Pacific White Sided Dolphins at San Juan Island!
Pacific White Sided dolphins, also called Lags, are a species of dolphin that inhabits the waters of the north Pacific. They are very rare to see around the San Juan Islands as well as Southern Salish Sea, as they tend to range more north, making this a very exciting encounter.

There are a couple of boys here in the Salish Sea that are pretty famous for playing with crab pots, boat anchors, and even boats. One went viral on UA-cam several years ago for causing a small collision of a moored sailboat into another because he was playing with the anchor and moving it around, which caused the boat to move around. Orcas are curious in nature and sometimes play with things that they shouldn't play with, which is what we believe is happening with the population off the coast of Portugal.

I certainly don't blame Orca, especially for disarming a perceived threat, and hope no humans allow themselves to be harmed as a result of the Orca's actions. it is their territory, as much if not more than our own..... as they were here first and those are our rules..... supposedly. @@buzzlightyearandco Correct. In fact all ecotypes ignore each other. When Residents & Transients meet, they don't. They either avoid or ignore each other. Absolutely no contact. It's peaceful but not friendly. In captivity, any fights that break out are between different ecotypes. Residents seem to be more standoffish than the Transients. So thrilled to seem the orca swimming in the free open waters rather than in tanks where they have shorter lives, are separated from their families, grow ill, bored, aggressive, despondent, and never have fresh fish, deep dives to hunt, and die prematurely. Marine parks that profit from humans who watch orca, dolphins, Beluga whales, etc. do stupid tricks do not understand animals do NOT naturally do "tricks" and should be treated with respect- they should only be observed in the open waters where they live with their family all their lives. It breaks my heart to see them isolated from their real home- this is a wonderful clip and I shared it to my FB and Twitter pages. Thank you!
