Another POTA activation from Cedar Hill. 10m was basically dead, nothing heard. I found a few on 15m sideband, and 20m was crowded as usual.

Support your parks weekend for pota. Raining all day in Dallas, so I took the portable G90 with hamsticks. All contacts made on 20m. Nothing heard on 10m or 15m. I called CQ on CW, but did not spot myself. I wanted to see if someone would pick me up by checking the reverse beacon network. I received a hamalert with my callsign, so the signal was getting out. It was 20db with my 20watt G90. KI5WWT

Pota at Cedar Hill state park. Very windy day on the top of a hill. Hunted parks and contesters. No CQ called today. FT891 at 50 watts. Wolf River Coil with 102 inch whip. Did not spread out radials, just threw them out and connected to legs. Redodo 100ah battery used 60.2Wh / 4.7 Ah in just over 2.5 hours.

Joe, I really like the video and the information but I believe that you got the RST signal report backwards. Sent should be what he or she "sent" not what you "sent" and then what he or she "received". Plus in HAMRS you working on the info of the other station in that upper left-hand box. So it would make since that it's what he sent and what he received, or she. "Received" is the RST of your signal from the other station. "Sent" is the RST of the other station. I hope I didn't open a can of worms with this? and if I wrong I'm wrong and I apologize. Russ, SoCal W6DDM

    • @ki5wwt927

A good example is the WSJTX auto generated message like "FT8 Sent: +09 Rcvd: -11". Looking at my the wsjtx screen it shows that I sent +09 and I received -11.

A well known activator was filling up his gas tank after an activation and decided to clean some junk out of his car. Into the gas station garbage went the logs. After getting home he realized it and ran back to the station but the trash had been moved to the dumpster and he wasn't going dumpster diving. So no method is safe. Personally I prefer computer logging.

How do you power the radio with the Jackery? Is it a cigarette lighter adapter to power pole? Also, I thought the 12v port would only put out 10A and the FT891 uses about 15A+ if you are at 100w.

@ki5wwt927 yes, ssb is an issue. No one responds to me, but to be fair I never upgraded my call after getting extra so I'm less desirable. Have my ftdx10 at home...seems that I get responds from events more often than a random cq...I try to monitor web sdr and I do hear my voice. Time of day also and being warmer out makes it a little harder to get a return..I may find a park at try pota, I'm sure people hunt and will respond.
