It looks really steady, nice job. We used a Christmas tree stand that turns for ours, the speed works perfect but it's not stable at all and you have to be careful with it. I have a video on my page of our haunt if you want to check it out.
I bought a cheap ceiling fan. I modified the merry go round platform by drilling a hole in the center so the fan's light box would fit up through the hole. Then i used the existing mounts (where you would normally attach the fan blades) and mounted the platform to the fan motor. I also had to wire a dimmer switch to the motor because the speed of the fan "as is" was too fast. Good luck with yours!
