Do it prime minister.a blessing from god.
The Walkley Foundation need to revisit their decision to grant Mark Willacy the award in light of the Federal Court decision on the disgraceful conduct of Mark Willacy and the ABC, failure to do so only brings The Walkley Foundations own reputation into disrepute.
He got this award for talking bullshit. His story about thes alleged war crimes belong in the fiction section of libraries.
Ka--Chinngggg!!!!. That always presides over the environment.
😍😘😍😀✌
Willacy should be forced to serve on Australia’s next tour of duty. Teach him some perspective on what our armed services go through
John 'make shit up' Pilger would be proud.
Mark 'make shit up' Willacy. Of the AB 'make shit up' C.
When does Mark Willasy goto prison for fraud?
Brave men have been smeared unnecessarily by the bollocks and bullshit this man has been responsible for. He should be ashamed of himself but there is little sign of any regret emanating from him or his superiors. In the meantime a good, steady, loyal, brave officer was painted as the villain of the piece when in reality this piece of human garbage being interviewed here is the cockroach in the story.
Mark Willacy has been exposed as a liar to promote his own agenda. He has ruined the lives of the brave men who fight for our freedom. He has edited footage to make it look like these solders were shooting at unarmed Afghanistan insurgents. He should never work as a "Journalist" again.
This Gold Walkley Awarded to Mr Willacy really is a very poor reflection on the standards of the walkley foundation. To the professional soldiers careers and lives he has smeared with that awful low standard research and writing. What a shambles of an award. What has come to light in that 3 years is the 1. Willacy ignored the contextualisation of the first person reporter in the Army Lawyer who reached out to Chris and Mark. They thought they had a better story and reversed the whistle blowers opinion and insights. 2. They edited so heavily the interviews with the US defence personnel that had worked with the Aust sf units, so as to present a deliberately false testimony from them about the conduct of the Aust sf units. This is key. it demonstrates a deliberate intent to mislead the reader/viewer. And it is unprofessional journalism. It doesn't make the most basic grade of standards of evidential proof. It was doctored to align with Marks preferred narrative. That's not journalism. That is fiction, and malicious slander. This award should be revoked. The information is now in the public space to show Mark Willacy doctored first person interviews and ignored the first person account of the key whistleblower that all of this material emanated from. That is what is in the public arena now in September 2024.
Cats out of the bag all right. So its now been proven its all a LIE. ABC will do anything to destroy peoples names and lives but only at tax payers expense.
How can the Walkley award website still have this travesty posted. What a disgrace. What is Kerry O'Brien's take on this?
I hope the award is removed you grub
YOU'RE A FRAUD!! You fabricated the entire story and even doctored the video footage to purposefully destroy a war veteran's life all just so you could win a trophy for 'journalism'. You are not a journalist. You are scammer, con man and you and your entire team should be charged and put in prison. You know who a REAL journalist is that ACTUALLY exposed war crimes? Julian Assange. You may have heard of him. He went to prison for doing his job. Perhaps you Mark Willacy should take Julian's place since what you did is a serious criminal offence.
Is this the Mark Willacy that FRAMED Heston Russell with FALSIFIED video footage and refused to apologise???? Will the Walkley Foundation WITHDRAW this award?
His parents should disown him
What we have here people is a poor excuse for a human being. Someone that would never have the courage to put on a uniform and protect their country. A person so weak that they feel the need to tear down those that will. Our veterans fought for all of us, even people like this little man. Willacy, you should be ashamed of yourself. Even now, when the truth has come out you refuse to acknowledge and apologise for your actions. But hey, you always knew what you were doing.

You are a bloody LIAR who should be stripped of any awards.
Incredible that this is still up given how disgraced Willacy has become. Literally, LITERALLY found to have fabricated and doctored false war crimes in order to sell his book. He should have spent time behind bars, instead his industry just shuffles him to another post like the Catholic Church with his criminal priests.

Except that his 'award winning work' is now put to question following ABC's loss in the defamation case launched by former 2 Commando Regiment operator Heston Russell. Glaringly, it takes a lot for the ABC to lose a case even when Russell was considered 'unreliable' by the judge. At the core of this was Willacy's lack of professionalism in reporting the Heston / November Platoon story. He was not able to join the dots which would've indicated Heston and his Platoon were not even in Afghanistan at the time of the supposed war crime Willacy reported allegedly happened. Don't take my word for it. Here is a legal summary of why the ABC lost its case (placing link didn't work so google: 'lawyersalliance' 'the first test for s29a of the defamation act' Heston Willacy - summary even has links to the appropriate pages of the Federal Court documentation on this case). Critically: - Willacy "did not take a ‘wide range of steps to be careful to distinguish between what was known and what was not known (s29A(3)(b)), interrogate and explain to readers the integrity of his sources (s29A(3)(e)), accurately convey (or attempt to ascertain) Mr Russell’s side of the story (s29A(3)(g)) and justify the concealment of Josh’s identity (s29A(3)(f)) … he simply did not do enough’ ([370]). Lee J found that if Mr Willacy had researched more widely and consulted with people with firsthand experience of what took place in Afghanistan then Mr Willacy would have been told of the implausibility of what he was writing." - Willacy also did not " ‘distinguish between suspicions, allegations and proven facts (s29A(3)(b)". One could interpret the Judge's findings as Willacy simply not doing his job as a supposed senior reported in the ABC. Lastly, the original source of the story, former USMC helicopter crew chief 'Josh' has come out after the trial and in an open letter apologised to Heston, and that his memory is not reliable. The DEA agent Brett Hamilton, whose interview with Willacy was used in the video versions of the report has also openly come out to say the final cut of the video interview pretty much misrepresented what Hamilton was saying (again, tried placing links but youtube didn't like it but they are both easily google searchable). Given all this, does Willacy really deserve this Walkley? In my opinion, all his work now needs to be re-examined and revalidated with a fine tooth comb - if for no other reason than to restore the trust of the Australian public in the ABC.
