Curvy Vase Demo - Using Hand-building and Throwing and Altering Techniques
Hello and Welcome to my clay tutorial.
I’m making my curvy vase, but I’m doing it two ways. I make one vase with a slab, that I texture the body with rolling pin stamps. It’s a bit on the wet slab side and it makes a dramatic pot. There’s a few tips and tricks on working with a textured slab.
The other technique starts with a wheel thrown cylinder that gets altered. Goes for a simple yet elegant finished pot.
Both vases use the dress making technique of cutting out darts to change the shape of your piece into something new.
If you need a demo on handles, check out this video:

If you need a demo on wheel throwing, check out this video:

Good luck. Get creative!

Let’s Get Trimmed - Pottery Trimming Tutorial
In this video I tried to show different ways to treat the same shapes, cylinder and bulbous. Two simple shapes with 8 different solutions. I think this is a great place to start after you have acquired some basic skills in trimming. Keep in mind that when you are trimming, your not just shaping a pot, you are giving it personality. Tip: Grab a leather hard pot, secure it to the wheel and experi...
Let’s Get a Handle on This - Pottery Handle Tutorial

Pottery 101 - Trimming a Bowl
Another video in my Pottery 101 Series. I know that when you’re in class and watching a trimming demonstration, it doesn’t matter how hard you concentrate, you will miss something. I really tried to break down the thought process behind trimming to help you understand what to do. I also tried to be focused and concise, but yet, it’s almost 15 minutes. I hope that you will throw 4 (somewhat) ide...
Pottery 101 - Wheel Throwing for Beginners
I tried to make the most informative and concise video to help you learn to throw. I spent a lot of time on centering, cause it’s the most important thing when learning. I labeled each section with title cards to make it easier to rewind and watch again. I’ve got two camera angles going on and still photos to help you see and understand what’s going on. I do believe that watching videos in betw...

How to Wedge Clay
A quick demo to help you learn to properly wedge clay. The last thing you want is poorly mixed clay and/or air bubbles. Watch and learn and then get at it. Cause good wedging happens when you focus and just do it. Good luck.

    • @franav476
      @franav476 Рік тому

Well, what can I tell you, I asked to dispel doubts, in Spanish we say "pasta" to the mixture of clays and with respect to "cooking" I can't find a way to justify it (although it seems normal to me, I usually use that word, I'm also a potter, and I've been practicing for two years. Although a year ago I didn't have the experience I have now), I understand the paranoia, mate. If you think I missed a message between the lines, I apologize. I don't know how it got away from me, if I practice mindfulness LOL
