"Surge Protector" is a very specific meaning, everyone likes to call every Power Strip a "Surge Protector" but not all power strips have surge protection or the same level of surge protection, that said looking up the specs this unit DOES have 2000J Surge Protection (J stands for Joules) which is on the minimum side considered good enough to protect high end computers, like for example the $20 Hyper Tough Surge Protector from Walmart has 2440 Joules of surge protection. Also the USB ports on this thing are a JOKE by modern standards, the USB-C port maxes out at 20 watts and if you use all 3 USB ports it drops to 15 watts, I mean thats fine and dandy if you use iPhones, but us Android users can utilize far more powerful chargers with some phones capable of 45 Watt charging, the latest version of USB-C PD supports 240 Watt charging, you can charge supported laptops with 10 times the power this USB-C port can do through a proper high end device, I bring this up because at this point USB-C PD is pretty much expected to be a minimum of 65 Watt charging so it can charge the USB-C powered Macbooks and other low power laptops so you can eliminate the wall charger for your laptop, which is usually one of the biggest bricks that are why you need outlets spaced apart.
