Scimitar has a longer slimmer barrel on a cradle. The thicker shorter barrel with no cradle is the Scorpion (basically the only difference is the gun).

Agreed no tank is invulnerable from top end weapons of any nation but these are comparatively rare on the battlefield. A Challenger 2 in Iraq sustained 29 RPG hits for example. Just as weapons evolve so does armour. It is worth noting that the Ukrainians have added Kontact armour to the Challenger 2 to help.

I found it fascinating that they planned extended operations with the extra stores carried.

It's a fair comment. The loading was 5400 rounds carried internally but I suspect extra was carried outside on the roof (this extra stowage was the source of the fuel that leaked). I suspect this external ammo could be the real reason for the dismounting when they counted the bodies. The incident is quite well documented and nobody has called it into doubt at the time.

It's a lot simpler than it looks

Start by cutting the RVA foam into blocks and then build like a real building. Base coat, dry brush then add PVA soaked lichen.

Given physical copies of v1 material is expensive I can see the benefit of a new edition. They have tried hard to include extra info.

@@jameslangham9854 For me, it comes down to economics; money is tight and I just don't see $20 worth of return on investment. Especially when someone new can get everything printed for v.1 (rules, modules, supplements) for $35 direct from Far Future.

@@andrewdickinson1041 Possibly...but I think that with cheap PDFs being available and the target market being on the back half of life that already has the original materials, I would think that something original would be offered. Perhaps something coastal if they wanted to go boating?

To be honest not a lot that's significant, just that it's an update of the Pirates of the Vistula and asking is it time to put an eye patch on like a pirate.

Anything is possible but it fits the Lewis profile and has a Lewis sight (worth noting is was visiting with Neil Grant, the author of the Osprey in the Lewis who agreed that was what it was). My thoughts is that either it was a local modification with the lack of Bren Guns (a decent chance as witnessed by the Noel Coward song "Won't You Please Oblige Us With a Bren Gun") or something the museum added in error. I'm not convinced as the barrel has the stepped profile of the Lewis and the sight is definitely a Lewis AA sight rather than the small ring at the front of the Northover. I've not come across the Northover being fitted to vehicles (other than motorcycle sidecars) and would welcome any info on that as it's a weapon I plan a video on in the future. I would have thought the black powder smoke would have made it a nightmare inside (although I could see it used in the open turret versions of the Beaverette).

@@jameslangham9854 I didn't have a picture of the Northover to hand, but I believe that's what it is. I have seen some pictures of Northover's mounted on extemporised vehicles, invariably manned by the LDV/Home Guard in the aftermath of 1940. Usually they were meant to be dismounted to fire. My own father was 17 at the time, and I have a picture of him blowing up home-made gun-powder in July of 1940 in my gran's garden, in case Jerry got across the Channel. He and his brother detonated larger ones (as teenagers have always done) until a particularly one set the local sirens off. A collision with authority followed, and the magistrate let them off provided they ceased their experiments and joined up without delay, "*before someone gets hurt*" My uncle maintains that he "led astray by bad companions" and that the magistrate could not suppress a smile as he delivered the "before someone gets hurt" line!

I'm not saying it isn't but the barrel profile is clearly wrong with the muzzle end tapering. Makes sense with it as dismountable. Family stories are a great source of info.

It's certainly different, something used by the SS always strikes me as unlovable. Much as I love solid stocks instead of folding, I'm not sure the weight gain here justifies it. Also as I'm primarily used to pistol grips it's not ideal for me. I would like to get my hands on one though.

Very true but this was being considered with the 90mm gun of the M136 and M26 with HVAP ammo. Also given the rarity of the Tiger II this wasn't a huge problem.

It certainly met the design criteria for a mobilization only tank to be produced in vast numbers. I would regard it's biggest weakness as the autoloader not for the speed (improved on later models) but for the reduction in crew making field maintenance harder (especially in command vehicles where the commander gets called away to meetings).
