How are you NOT scared of the cars? I have a bike but I ride on the sidewalk. I want to ride on the streets but I'm really really scared of getting hit by cars...and I hate cars that honk at bike riders because they are lazy to move around them. What's your thoughts and any suggestions to ride on the streets? God bless.

These trains were originally supposed to be driverless like the same ones in Vancouver but pressure from the union prompted these cars to be manually driven so I heard. Personally I like the ones in Vancouver better than the ones in Toronto. The ones in Vancouver seem like they haven't aged a bit as opposed to Toronto's where it's very evident how much they've changed. Sucks to see them go, I'll never forget that sweet sound they made when they leave the station. If I'm not mistaken these UTDC Mk1s will be TTC's 2nd set of trains to have a 38-year service record (March 30, 1985-November 19, 2023) since TTC's former Hawker-Siddeley Canada's H-4 trains (1974??-Jan 2012). No chance one of these cars will be converted to work cars & kept at Davisville, Greenwood or Wilson due to their distinct design. I'd bet the 1st 2 units would be spared from scrap & brought to be preserved at Halton County Radial Railway or maybe a die-hard railfan will buy one & keep it in a field

Ah man, I was on vacation in Toronto earlier this month, if only I knew they were doing Doors Open event I would've taken my vacation earlier. At least I got to ride the RT for the first and the last time in my life.

The TTC has conformed that the Scarborough RT will permanently close on November 19th 2023 after 38 years of service.

Man, sucks I wasn't able to attend this historical moment but glad you were able to! Thanks for sharing this video and giving everyone a chance to see what's there!

Thanks for posting this video! What a trip back in time. I bought one of these SLV-676UC VCR's back in the fall of 1990, I think at Silo (electronics store) in Encinitas, CA for what I believe was $649. If I remember correctly, the remote control also had a jog shuttle on it. You can also see in your video that each L & R input had dedicated input levels. I actually have video tape footage from 1990 of my entire Sony audio/video system. Again, thanks for posting this video. That VCR was so awesome.

Nice ride! kind of miss how empty streets were during shut down. Some of those thin painted bike lanes on Birchmount look really scary. only about 4ft wide and without any indication it is a bike lane. I drive from Markham to Scarborough everyday and wondering what are those for. They look very narrow for bikes and I always see cars drive cross the line. If drivers must keep at least a one metre distance when passing bikes, they should make bike lane at least 1.5m. Why can we always have the same protected bike lanes as in downtown Markham.
