The Official Switch to South Poll Cattle
Переглядів 664Рік тому
After years of operation on the commercial side of cattle, we have sold all the cows off the farm and started over with 50% South Poll / 50% Pharo Red Angus cattle… Tired of getting 2/3 of the market price for our cattle we are hyper focusing on Quality not Quantity.

Does that Massey 44 have the optional hand clutch? I noticed you stopped the tractor with the baler still going.

Massey 44 does not run on Hayer very good PTO shaft too high not incorrect lineman you need live power so when you stop the Baylor keeps running the triple four Massey had live power not Ernie 44 had live power

This is awesome and congratulations on making the right decision. I'm assuming you've watched Greg Judy do his thing out of Missouri. If not, take a look at it and try to get to one of his events. He is knowledgeable, experienced and generous with sharing everything he knows.

Might have been a hard decision, but time will pay in the years to come. In the short 5-10 years of building a new herd, you'll be glad of the decision you made this fall. Overall, in 5-10 years from now, most everything we knew yesterday and today will be different as we are in the midst of a revolutionary change not just in our Country, but the world as well. If you paid off some debts, it was an extremely smart decision!!!

I have thought about using my Massey 44 hydraulics - the setup is different than what you have - the hydraulics go to the 3-pt and when disconnected from the 3-pt may be used on an implement. Not surprisingly, the fittings are non-standard for today's time. What modifications did you make and what would you have done differently?

that sounds like the gas isn't turned on or the sparkplugs need 2 cleaned 😮😮 that what my ears 😊😊 tell me and also it wouldn't hurt 2 take a hammer and 2 tap the carb 2 see if it clears up and runs any better at all and that also sounds like the timing is off U have 2 check that w a timing light next would be the sparkplug wires ,sparkplugs ,dist cap ,rotor button and old gas won't help matters none either that 2 will make it miss 😮😮 and have no power also 😊😊 OMG 1O 7 2O23

I sure will , it’s a experiment for sure , I’m thinking of using this early, as in early fall, September or so instead of grazing stockpile fields first I’ll graze this , I’m concerned that it will lose what nutritional value it has because we don’t get the quick Cold temperatures like Canada does where it can be below freezing in September … I’ll be sure to make an update though

I like it, im primarily goats with some cattle and had no clue what this plant was until i heard farmers complaining about it, so i looked in my pasture and noticed i have it and my animals keep it down so if its a palatable plant why do they hate it? Its gigh in protein and its also antiparasitic

I'm thinking of intentionally planting a stand of sericea lespedeza. Hey has been hard to come by and if we have another drought is going to be rough. How did your cattle end up doing on it?

    • @of-Israel

I do not think the calf is a full Jersey , it looks bigger boned . Maybe she was bred by a bull that they thought she would have trouble calving so they sold her .

Nice old 44. If you are lucky you may find the upper link that's made for them. They are built with a large oval right in the middle that allows the pto shaft to run through the oval as the three point raises and lowers the implement.

That had to be a 44 built Post 1953 as Massey and Ferguson did not merge until August of 1953. That would be the 44 Special. Prior to the merger it would be against Ferguson’s Patent for any Brand to use the three Point Hitch ( Ferguson System ) on Their Production Tractor. Ford learned that the hard way when They produced the 8N illegally. Fergieman

I would be very much benefited if you could tell me how much raw material it takes to make 1 ton of cow feed and what raw materials are used. If you please let me know. It would be nice to send my Gmail. Abuhasanat275@gmail.com

It’s like making your kids dinner every night rather than letting them raid the cabinets . If I had just turned them out in this field the clover would have been gone in the first 3 hours , now they get a little bit of clover everyday for the next month 👍
