As a veteran of the 40k setting. Welcome! The universe is deep and there is something in this universe for everyone. The Space Marines are the poster boys for this franchise and this game shows why. Hopefully if you enjoy this you'll get into the lore and it will help you understand the significance of certain characters in this game and how badass they are. Either way welcome!!

Since you love firearms I'll let you in on a tidbit. Bolters shoot .75 /19.5mm mass reactive shells. They penetrate and detonate inside the target like a very small frag grenade. The recoil is so intense that if a normal human fired it it seriously injure them.

I just have to call out someone on the chat here, Sperian claims around 1:25:00 that "Sisters of Battle" are a "Female chapter". No, they are absolutely not. They do not go through the same procedures and nor are they even remotely the same. They are normal humans with little to no augmentations outside regular implants (occular, arms, legs). Space Marines have entirely different physiologies and psyches. Whereas MOST (but not all) Space Marine Chapters are not hailing The Emperor as a God or divine being and are mostly secular (with some exceptions as they have roles to play within the Imperium and act as his Angels, hence Angels of Death), the Sisters of Battle, Adepta Sororitas, are extremist female nuns. They have power armor and far superior gear to normal Imperium soldiers, but they are *nothing* compared to Space Marines. Like an infant against a Heavy Weight Champion boxer. Even geared. But they are ordinary humans. Space Marines are unique and they are few. Beaten only by Custodes within the Imperuym who are even more exceptional and vastly fewer still. The Rubicon Surgery is implantation of even more organs than the regular Space Marines have. There's a difference between First Born and Primaris, but steadily it is becoming less of a risk to make the surgery to become Primaris. It used to be a death sentence with extremely low chance of survival, but steadily increased and before long most First Born can become Primaris as well. On a financial standpoint it was just done to sell more figurines. Lorewise it was done to even out the score against other units appearing on the tabletop. Lorewise the Space Marines, including First Born, are insanely capable and of centuries of experience in some cases. Titus didn't get "remade" by putting his head on a new body. The scars are a result of basically flaying them and implanting a secondary skin underneath before layering the skin on top.
