Tim: Student, Human, Mental Health Advocate
Canada
Приєднався 5 лис 2020
👋 Hey friends!
Tim here, mental health advocate and social work student (who returned to school later in life).
Mental health around the world, but particularly here in Canada, is awful. I'm here to chat about it: how can we fix it? What can be done? Along the way I'll also share about going back to school in my 30's, tips for students, college and university, and all things mental health.

Movies That Wouldn't Exist If the Main Character Went to Therapy
It is WILD how many movies wouldn't exist if the main character(s) had gone to therapy. In this movie, I break down some and why! Movies include:
-Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
-Deadpool and Wolverine
-Fight Club
-Catch Me If You Can
-Every Batman movie, ever (in the video we explore the one reason why)
-Lucky Number Slevin
-The Prestige
-The Sherlock Holmes
-The Blind Side
-The Holdovers
Comment and let me know what other movies wouldn't exist if the main character went to therapy!

Great Content! You need more views. I am commenting to help boost the algorithm toward your channel to gain visibility. I am planning on enrolling to AU. I am thirty-two and have not slept yet.
Nice overview of rec therapy which I think is a good major for undergrads interested in allied health fields.
I do this and they return the sentiment. That's why we have been friends for decades because we know what we mean to each other.
I tried that once and got a restraining order...
Is it possible to obtain a psychologist licence after AU psychology degree?
@@Rievserg not with just the degree. You'll have to go on to a masters: Athabasca does have a masters of counselling which can qualify people to practice as psychotherapists (and this program is extremely competitive) but the licensing for a psychologist is longer and not offered at Athabasca.
That's actually an incredibly good point
It’s also great for doing group projects because you can prove who doesn’t and doesn’t do the work. I saw one guy get cut out of a project because he didn’t do anything and when the lecturer asked for evidence they could show him the edit logs
Finishing my bachelor degree at Concordia University..... already so burned out ... thinking about something online for masters... Concordia is energy drainer for psychology students))
Thanks for posting this, Tim!
Its crazy that you have to even make this a video, i get people need motivation but my gosh everyone is just so ready to kick up a fuss say its not fair and quit. Noone has strong willed spirits anymore Who said you have to trudge theough the 100 year march, you can dance if you want too.
I found out about RT the same way you did and I feel in love with this idea of fun and joy to heal people. I wanna work with pediatric patients
Great tips. Thanks for sharing ❤❤
maybe use a timestamp for every tip
Thank you so much for this video. I just applied for a masters in counselling. I have a master’s degree from UBC but in music performance. I’m wondering if you know if they will accept me into a master’s in counselling without prior studies in counselling? Another thing to note is that my Master’s degree was completed in 2000. Thank you
If someons speaking to you that way, id imagine its because theyd rather not speak to you at all. When this happens to me, i leave and find someone more fun to talk to. Pushing the fact that youre offended on someone in the real world, at best makes you a pain in the ass to be around and at worst embarrasses yourself, your friends and you look weak... all downsides. Just walk away and hang out with other people 😊
Interesting content. Thx for the upload
Hey Tim, thanks so much for making these videos theyre so in depth and incredibly helpful. Im 34 and thinking about getting a business degree. Cheers from Alberta.
Thank you so much! Super helpful. I’m looking at taking the same degree as you :)
Hey bro you arr so jolly i hope i become 1 like u again... Im so getting worse day by day after my long solo trip to SE Asia for 3 months and 5 countries.... I just dont feel like doing anything at all
I received from GBRB
video was super helpful as i start the program in 2025 at doon campus
loved this video!!!
This is a great review and I like your recomendation on how to read it! I've been considering reading this for a while since i want to know more about epigenetics, but at the same time I've heard reviews saying it just says to forgive your parents, which isn't always realistic or waranted. Agreed that part three sounds like a rehash of long-standing coping skills. I'll give it a whirl regardless. Thank you!
Kudos
Good job.😊
Hi Tim, I have a question.. I live in Vancouver, canada and I am planning to set up a marketing agency for real estate agents in both U.S & Canada as this is a niche I am personally interested in and something I can see myself working long hours in. As of September 2024, do you think this is a good niche to get into? Since 2016, I am hearing that USA is on the brink of the worst recession ever but as we all know it hasn’t happened. So I am wondering if opening a marketing agency for realtors is a good idea right now. I would really appreciate your advice, thanks!
Also, can you help with video on Family Housing Accommodation....as I intend to stay in one....what's the difference between school accommodation and off campus accommodation..I'm from 🇳🇬 Nigeria
Hello Tim.....Thanks for your video...as I m your new subscriber and been following your videos since 2 months I started my research on UG....I'm looking forward to be there next year May.
If monkey pox had a face
thank you :3
Thank you so much for yours time🙏🏽 ✨I have plan to move forward with Rec Therapy and this video cheered me up a bit more.
This is very helpful, Tim - I just started my MSW - thanks!
You’re saving my life!! Lol thank you ! Moving to university has been one of the biggest changes of my life. Especially since I’m out of state going to the University of Central Florida, and it has one of the largest campuses in the US, which makes it slightly overwhelming. I’ve been navigating, I’ve used some of your tips already before diving into your video, so it was nice to know that some of it i’ve already figured out for myself. Again, thank you !
There is course tab, where links to text book, notes and also there is digital reading room with external references links. I am confused how to figure out which is important. And also do i have to go through whole book with each details.
In theory, every one of those is important. Under the course tab, unit by unit and section by section the course will outline what to read or do, as well as additional resources or recommendations (like digital reading room). It's unlikely you'll have to go through the whole book, but know that at Athabasca the courses are textbook heavy and largely rely on you reading and learning a lot of it yourself. Good luck!
@@timcampbellsms okay thank you I will check about it.

Works for older adults in a new job also, Thank you!!!
Thank you so muxh for this video. Just today, I had gotten extremely frustrated from the first two weeks of trying to make friends in college, and decided to "give up" and be antisocial. This was the nudge i needed to get back on the right path.
Thanks! :D
For those of you wondering about student funding, I was approved by StudentAid BC if people are nervous about attending from BC
Im graduated from school and im not in university but your energy is just so contagious! Keep doing what youre doing!
oh gosh thank you!
Starting with the antisocial behaviors was a good idea. I never considered the aspect of taking the same route every time you go somewhere.
100
Helpful video thanks!!! I’m a second year and needed to hear a few of the tips to make better impressions this time around
This was on my recommended page. Surprisingly great video for the viewcount! Keep at it!
thank you so much i start uk college (not uni yet) next month, and as someone that struggled throughout secondary (high) school to make lots of friends partly due to my autism it’s great to have this advice :)
College is a scam. Do yourself a favor and avoid it like the plague.
great video on job/career options with your degree. Back in my day in the 90s no one brought up such things. It was, go to college, pick a degree, get a job. They never really spoke on options one has and routes to them, and challenges if you get a degree such as Art History but don't plan to be a professional art historian. I remember in one psychology class a professor said that the odds were everyone in the class would change careers more than once in their lives, and likely 4 times---not just job but careers. That blew my mind but also was true!
LinkedIn automatically added the student title to my profile when it figured out I haven't finished college, great advice :)
