I don't know why these has remained a HIDDEN gem of Vaughan Williams -- perhaps the subject matter bothers those who are not believers. Still, it is a stunning composition -- one of his very best. It should be hidden no longer.

Is it so - or maybe not - that this "Konzert für Cembalo und Streichorchester, Op. 14" have 3 or 4 moments? It seems as if 3 & 4 are often performed as 1 - but the recording of this wonderful music with Martin Haselböck and Orchester Wiener Akademie clearly have 4. Is there any other recording with "all" moments on the same CD - except the one mentioned above? This is an important concert and should be recorded with "all" moments available! And also a "Complete Recording" of all Distlers work! He life was too short - so I think our time with all it's technical facilities should let him be heard in all his splendor! So please record!

DFD's artistry and commitment notwithstanding, it would be really nice one day to hear this song (and the other eight in the "Nine English Songs") sung by a soprano or mezzo-soprano, as Hindemith intended.

underrated composer, this is amazing.

An old fave of mine Karl Birger Blomdahl doesn't get enough love period .

The III. part (Allegro spirituoso e scherzando) is missing from this album.

Very well done music from a much underrated film from a better day

I like it. It almost has a Gaspard de la Nuit feel to it. But mote modern of course. A very finger twisting virtuoso piece. Played wonderful. ! Great sound. Yes ,this is real , real good.

Beautiful music by a Czech composer who was born in the tower of the church in Polička. I knew Maestro Josef Suk, who plays the viola solo, personally. Grandson of the Czech composer Josef Suk. And the amazing painting of Jan Zrzavý... A very luxurious gift.

It's strange. I don't know why I find this piece fascinating. Yet I like it a lot.💖

A top-drawer piece. Along with the Colour Symphony, head shoulders above much Bliss. I think he needed extra-musical inspiration to write at full strength. That why his ballet and film music is so memorable. But check out the late Cello Concerto - very fine.

Eine Revolutionsoper voller Wiedersprüche in der Zeit des Abwendens des Volks von seiner Regierung, die das Land wenige Monate später implodieren ließ. Mattus war Dich am Puls der Zeit. Die Musik entspricht dem Genre, in bestem Sinne.
