Ferrule Removal
Removing a stubborn headstock ferrule. Disclaimer: This works for me, if you try it it's at your own risk!

This worked like a charm on my PRS, which I was quite nervous about operating on. I stacked a few slightly oversized washers and a piece of shim stock... slowly tightened with a wrench and ou tit came. Thanks so much for this!
Glad to help!
I take a metal rod that is usually included with replacement tuners and put into the hole from the back and push the top of the rod with my palm until the thing pops out. It takes a lot of force but it isn’t too bad
Small flat head screwdriver with tape on tip put it in through the back and use a hammer to whack the screwdriver while you press against the ferrule from the back no problem
Are these vintage size Kluson holes? I cannot find a screw with a head the right size - they are all too small or two big. Any idea what size the screw/bolt you used was?
This is genius. You should make and market and "Ferrule Remover Tool" on this principle.
Thanks for this video - worked perfectly. Took all 6 bushings out in less than 5 minutes with no damage to the headstock finish. Instead of cork I just used styrofoam.
Good idea
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH A BRTAIN, THIS IS THE WAY I DO IT TOO. I SEE PEOPLE BANGING NAILS OR REAMING THEM OUT WITH A SCREW DRIVER, YIKES. GOOD STUFF.
