Reckon x Texas Tribune present Spring Awakening: How climate catastrophe affect living costs
Join Reckon’s climate reporter, Christopher Harress, along with Texas Tribune energy reporter Emily Foxhall, freelance climate and environment reporter Maya Richard-Craven and more in an important discussion moderated by Texas Tribune editor Dave Harmon as they discuss their work and what the possibilities for change can look like for those directly impacted by the earth’s warming.
“People think of climate coverage primarily as what’s going on in the atmosphere. As climate journalists, we understand that our beat touches on every other beat in the newsroom. Climate stories are also about business, politics, health, family, equity and justice,” said Reckon’s editor-in-chief, R.L. Nave. “I hope this conversation will highlight how people are adapting to a world that’s getting hotter every day and the urgency with which we need to respond to climate crises.”

My grandmother was peonage, I found records stating she owes over 4,000 days. My mother and grandmother was transported from Brazil to America. The owner (my grandfather) sexually abused my mother too. He died in November of 1971 in New Bedford, Mass. My grandmother ended up in Brazil because her mother was transported from Africa. My grandmother was Bantu and Mayan my grandfather was Azorean. I carry his last name. I suffer from learned behavior making me vulnerable to be a victim. There is no help for the burden of generational trauma that I carry.

Did you know about; Loving v. Virginia? It was a critical Supreme Court case in 1967 in which an interracial couple sought to challenge the Virginia law prohibiting interracial marriage. Richard Loving, a white man, and Mildred Jeter, an African American woman, were married in the District of Columbia in 1958, where interracial marriage was legal. 👇🏾

You ended the video by asking how you never heard about slavery lasting into the 1950's.... and then were surprised one of the perpetrators lived to the 90's. But consider some of the "Deep South" and Indiana also have beatings as punishment in public schools, yet somehow most of the rest of the country is unaware of this... There's a lot of things like this people are unaware of.

Well don’t commit crime and you won’t be chased by a police dog. I’ve watched plenty of police videos where dogs were used and in most cases the perps are white not black. Americans have a psychosis about racism. Everything is about racism. It must be exhausting to look for it at every turn. I’m so glad I don’t live there. It’s toxic.

Slavery exists today. If your not aware....wake up. We are all debt slaves pledged to the federal reserve as collateral to pay back loan and interest on the loans from the fed. Usa corporation buys $ feom thr fed with interest instead of printing their own currency as legal by congress. Its a huge scheme most never realize
