Set in the colorful world of Damon Runyon’s mythical 1950s New York City with its underground dice-slinging rogues, glitzy "showgirls," and high-stakes romances, Guys And Dolls is a sparkling romantic comedy. We are transported from the heart of Times Square to the cafes of Havana, and down into the sewers of New York. The story centers on career gambler Sky Masterson who makes the bet of a lifetime to win the heart of “Save-A-Soul” missionary Sarah Brown and long-suffering nightclub star, Adelaide, laments foot-dragging beau Nathan Detroit’s 14-year failure to tie the knot.
Big, brassy, and timelessly exuberant, Guys And Dolls is an ingenious and hilarious tour de force, both in Frank Loesser’s irresistible music and lyrics and in its clever book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. Resonating with iconic songs including “Luck Be a Lady”, “If I Were A Bell”, and “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat,” this show, brimming with wit, charm, and a bushel of heart, promises an unforgettable evening at the theatre.
Nicole Tarcza, director of last season’s hit, Peter And The Starcatcher, directs and choreographs. Music Direction is by Paul and JoAnne Schubert; and Caleb Sheedy is the Assistant Director. Diana di Grandi proudly produces the show for Up In One Productions.

Can I just say that this show was amazing! I came on opening night with some of my family and was blown away! The acting was amazing and I’d say the production was even better then broadway. I hope to be able to perform in an upcoming production :)

This was an excellent play. I woke up for days afterward during the night with scenes from this show at the forefront of my mind. Very haunting, with a real "undertow," performed by seriously talented actors. Thanks, RPAC, for such an unusual ride!

What I've always been taught growing up in Colorado: If you can replace white with black, or any religion with any other, and sound like a Nazi or a member of the KKK, you're doing something wrong. On Whiteface: The threshold is a little different, because invoking "whiteness" brings often maligned non-whites into performance whiteness. Which is only reserved for white-passing persons, and allows them to sometimes generate the benefits of whiteness. On white-humiliation: No one can be held accountable for the color of their skin more than you can throw a lasso around the moon. Learn from history, make better decisions. You very well can't change the truth of history, even if it feels lost. Never make people feel inferior for something no one can control. Dehumanization effects us all. Life is basically a one-way ticket and all of our choices matter. Even the people who don't know or don't care.

I really want to know how fast they needed to turn Princess Fiona into Ogre Fiona
The one where donkey talks to her at night is just a stand-in and Fiona says her lines off stage (I believe, thats what my cast did in high school). Then, at the end... very fast. We had her run off stage at the wedding, and people cleared the way. Maybe 3 or 4 people were back there, ready with the green makeup and gloves and clip on ogre ears to clip on her wig. It was wicked fast. It's maybe 30 seconds to 1 minute.
