It’s PS1. I will probably put PS3 in it eventually. The bell is great but no crew talk and the whistle is pretty disappointing.

It’s a PS2. It’s a 5v so I keep a good eye on it. Don’t want to upgrade it just yet.

Here’s a fun fact! I buy as many two rail cars as I can and I convert them to three rail and throw the trucks and Kadee couplers in the trash so guys like you can’t have them. Thanks for watching!

@@Chris-c5d they are mostly K-line. There rest are Weavers. The K-line are really nice. Sprung trucks, diecast couplers, interior details.

@@Bobdole4373 that’s strange. I’ve never had a problem with them. I run them an a ZW and on an MTH Z-4000 without issues. Sorry your Locomotive got messed up. Have you checked Trainz.com for a replacement soundboard?

@@Tauraco00 nice! My uncles have a 55. They’ve had it since high school. When I was a kid it had flames on it and a cobra jet engine. Now it’s been completely restored to stock.

@ that’s awesome. My car building days are over due to back injuries. I do a little bit of the work on my CTS but anything big I ship it. Sucks to be a mechanic for 30 years and have to pay people to do repairs.

@@LocalCharlotteTrainSpotter what set is it? Do you have the Lionel number off of the box? I bought this engine by itself. No set box. I bet there may be a minimum curve. What curves are you running?

@NSModelRailRoading I'm using rails from a Santa Fe train set and I bought the Norfolk Southern off the box too, I pretty much think I need rails that support the problem.

@ minimum curve for the NS Locomotive is O-31. If you have 0-27 it’s not going to work.

Messing with those tips makes me nervous. First one I ever touched snapped off. Not very good steel that’s for sure.

I’m willing to bet they will be in the next catalog. I’m also waiting for the domes for the Lionel Lines passenger set. There’s no official word as of yet. I’m just guessing. If you look at my latest shorts, you will see how it will look. Just imagine it with the Texas special paint scheme.

@ well it would be cool to have. I hope the retry the B unit. It was in a catalog in the last few years but they must not have gotten enough preorders. It was cancelled is what I can put together of it.

@@NSModelRailRoadingI was not aware of that. If they do come out with a diesel ABA units for the Lionel lines, I would definitely have to get them to complete my set. Passenger trains are definitely my favorite.

@@RABSTRAINS it is! I love everything about it other than the cars. Very poorly made. Screws are one time use and the wiring for the lights is garbage. The engines are great. I run that one on a grade nonstop.

@ this is good to know. Are you going to rewire the cars? I get very tired and frustrated with poor quality items in general. I sure wish in todays world, we could purchase model trains at a reasonable price that actually were built solid!

@ I am now that I have some smaller gauge wire. I usually just have 16 gauge laying around. I’m not the best at soldering though lol

@ it’s a learned art for sure. I am not that great as well. Amazon has the set now at a discount and I get an employee discount as well. I could get the set for 404.00 total with shipping. I don’t know if that’s a good deal, but I want other train items first. I need to get a few more cars for my Santa Fe passenger train.

@ I’d honestly buy it used. If it’s derailed more than once it will have all of those wires broken and you might pick it up really cheap. The add on cars run about $70 each and that new non powered unit is $179 but you’d better grab that fast unless someone ordered a bunch of extra stock and not just the preorders plus a few extra. The engines aren’t much smaller than scale. I’ve thought of buying some nicer scale cars to pull with it.

@@3-Rail-Tales-Dad the direction I run most engines the rise is 11 inches in 130 inches of track. It was initially supposed to be a 4.4% grade but I modified the height of the upper level a bit. Coming down is currently much steeper as I didn’t have room for 130 inches of track on that end. I’ll be building two more tables so I can bring it down a bit slower. My Shay will run up it either direction no problem.

@ I don’t know how you feel about AI but my girlfriend asked me to tell her what I was trying to do and to be very specific. I told her and she hands me a list of support measurements from start to finish on both ends. Would have took me forever to come up with it.

It’s definitely a busy layout. He said that nowhere on the layout is there an empty spot big enough to lay an index card down. He’s got piles of antique trains and scenery.
