the Dungeon Master's panel, or designing some epic computer game setting. He would be next level. Heehee.
I love that the history of all this stuff is being gathered up with interviews... it's truly fascinating, inspiring and just plain FUN to hear about it all!
Excellent little interview. I'd not heard of Dungeon! I had a great time looking up about it, and seeing all the different versions of the game, the different board and card art, etc. Fantastic! I guess a game like Hero Quest seems like a different take on this again.
Love it.
I wish the history of D&D and TSR hadn't turned out to be a series of backstabbings
But you do get +4 bonus and double damage with backstabbing.
I think this is really clever! 💡⭐
We still play it to this day. Great game!
started in the year that lasted 2 years 1997
What an honor to see this video. Thank you!
Wow!
Ive come back to dungeon after a few years away from the dnd scene. I still love this board game. This is a great interview!
I backed the KS, but am not sure if it will contain materials worthy of the sixty-five dollars I pledged. Hopefully, they will ship soon.
