Looks very good man
sweet set up there. love the overhead cabinets. nice backdrop! good luck with the layout :)
How are you? Where's the dogs life jacket😮
Stay safe 🕯🕯🕯
Take care love! Keep Casy on a leash!
Stay safe 💜
Good luck.
Awesome realism
You put me to shame! You’ve accomplished a lot despite two kids and an often demanding and time consuming occupation. The only thing I ever accomplished was a bare wood skeleton of an L girder oval during the years I was working. Good on you! Love you’re developing another generation of model railroaders.
Wow! nice layout! Going to look awesome when finished, I'm going to follow your build, will give me some ideas on my N scale build I am doing. I bought the Woodland Scenic Ridge kit but I am modifying it so it does not look anything like the Ridge layout. (wasted my money).
New to the channel Dr K…nice layout your building…good looking rock work
Thank you very much! Welcome to the channel!
Nice update 🛤️🚂🎥👍👍👍. Greetings Gert
Thanks!
What curve radius did you use for the flowing S curves?
It’s a mix of different Kato double track super elevated curves. Some are a bit wider than others and I mixed and matched sections as well as easements.
I was hoping you could be a bit more specific. I’ve not seen anything this nice with the super elevated track. The old adage “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” would be appropriate here.@@Dr.K_N.Scaler
@@grumpy1814 I’ll try to get you all the info in an update video! 👍🏻👍🏻
Regarding industries, when thinking about what industries would be good for my layout, I ask myself: 1- what is going to be delivered to the industry? and where is it coming from (another industry/facility on my layout or coming onto layout from an interchange track)? 2- what will they ship out? and is it headed to another industry or facility or my layout is it leaving the layout via an interchange track? Example: if i have a bakery, it won't be realistic for the flour, sugar, packaging materials, etc. to ALL come from my other industries. Some or all should be coming from other railroad via interchange track. And vice versa for the products they make. A variation is that you dont know whats in every car related to every industry. You just know the ABC Manufacturing gets one chemical tank car & 1 enclosed hopper weekly and they send out 2 box cars weekly of finished product. Still very fun to switch them! I hope this helps with your planning. And remember its your railroad so everything diesnt need to be "prototypical".
That comment was extremely helpful in my planning process! I think a lumber facility could be cool and may be able to incorporate my mill structure as well somewhere else on the layout. I agree completely with some products coming from / going to interchanges / off the layout.
This is looking great! Like the rock work a lot. Water areas should be "cool" 😊
Love it. Is that EZ track or Uni Track?
Thanks!! I’m using Kato Unitrack throughout.
Nice. I love your layout @@Dr.K_N.Scaler
I don't think I'll ever stop loving that rock work, they just look soooo good
Glad I did that brown wash as you suggested!!!!
great plans and nice work! set up looks pro, great lighting :)
Thank you so much!!!
So wicked!
Thanks!!
Looking good. Those Woodland Scenics Incline/Declines are great. We also have some of their 2% on our layout.
Yeah they work great! Really takes the guesswork out of it! I'll check out your channel ASAP!
Back drops look fine from my view. My layout is crying for back drops, can't even paint clouds. None of my artist friends are stepping up to help me.
Thanks Tom! You might need a printed one haha!
Why did you put the windows in first? After thought?
I wanted to do the mortar once the walls were together so it matched and covered up any seems and it is very hard to install windows once the walls are squared up.
Reminds me of Mike Fifer's old garage layout room in his garage. You may take a look at his older video's. He actually petitioned off part of his garage and made the layout room enclosed. It may save on some of the FLORIDA DUST . Happy modeling !!
Thanks Ron! I remember that layout of Mike’s. Thankfully our garage isn’t too dusty!
Hey man, great to see you back up and running! Looking forward to seeing the new layout evolve!
You and me both! Hope you’re doing well!!
Looking forward to the new mainline running!
Same! Have some new engines I need to run! 😂
wow this was a shocker. I didn't realize you ripped the old stuff up. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Yeah, the old layout was on casters which was causing a lot of leveling issues due to the sloped garage floor if I moved it at all away from its main spot.
@@Dr.K_N.Scaler Exactly why I didn't go with casters on my layout.
@@nscaler454 makes sense to me now! If I had a perfectly level floor (I don’t think those exist) it’d be great. My garage has a huge slope so not a good situation for running reliably. New layout will be rock solid and bench work is super level.
Wondering where you have been. Looks like you getting started on a new project. Thanks for sharing. 😎😎. 👍
Thanks bud! Yep I was away for quite some time from the channel, but this layout should be fun!
Smashing it! Cant wait to see that yard 😉
That may be your project next time you visit! 🤣🤣🤣
Hey, I'm new to the channel and noticed someone referred to you as Doc, also my name, I also noticed that you had some buildings on there that you said were 3D printed, the taller ones that are still Gray.. I just wanted to let you know that those are actually by a company from China called Outland Models, they're sold brand new for around 10 to $15 a piece and I've been using them for a year or so for kit-bashing... They are super cheap, some have some decent detail and some are just basic plain facade boxes lol. But if you ever want to look at their entire line they have a lot of really great stuff for kit-bashing. Love the layout tho and sorry to hear about the club downsizing.
Cool layout. Look forward to following the updates. Just discovered the channel and really don't know how youtube has never Sent me one of your videos
🇧🇷🚂 Very, very nice layout! Congratulation!
the mountains are superb!
I am coming over from Instagram and was glad you talked about the reaching the back of the layout.I have been trying to find your measurements . Was thinking 4' deep ! Just a little to deep for my layout but I really do like the rolling layout idea. Great points on your yard also. Just stopping by to say we are neighbors !! I live in Polk Co. Florida myself. Love your content!! We follow a lot of the same modelers !!
Awesome work. What is the truck model in the grain elevator?
Good job 👍. Greetings Gert
Great layout. What are the footprint of the it?
Nice great job
Great work, already looks amazing. I like your enthusiasm and subscribed to your chanel. Keep up te good work! I am a gauge n train enthusiast myself, building a layout with original old material from the 1970s and -80s - some kind of a challenge, but much fun. All the best Valentin
Hello sir how long dimensions you track??? ☺️
Looks great!!
Just subscribed to your channel. Wow! Love this layout. Would you share your track plan? Just curious. Yours looks like it is in a space similar to mine. Was also curious if you used the Kato double track where you have two track operation or if you used individual and measured, etc.? Thanks for sharing. My dad was an engineer for the Western Maryland (after several merges now CSX) and we did model railroading when I was growing up. I'm now retired and wanting to get back into it!
Currently building a coffee table with removable staging. It is two levels with duel main on the bottom layer for continuous running. There is a 4% grade to a small township. The town is on a Ballon loop with a station and some industries for switching. The idea is to have something we can run trains in the event we have someone over. Or we can have a small ops session. My wife is a big driver for the layout and is keen to see it finished. One hold up is waiting for a locomotive to arrive. I am apprehensive about laying track until I know the locomotive can negotiate the layout. The other factor is using flexi track! That makes trying to come up with something that runs a little more difficult. I have to say the value of the buildings you have must be a couple of thousand dollars. In NZ money! The 13 DPM building kit cost us $430.00NZD Most of the cost is in postage sadly. The coffee table is practice for a bigger layout. Intending to model transition period California mostly late SP steam. Sadly in N scale there isn't much in the way of locomotives. So I will most likely be scratch/kitbashing locomotives. I admire the fact that you actually have something that runs! That city already looks amazing! I'm not sure what your plans for lighting are... But I think with alot of lights inside and outside the buildings will bring it too life. My father collected Hornby OO train sets. When he was away with the air force I think he picked them up... As well as many Lego sets. We are talking late 70s-early 80s. After he died I found all the train sets in his garage! Many of sets are broken in different ways. I think my dad's new nieces and nephews may have "played" with them. My wife and I have very recently been blessed with some very unexpected good news. When we have our child regardless of boy or girl railroads will be in their blood. My mothers father was a steam fitter for GWR in the UK steam has always been in my blood. And my grandfather always told me stories about servicing the royal train. Love the video and can't wait to see what you end up doing in the middle of the layout!
Nice idea. One of the windows on the first floor on the right hand side is placed on an angle. It looks very odd. See the video at about 8:33 onward.
DJ of DJ Trains is fantastic. His interior knowledge is extremely valuable. I really like your layout and your freelance approach. I use Kato exclusively. I just moved and have a great room for my model railroad. I am starting off all over again. I will be looking to you guys for information and ideas.
