    #1 - Just snug the oil pump bolts then spin the pump, with the bolts torqued that pump is not going to move and it could fail. #2 - There are no dowel pins in the covers, get yourself a set of alignment bushings to center the front and rear covers, without them your covers and seals will be offset and wear them out. They are only 15 beans and worth every penny then once the covers are centered and torqued in place install the oil pan and torque that in place. #3 - That idler for the alternator will fail. With the load of the belt on that long bushing and bolt it will snap it right off. FYI - If you're going to use the truck spacing with an earlier F body it will work. I did it on a '88 but I used a LS3 water pump and spaced it out ($20), then I used a stock truck alt./ps mount and just shaved the upper ear off it and added a ICT Billet idler relocation kit, $34 and I was all done. I even used the stock P/S pump with a $15 adaptor for the high pressure line. Easy-Peezy. The only bracket I bought was a high mount A/C compressor kit. I did do a 5.3 in a '86 S10 with the short Corvette spacing, made it easy to fit the engine and rad in but the accessory drive was a challenge and not cheap.

    I just came into possession of a 1991 Monte Carlo myself, I’m having trouble figuring out well… anything about this boat. It’s missing an engine and I can’t seem to find information on engines that will fit. I can’t help but wonder if you might know something? Any engine recommendations?

    • @ScottsChaos
      @ScottsChaos Рік тому

      The engine in mine is a 350 V8. I'm almost positive (well depending on your mechanical ability) you could put an LS in it. I have been toying with the idea of putting one in mine. However I'm in the middle of a firebird build right now so it would be awhile. Is the outdrive on the boat?

    • @gabrielkarr8755
      @gabrielkarr8755 Рік тому

      @@ScottsChaos There’s like half of an out drive I would say. My boss bought the boat to use as a parts boat as it already had no engine and they didn’t want to pay to scrap it and I have always wanted a boat so I figured it would be a fun project since besides mechanically it’s not in bad shape. There’s no propeller but there is the big housing that a propeller would go in. I am a former helicopter mechanic so I have the mechanic aptitude, but I don’t know much about boats specifically.

      If I was in your position I would 100% source a 5.3 liter LS from a junkyard. And put it in there. Just remember to get the PCM wire harness and if a drive by wire get the tac module and throttle pedal.

      I have been told I should have included that part in the video. I apologize. I'm still working on being great at UA-cam. You put an adapter I'll link here into the city water connection. I only push about 15 or 20psi into the system. www.ebay.com/itm/293521669327?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=srz703y3RVq&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=fthbkm2wska&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

    Yoooooo how'd you wire that up? Lol it's freaking awesome

      Thank you!! It was actually a bit involved. I had to remove the plugs from the controller and solder on wires so I could mount the controller in the garage. Then just plugged them into an outlet.

    All that is great, but you didn't show HOW TO CONNECT THE COMPRESSOR!

      Oh man! I'm so sorry. I'm still trying to find my place on this platform and I seem to constantly get ahead of myself. I will do a quick follow-up video this weekend. Again I apologize.

      I appreciate your input. I'm still learning this UA-cam thing. The channel is Scott's Chaos for a reason. I'm all over the place.

    what was the total cost for the eva foam? Im trying to estimate for my 2002 bayliner

      I don't remember an exact amount but I'm guessing it was right around 100.00 bucks. It will depend a lot on where you get it and the brand you get. This stuff is pretty inexpensive but it in no way compares to the name brand stuff. Although, I have had good luck with it. As with anything. Prep is key.

      I have amazing children. I didn't get an opportunity to learn how to do these things from my Dad and I vowed to be the best one I could. Your comment is the best thing I could have come across today. Thank you so much!

    Like your opening graphics. The cranberry is a neat choice. Most going empire red or blue.

      Thank you! A friend of mine put that opening graphic together for me. It turned out great! I didn't want to do the really bright red and didn't even think of blue.

    I would have guessed orange or blue, but cranberry looks good!

      Thank you! I appreciate it. I went round and round on the color. Finally settled on Cranberry. I love it.

    Engine work is beyond my skill level, but I'm glad to see progress on the Firebird. I understand the time and money restraints, but keep trying!

      Lol. It's beyond my skill level too. But I'm learning and I'm having a ton of fun doing it. Just hoping for the best when it's time to start it.
