@@solarecl5671 it's 100% a game mechanic, you are supposed to be in a hiding spot when you hear the elevator ring and you must stay hidden until you hear the elevator ring again, if you dont, you die like you did

Ronald was already working in shady business. Clint however is a investigative reporter who is investigating the deep web without any bad thought. Clint would have declined since he hates shady business, escpecially if you remember when clint told Ronald, that he thinks his work is shady.
