ESA and NASA satellites deliver first joint picture of Greenland Ice Sheet melting
Story published by @EuropeanSpaceAgency
Global warming is driving the rapid melting of the Greenland Ice Sheet, contributing to global sea level rise and disrupting weather patterns worldwide. Because of this, precise measurements of its changing shape are of critical importance for adapting to climate change.
Now, scientists from the UK Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling have delivered the first measurements of the Greenland Ice Sheet’s changing shape using data from ESA’s CryoSat and NASA’s ICESat-2 ice missions.

CPOM Iceland Fieldwork Adventure
Переглядів 32Місяць тому
CPOM PhD Researchers and staff visited Iceland to complete fieldwork experiments on pro-glacial lakes in September 2024. This video captures some of the work that took place on that trip and gives some context on the science behind it.

We have been talking to CPOM's PI for Sea Ice Earth Observation, Dr. Rosemary Willatt (Northumbria University) about how she first became interested in observing the #cryosphere from #space. There are many routes into #polarscience from maths to geography and physics. If you're interested in finding more about polar observation and modelling visit our website via the link in our bio. #CPOMOrigi...

Variations in Antarctic glacial retreat
Very informative. Thanks
Came across IMBIE in the last article from Karina Von Schuckman, would like more info & videos from you.
why are there zero videos from the space station of Antarctica?
Hi there, do you have a contact number/email for an inquiry about using this footage in a video about climate change? I am looking for 'rain on snow' events and your video is one of the very few that exists showing rain in the high arctic. Best wishes.
Today’s a new day isn’t it
Would have been nice to have more pictures and less written. Very poorly done video.
Thanks you very much for sharing! Very interesting to see what you do guys!
nice to see this channel, thank you! this is unfortunately my an impossible dream. could you share where your results will appear?
The ice shelves will soon be gone - all of them. If you study the historic documents, written in over a dozen languages from all across our Earth, you'll see the true timeline for the ice shelves and glaciers, you'll see the true timeline for all the major cataclysms, you'll see the timeline for the broken and subducted tectonic plates, the timeline for the ocean trenches, the timeline for the cataclysms known as Eltanin, Nuuanu, the Siberian and Deccan Traps, the forces that formed the Grand Canyon, the timeline for Yellowstone, Santorini, etc. You're free to believe " millions of years ago " or you can study the reports in the captain's logs from the sailing ships going back hundreds of years. You can believe " chemical analysis proves " or you can study the maps of the sonar images of the trajectory of the landslides debris, then line it up with changes in the coastlines. You can believe " scientists say " ... " theories suggest " or you can translate historic documents from over a dozen languages and see the timeline for our mountains, continents, oceans, etc. If you cling to the lie that our mountains are millions of years old, you will overlook the elevations of the ~100 volcanic mountains that have emerged from the sea over the past 100 years, you'll overlook the elevations of Krakatoa, you'll overlook the historical evidence for the elevations of the Antarctic Mountains, the Andes, Rockies, Aleutians, Alps, the Himalayas, etc. You're free to believe in theories or you can study the thousands of independent sources from all across our Earth that corroborate a much shorter timeline for our mountains, continents, oceans, etc. If you don't know where the ocean water came from, then you will overlook the fact that if our oceans are salty because of rainwater eroding salts from rocks that then flow into the rivers, you'd have to admit that rivers are not salty. The evidence is voluminous but if fake social status and a paycheck is preferable - rather than the truth which will probably get you fired from your job, then forget I mentioned it and go back to what you were doing - which means you will cheat yourself out of knowing the true history of our Earth. When you realize all the cataclysms were shockingly recent, when you realize North America was never covered by a giant glacier but by shallow sea water - and was pulverized with colossal tsunami waves and the explosion of thousands of volcanic eruptions - all in under 24 hours - which resulted in the American, Antarctic and Polynesian edges of the Pacific Ring of Fire - when you realize this decimation is recorded in different languages by people more than 16,000 km apart, when you realize those colossal tsunami waves raced from Antarctica up into the Pacific, into the Arctic and over to Greenland and the North Atlantic in under 24 hours, decimating continents and islands as they went, you may become more willing to realize another cataclysm is coming and that few people will survive. Since the biblical timeline of 6,000 years is a fraud - as is the geological timeline of millions and billions of years, along with the timeline of hundreds of thousands of years from ice cores, the historical timeline of thousands of years, the timeline for Egyptology, etc., and since the true timeline for our Earth's history is documented by thousands of independent sources which includes the true timeline for our human history, to see the thousands of corroborating sources, you will need to be willing to acknowledge the numerous contradictions in the fake timelines - few glaciologists would be willing to do that.
@32 seconds - the meltdown of the blue regions in the SE of the Ross Ice Shelf is the result of volcanoes rising up which exploded in 2016 - the heat melted the surface of the West Antarctic ice shelves into 8,000 lakes - and thousands of rivers - which included the Texas-sized lake across the Ross Ice Shelf.
Glaciologists admit glacial melt has been increasing exponentially - much faster then their previous forecasts which means more contribution to sea level rise while marine scientists admit our oceans are also warming much faster than their forecasts which means more thermal expansion and more contribution to sea level rise - so why has sea level rise been minimal, why are oceans warming if massive volumes of glacial melt is flowing in and why is the sea water in Drake Passage shockingly calm when the increase flow from the glacial melt would increase the turbulence? Ocean waters have been warming because of an exponential increase in heat rising up from seafloor volcanoes. This video explains why sea level rise has been minimal: ua-cam.com/video/6HUC79ayJAM/v-deo.html If increasing volumes of glacial melt are not flowing through Drake Passage - as the data and direction of ocean currents suggest, the question is why? If increasing numbers of seafloor volcanoes are erupting, the question is why?
I wish i go there someday 🌝
