Actually water bottle can be safer because some hamster owners don't use the right size and may drown their hamsters. It may also be trickier to use because beddings may get in it. I personally use a water bowl because it's a more natural way to drink water and you get can a water bowl really cheaply(check ikea's tea light holders out), it's also silent. I would suggest to have both if you can afford to so that when one doesn't work, for example, if the water bottle got stuck and water doesn't come out, the hamster still has the water bowl to use, that way you can also find out your hamster's preference.
