For sure, I started on me:2 and 3 I tried to play 1 but it felt to clunky after playing the other 2 so idk what her introductory role was but she's always been the best

@@UnluckyDreamerz I've started at 1 myself and honestly would have romanced her there if there was any chance. Her role, well... She's certainly moreso trying to make her way in the galaxy, compared to how she established herself by ME2. She's on her Pilgrimage, too. You learn a lot about the Quarian culture from her. It makes the way we find her in Mass Effect 2 all the more meaningful to me as her growth as a person seems directly influenced by her time on Normandy.

@@UnluckyDreamerz In short, after Saren screws up your test-run as a Spectre Candidate by having his (later revealed to be Heretic) Geth attack Eden Prime and sabotaging the Prothean Beacon, the Council refuses to take action against him because aside from testimony from "a single traumatized dockworker", you have no proof he was involved. Then once you start looking for options, you learn that a local bar owner and crimelord named Fist has betrayed the Shadow Broker to Saren (a dumb move, all told), and is in the process of selling out a Quarian looking to trade info to the Shadow Broker, over to Saren instead. We quickly realize WHY Saren would want this lone Quarian, and go rescue her. And that's how we meet Tali. Her info proves Saren betrayed the Council and organized the attack on Eden Prime, which in turn gets Shepard promoted to Spectre status and sent after him. We literally could not have done it without her.
