And so, over the years, the young hero grew up under the tutelage of the dark lord he was prophesied to defeat. He grew in might and in magic, learning skills of both spell and sword under his adopted father. The boy in turn taught the dark lord many things. The joys of nature, community, and most importantly... love. The dark lord no longer looked upon the great kingdoms of the land with hatred and scorn. Instead, in them, he saw the light in his son's eyes, the smile upon his cheeks. He knew he could no longer bring himself to destroy all that mankind had wrought. For in doing so, he would also destroy the one person he loved most. And thus, was the prophecy fulfilled. The dark lord was defeated, not by battle and violence, but by love and a hope for a better tomorrow.

The Prophet: "He is destined to defeat you demon." Dark Lord: "He is TEN!! A literal child!! Where did you even find him?!" Prophet: "Oh some quaint little village far from our conflict." Dark Lord: "Wait if it was far from our conflict... Oh my Me. You didn't..." The Prophet: "His parents were too ignorant to understand the Child's potential, so steps were taken to ensure his destiny." Dark Lord: "You are never going near this child again, you are truly sick Prophet..."

I love the concept that the prophet is just an ex who’s sending people to kill the overlord

The Dark Lord would triumph over the prophecy of his defeat. The Hero was innately skilled, he defeated 50 goons in quick succession after being captured, and truly was destined to defeat the Dark Lord. . . but due to the complete lack of morality or patience of the Prophet, the Dark Lord was able to turn the impressionable young child against her. He told the Hero of the fates of his predecessors, portrayed the Prophet as a monster who planned to use him as a pawn in a twisted game, and gained the Hero's loyalty by killing her to protect him. With the only one who could stop him now his beloved adopted son, the Dark Lord expanded his domain, reigned for 40 more years, and upon his death had an heir to keep it from splintering apart. The House of Darkness would rule for centuries to come, ruled by Dark Lords and Queens just as strong if not stronger than their ancestor.

The Villain raises the kid and dies, peacefully of old age mind you, and the Boy inherrits the throne. Thus the Prophecy of the Tyrants end coming to a new dawn brought by the Champion begins!
