THORNAPPLE (쏜애플) Retrospective Part 1: I Often Stammer and Forget the Way to Sleep
Переглядів 221Місяць тому
After 5 months of me pushing this video back again and again, I've finally finished it, and for (semi) good reason. During the making of this video, I had my final exams, I made the transition into college, and overall my mental health wasn't exactly great, but now that everything's kind of calmed down, I found some time to finally finish editing this, so I won't say anything like "expect new u...

Finally back after 2 months of not posting, so hopefully this was enjoyable. It's definitely a lot different from the usual content, but anyone who knows me knows I hate sticking to the same thing, and I really do like to experiment with different types of content. Thanks for watching!
The Funnest Rock Album I've Ever Heard (Achime - Overcome)
Переглядів 23511 місяців тому
After a long wait, I'm finally back with another video. I've had this script done for nearly a whole month but never got around to actually making the video until now. Like, I literally recorded and edited this video in like 11 hours TODAY. Also, it's my birthday today; I just turned 17, so that kind of motivated me to get this out as a celebration. Either way, I've got an absolute monster of a...

No way. Finally, a video from Dorje that isn't a low-effort reaction video! insane, I know, but yeah, here is an actual video. Tell me what I can improve on in the future in the comments below, considering this is my first time actually reviewing music in a video. Thanks for watching!

An actual commentary video will be released soon, but for the time being, enjoy this or don't. Thanks for watching!
I can say that EASY EP imo was pretty basic, the only songs I really liked (PURELY on production not lyrism) was Good Bones (that I had high hopes for, I thought it was gonna be No Celestial 2.0 but sadly ended up being an intro), and SMART. Easy is overwhelming generic but not absolute shit I still play it from time to time and enjoy it, Swan Song is pretty boring, and We got so much is very forgettable I'm sorry. ALTHOUGH judging a whole groups image based on one EP is very dumb. I would say CRAZY EP was a big step up (thankfully), and the Fearless trilogy (From FEARLESS-ANTIFRAGILE-UNFORGIVEN) is still their peak so far and are great releases. Also go watch their trailers pretty great.
U hating lowkey
Does bringing Lesserafim content really give lot of views? would try if this actually works.
who the fk are you ?
Honestly I loved the song Though it was the best but not bad Also everyone has diff taste so But not creatively bankrupt Sorry
bro really woke up in the morning and then when he woke up he woke up and
@@j6s6n brooo they're like npcs i swear
Prolly the most uninspired, derivative & boring critique - ever!!! C'mon man - I f u wanna b the best troll on the internet - do better! I'm rooting 4 ya success!
is your life unhappy bro, get rid of your hatred towards idols, not everyone likes le sserafim including you bro, don't influence other people who just know le sserafim just because you hate them. only we the fans know their suffering because of haters like you, do you understand respect. this reminds me of bts when they were at the beginning of their career, they had a lot of haters who mocked them and even the industry too
i mean i thought the lyrics for made the song pretty boring, and Easy is the only song that I think didn't rely on their own vocals for. aside from that whether you think one EP seems uninspired i wouldn't say they are "creatively bankrupt" thats just disingenuous IMO
he should have done more research
bro woke up and decided to be wrong in a whole video that he decided to post
Most companies release kpop songs that are trendy because at the end of the day its all business but there are only a few kpop grps that self-produced their own music instead of the company A song doesn't have to have groundbreaking lyrics to be good or even great most of these songs are created are to be accompanied with a performance aspect to it hence why its called kpop At the end of the day most of the lyrics in lesserafim songs are based on their concept as a grp for example in easy the lyrics "pull up and i rip it like ballet" is a reference to one of the members kazuha being an ex ballerina that decided to pursue being an idol instead
bro rlly woke up and decided that he was gonna be wrong
I mean everbody got their own taste but i liked songs but not all but it was called easy for a reason in easy the lyrics "pull up and i rip it like ballet" is a reference to kazuha (member) being an ex ballerina that decided to pursue being an idol instead
Its called easy for a reason!
Easy was an amazing song stop being a hater
the ultimate incel bait
your social skills are bankrupt
Do u fw Nle Choppa❓ ❤
One of my favorite animes. Good video btw
This is the greatest retelling of The Big Lebowski. And Also Joker and Joker 2.
if you like thornapple you gotta try surl bro
Top 5 of all time
You know i had a question that came up after I rewatched this show. I wonder what Hayao Miyazaki would think of this show lol.Yes I know he hates most things but one thing he truly cares about is people. He said many times that anime nowadays is made by people who hate looking at other people. But I think NHK isn't like that, yeah there's fanservice but the characters are very human, they are flawed in many many ways. It doesn't just show sunshine and rainbows (except maybe the island arc which was a little too happy and resolved pretty neatly) but gets to the heart of what life is really like for many people. It doesn't shy away from showing characters making bad decisions, being impulsive. But all in all I don't think I wouldn't call any of the main characters bad people either. But then again i already know how he would feel lmao
cant you just google why ppl like it? i don't get this video
i respect u putting your thoughts out there tho 👍
hi!! i came here through a recommendation from a mutual of mine and i have to say oh my god i am very delighted and thankful for this video.... i discovered thornapple about a year ago and they have been one of my favorite bands ever since!!! this video just absolutely boosted my day as they seem to rarely garner the attention of music communities outside korea. if we're talking about i often stammer, it's actually my favorite album of theirs in the sense it's an album i hold very close to. while production-wise it pales in comparison to their later works, it has that raw and home-y quality that i really adore. and yes!!! gills is honestly one of their best songs ever!!!! ALL HAIL TO GILLS i'm so very excited for your next video on strange weather!! very curious though if you are planning to talk about other albums too like enlightenment (which, for me, is their most refined work up to date). but nevertheless thank you so much for this video! i had a great time watching and it really feels great knowing someone else does like and appreciate thornapple the same way as i do <3
hey, thanks for watching the video. i really appreciate it, and i'm glad you enjoyed the video. also, wow, someone actually listened to my outro and shared with whoever might be interested, but yeah, thornapple isn't very popular anywhere else really except korea, which is kind of annoying due to how amazing their music is. I guess in a way it's up to us who enjoy them to try and encourage others who aren't from korea to listen and appreciate their artistry; in other words, be an unpaid advertiser who shills them wherever you go. also fair enough, it's a great album; I can see how it's your favourite, and yeah, I'm going to be trying to cover every one of their releases from their first to latest.
I have been an avid fan of this band for a few years now. I can say this album is really the starter for anyone who wants to enjoy their music. It's a mandatory to listen to it even tho you don't have to like it. yoon's voice really is part of thornapple's instrumental too. if one day he left the band it would be no more thornapple. Anyway my favourite track from this album are Red Peter, Gills, Salamander, Cicadas Cry Even though It Rains.
hey, thanks for watching the video, man. cool to see more people who listen to thornapple; also, yeah, it's definitely a must listen, but I would say strange weather is a much better starter, imo. also, good picks; I'd honestly say the same here: gills is definitely my favourite on the album.
@@dorjealt Oh yeah I agree with the strange weather too. when I started to know them I kept listening to strange weather too. And this is really good video man. I'll patiently wait for strange weather video.
NO WAY ive waited so long for any english videos on thornapple :D thank u so so much
cant wait for strange weather ! keep up the good work !!
hey man, I really appreciate the support. also, yeah, as another fellow english-speaking fan of thornapple, it always annoyed me that there weren't any videos about them in english, so I decided to make one myself. i'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great vid, been waiting for another upload 🙏🙏
thanks for the support, man. it really makes my day knowing that you enjoy my content and look forward to more.
Absolute peak. Can’t wait for the strange weather vid
thanks, man, i really appreciate it. i'm currently in the scripting stage of the video, and it's about 40% done. also, I checked out some of your content as well, pretty dope stuff. keep up the good work! it's cool to see other fellow thornapple fans
stellar meetup in seoul to go to see thornapple live when?
soooooon👀
Kyuukei wa Amasugiru Kotoba is probably my favorite jazz piece ever, i might be biased because i heard it in this anime first, but ironically the song only plays for around 20-30 seconds in the last episodes where Sato is having dinner with Hitomi and later when he imagines himself in the love hotel with her. It's baffling to me how such a wonderful piece is just on the sidelines of a well known but niche anime and from an even more niche band like Pearl Brothers.
whats the name of the genre you said at 8:24? Akushi something? Great video btw
It's called Akishibu-kei, and I also appreciate the support!
I find myself rewatching welcome to the NHK every 5 years or so.. every time I discover new nuances that flew way over my head before
Round Table (feat Nino) hits so different.
What i like about this anime is how literally the only thing that changes is Satou gets a job, that’s it. He’s still mentally unwell, and that’s what i like because there is no Resolution really.
I mean thats kinda how real life works, doesnt it. I think in anime we are used to seeing the characters change completely and do a hard 180 degree turn in their lives from one episode to the next, when that's just not the case in real life, change happens gradually, slowly and it never gets easier. Even though the people around him wanted him to get better, Sato only got a job because he was literally starving to death, realizing the only one that can save him is himself. The resolution is that you just have to keep going, no matter what happens, you can't give up on yourself.
My top 3 Vinland Saga Welcome to the NHK Mushishi
Ah.. I see you are a man of culture as well 👏 👌
Welcome to the nhk is a heavenly masterpiece, i feel blessed to have experienced it as it aired
It was her step-father that was abusive
so ahead of his time
The parts that really hit hard were when Sato didn't react to other characters breaking down or even his lack of reaction to the suicide island bits. Failling to say something or take action due to overthinking or anxiety when it's absolutely neccessary was portrayed eerily accurate. NHK was special.
I don't think it's really abnormal for a piece of media that came out in 2006 to be focused on mental health
Thank you 🙏
I like Cartoons
Hi sorry if this is kinda late but I think you forgot to mention his Reload (2007) EP. I know it ended up being a part of redplug but I just thought it would add more context lel
Amazing video✨💙. I found that album on a list of Slowcore and Dream Pop Albums that are not very well known, in those, the first album I heard from that list was 빨간플러그 because it also came out the year I was born. I got a big surprise. This was my favorite album from June this year. Its melody, the ethereal vocals, and that fresh instrumental make me feel like I'm in a nice place where I'm with someone I love. Thank you very much for talking about MyHairBall and I hope that over the years more people know this wonderful album💙
lion on the shore is one of my favorite thornapple tracks of all time which is interesting because i remember sleeping on it in the beginning. its a really fun one. i love going back and rereading the lyrics. it rlly paints a story musically and lyrically. the part where hes like "ive bit the throat of god" is so sick, but also the softer verse where hes like "now i cant go counting moons or picking petals" (something like this) really plays into the kind of "acting mighty" nature of the character within the song. Super cool stuff, its great to see their music being talked about in english speaking spaces :) Also idiot as a top pick is incredibly based
24:09 WHILE YOURE FISHING LOL I get that
when u read the refuge lyrics LMAOOO
rym’s strongest soldier
i love watching nhk reviews!
