Salvation is not of ourselves Ephesians 2:8, receiving the gift of eternal life is a one time event, when one believes on the Lord Jesus Christ. It is not a life long thing or something we must uphold. That would mean salvation is of works and that it is of ourselves, and would ultimately mean we are the Authors and finishers of our faith instead of Jesus. This is a doctrine that is taught by most denominations that have decided to walk the broad path of trusting in themselves to get to heaven instead of wholly placing there trust in the finished work of the Christ.
