Ace, I heard some music on Swedish cop show a few weeks ago, knew I knew it, but could not place it, it's been so long. I was pretty sure it was Sibelius though so have been listening to various pieces off and on and here it is here The Swan of Tuonela.I am a happy, if tearful, girl now. I used to play this stuff all the time, but that stopped when I got married, my wife could not stand that 'old squit' as she put it. Country and western, not my thing at all but I had to put up with it. But she's been my ex now a good few years and I can do more or less as I like.

What is the painting for the Swan of Tuenola? It is superb.

with all the recenct "ugliness" regarding england today isn,t it an absolute marvel to wonder through an untouched part of it as if we were still growing up in this wonderful and green land that we cherish and love, this wonderful music not only takes me back to my childhood in wales where may I add had similar landscapes to these ,depicted in these lovely works of art all, a "marvel of nature" perfection and love , are the things depicted here ,taking me ,for one , back to a "childhood "of "freedom" family, and togetherness not always witnessed today,? I am from the "great Dylan Thomas,s country ," and appriciate this music emmensely, I thank you, did we really have the best of all this when we were born in the 1950,s? How I adore the first movement of this exceptional work. Sibelius at his finest which means of course music doesn’t get any better than this. Paavo Jarvi is a great Sibelius conductor without doubt and the playing of the Stockholm Philharmonic is magnificent. However I’ve yet to hear a performance that can surpass or quite match that of Ormandy/Philadelphia Orch from the late 1970’s.

This is my all-time favourite piece from Delius and I do like the serenade so much and great performance from Robert Tear with Sir John Barbirolli conducting the Halle Orchestra and definitely a great Delius showpiece for me.
