Paced Bottle Feeding
A breastfed baby should be paced fed with the bottle so that the baby doesn't develop a "flow preference" and then begin to reject the breast. This video shows exactly how to pace bottle feed an infant in real-time.

    its so cruel. its just a passive feeding, the baby cant control anything. With breastfeeding babys can control every suck and flow rates etc. its an active feeding controled by the baby. Bottles are a cruel instrument who lead to several health problems as mouth breathiness. or middle ear infection, the children learn to swallow incorrectly because the tongue position is incorrect. When breastfeeding, the tongue lies outside the mouth. The tip of the tongue belongs at the top of the hard palate, the bottleteat presses the tongue backwards and downwards. The ear trumpet can no longer be ventilated due to this incorrect swallowing process, and babies often develop middle ear infections

    What about all the air the baby is sucking in ? He is might have cramps or whatever you call those things. The baby will be full of air and I think is very uncomfortable for the baby and he will cry.

    The nipple should always be filled with milk. Let the baby suck for 2 minutes and burp. That way air doesn't build up in the abdomen.

    Slowing the flow is NOT good because it allows the baby to suck too much air and gives them gas.

    I never knew babies could go on a nursing strike until I did this with an exclusively bottlefed baby. I pace bottlefed her and she’s hated it 😂 (she was a gobbler too), and she would refuse the bottle until I started to give it to her and have the bottle held so it was a fast flow😅😂

    It only worked for us until 2nd month. Then baby developed and knew how much it wanted and if you manipulate bottle to much it won't eat. This advice is actually hurting more not telling parents that they can't control how much baby eats after about 7th week earliest it could happen. You will see one day baby refuse feeds and you will be puzzled why. Paced feeding encouraged conflicted feeding behavior , when naby takes few sips and pulls away from bottle. It's eats less and snack feeding so you basically have to feed baby every 2hours or so even when he is 4months , praying he will eat enough to keep his weight grow steady. I stopped believing videos like this and actually all videos on YT. Start reading Rowena Bennett. It resolved most of our troubles.

    Due to multiple circumstances beyond our control, my five week old son is exclusively bottle fed. He was spitting up a ton and having coughing fits, often more than one in a feeding! I tried a slower flow nipple which helped but didn’t eliminate the problem. Since starting paces feeding, he spits up so much less and only has issues swallowing if I stop paying attention! Thank you so much for this video. You’ve made my first-time-mom life a little easier :)

    Thankyou so much for this video. I am going to try this method. I have a 5 week old son, for first 2 weeks, I tried breastfeeding him but HATED every second of it, the idea of BF made me nauseous, upset and angry, so switched to formula and bottles. I hold him in my arms and try to feed him, but he screams and refuses it. He is crying and screaming all day, rooting into thin air, eating his fist, but when he is offered a warm bottle, he refuses it. Tough shit, must be sooo difficult being a baby, sleeping and pooping all day 💩😂 I will not give into his demands, he will take it when he is hungry enough. I try difficult tips as well, nothing changes and keep offering it all day. When the tip touches his lip, he roots and attacks it, but 2 seconds later he spits it out... (at first I tried expressed milk, he still refused, so he clearly hates the bottle)

    Don't try this at home. Unless you want to fill your baby's stomach with air and make him cry for endless days and nights. 'the air won't hurt him'. Yeah right.

    • @saramations
      @saramations Рік тому

      It doesn't hurt at all, actually. When you eat and drink, does your stomach fill with air? No, not at all unless you're eating too fast. 😂 What does hurt is your baby chugging down milk, over eating and then the baby's body can't digest food fast enough so it leads to reflux, gassiness, and episodes of colic. I've been pace feeding my 7 week old son because he was having terrible tummy issues and spit ups, and he's eating so much better and safer now. Also, that's what burping can help with if you're baby is struggling to burp.

    So what’s the point of using a anti colic Dr Browns bottle if you’re just going to lean the bottle back and introduce air to the feeding?

    • @helpmyspaghettiiseatingme
      @helpmyspaghettiiseatingme 2 роки тому

      Honestly I personally see the “anti colic” inserts a complete ripoff, as a newborn I babysat we ALWAYS used the anti-colic bottles paired with anti-colic/ sensitive similac formula (at the time) and no matter what she spit up and projectile vomited all the time and cried all the time

      A baby isn't gassy because of how he's fed in this video. A baby is gassy because of what and how much he eats. Especially the "what" part. And of course because his tummy is still learning how to work properly.

If I only knew that when I was trying to heal my broken nipples and had to bottle feed. Baby wouldn’t take my boob again. Lucky she did after trying this. But I should say don’t pull the bottle out, just paced.
