literally not only the best film ever and literally me
I very much think we should not imagine Nietzsche desperately performing CPR on the fresh corpse of God. Rather he would be examining the wounds, he would take the opportunity to find out what weakness God possessed that must be avoided in whatever eventually emerges to take God's place. Going back to before it happened would not spare us the inevitable end. At best we buy more time but the revived god would still have the weakness that allowed us to kill him, and we would not be so changed as to not attempt another deicide.
i love this

One of best video essays I found about Taxi driver on UA-cam.. truly underrated
I appreciate it man! I'm happy it got the views it did!
relating to travis isn't something you should be proud of though, the movie is a cautionary tale about people like him :p i mean it's fine if you do relate to him but at least recognize that he's flawed and shouldn't exactly be glorified, we should all be trying to be *less* like him
@@crystalliscence That’s essentially the conclusion of the video. Many of the film’s enjoyers relate to Travis’ directionless and solitary life. Yet, I make it a point that this self loathing life style is not sustanible, which is why viewers find catharsis in Travis’ rescue of Iris - By the ending of the film Even Travis is trying to be less like “himself”. Travis is a conflicted character but so is all of man.
this is a piece of art
Gem on the tube
Gem Alert? Thank you :)
Why does this song end?
Constitutional monarchy. Is that not similar to Hobbes’ conclusion to have power invested in a strong monarch (or something akin to that)?.. Then can there not be abuse by the monarch? How about Trump becoming president again and then decimating the powers of the lawmakers, judiciary and other bodies, that is supported by the GOP and the money that supports this?
Aristotle: "All paid labor absorbs and degrades the mind."
i feel the same when whenever JP talks about jung. it's like he has this incessant need to idealize every idea he thinks is profound to him, rather than just taking the author at face value and adhering to a strict analytic guideline (such as jung did with his empiricism). in short i'd say JP has a habit of putting a lot of unspoken words in dead people's mouths.
@@env0x Most certain, and that is a very good point. Maybe someday I will have to make a Jordan Peterson is wrong about Jung video.
@@knollfields it's a video idea that's been on the back of my mind for awhile haha. but if you made one first that would make me even happier. i was only going to make one because i'm sick of people learning about great thinkers like jung and nietzche through the lens of a bombastic midwits like JP. and this is a great start i hope your channel blows up man :)

I mean, it is presented as such isn't, quause I was thinking about it not long ago, how Mr. Peterson stumble in his word. And his eyes lately as well same for his daughter, I can see they looking at themselves in the third person. And not only that, there's territory/soil, for a lot of good junji's folklore. Anyway, what a great video. Thank you, have a good day.
success for my buddies, success for my friends success is the only thing i understand head back home to the place i grew up give my medals to the ones that i love ill chase harvey through the door in the wall he says 'never catch me, never miss me at all,' drool comes down from the corner from his mouth i say, 'i love you, harvey, you cut it ouuuuuutt.' i love winnin' ,baby, i want it all i wanna prove that i got the balls harvey keeps on, playing with his food, he doesn't understand what 'big boys' do. he wakes up in the middle of the night, i run in, and turn on the light. run my hands through his short black hair, i love you, harvey, i don't care.
Neither is Peterson making a point about mere ‘utility’, nor is he talking about the ‘death of god’ brought doom. JBP trying to guide people to try and overcome a life that feels like having no purpose is exactly what Nietzsche describes as the necessity of the emergence of ‘the free spirit’ and the ultimate aim to become the ‘Übermensch’. Read his books, take a minute to think about the topic u want to make your video about, and try to not focus on just insulting a man u don’t understand, and maybe then your content is actually worth shit. But maybe you’re just a hater who only thinks he’s smart and wants to keep it that way. The pain of realizing that you err in your ways is hard, I know. But some humility would definitely do you some good. Man what a pathetic comment section.
This song is the neurodivergent "gifted" children who got burnt out and don't know where they went wrong Literally me
I thought the same when listening to some of his interviews, he continuously paints Nietzsche as a guy who apparently mourned the death of god and saw it as a disaster and somehow he (Peterson) came to the conclusion that Nietzsche wanted everything to go back. You don't even have to be well read on Nietzsche to realize that this is not the case and his advocacy of something outside of religion was always present throughout his texts, it's not a secret or an interpretation that is hard to understand. Great video.
He doesn't missunderstand him, he is far too educated for that. He simply chooses to cherry pick and distort the segments that best fit with his ideology.
Yep. His job is to twist narrative.
It's easy to see it that way, but in a sense you are not entirely correct. Although he stands for something, he does encourage to be critical to all ideology. Therefore his message is more complex than what you have concluded.
@@НиколайЛамбертHis job is not to twist, but to interpret. However, that doesn't mean you have to like his conclusions.
Yay! Perhaps he - Neet Chöd (Tibetan plateau) - simply pointed at the Phoenician cosmogony (CS 1.6, 'Phoenix Connexion'), and its central Heart (Shor/Lorkhan), meaning 'God is Death'. Note: not 'dead'. But the original meaning got lost in translation, as the subsequent cultures overturned certain words and concepts to fit their own theo-political purposes. And he being a linguist knew these subtle nuisances. 'Start with the Greeks' was never the right path. And I believe he suggested this cryptically. For those who are able to hear.
Peterson isn't exactly wrong, he instrumentalises Nietzsche towards his own separate agenda/philosophy.
.....Which separate philosophy has nothing to do with Nietzsche. You can read Nietzsche through any lens and cherrypick aphorisms that match your own moral system. That's fine, but it's not actually reading, thinking about, or talking about Nietzschean philosophy. It's just your own. So it is dishonest to claim that it actually is the author because the original phrase originated with him, when in reality it has very little to do with him. The Nazis did the same with their propaganda. Should we therefore associate Nietzsche with Nazism? I don't think we should.
@@cam609lee I think its partly gatekeeping. And is also wanting Peterson to be wrong. What if Peterson understands perfectly and chooses to use it how he wants to in Will to Power? It would be perfectly Nietzschean.
@@cam609leeThere are misreadings of Nietzsche that are simply wrong. Factually incorrect and not within the scope. I don't think this is. But it might be. Would have to think about it for a lot longer. But I don't think its crystal clear at all.
I think your thumb would work better without the text. It's a good vibe that just gets cheapened by the "wrong"
Thanks for the feedback, might change it without the text
@@knollfields sure thing, just one opinion. I've done the same thing myself plenty of times
I mean, you breaking down Peterson by his own word, dismantling, like "What is Jordan Peterson" and breaking even through the lies that Peterson don't that he is frailing, would be even cooler, might do It, can picture a really fun and through point by point, with a lightness of how silly, entertaining and fun it all is if you can just relax an see how things really are. Mostly only achievable for me after some good breaking down of my mind, body, therefore soul. Isn't the same for y'all?
"My patient friends, this book desires for itself only perfect readers and philologists: Learn to read me well!" Friedrich Nietzsche, Daybreak: Thoughts on the Prejudices of Morality He was well aware that he will be misinterpreted.
Epic video. Loved the images, videos and sound queues. And yes Peterson is pseudo intellectual grifter that uses philosophy and psychology to push his low grade christian narrative.

Is the statement "everything is change" not also subject to change, there by being contradictory?
I see what you mean, and there does exist a paradox in Heraclitus. But I think, as Nietzsche says, beyond good and evil, we all operate within these paradoxes
@@knollfields There is a way of solving it though. It's to say that some things don't change, namely consciousness (you can enter into a state of consciousness that is pure, without any sensation, thought or feeling). I also don't think there's any reason to suppose that even the material world is completely in flux. There might be very long term patterns that always repeat.
Run my hands through his short hair
There's just much things to be done yet - especially for Nietzsche reader - don't you think?
Yes, we have a lot to do, but work for work's sake is not a Nietzschean value; leisure for leisure's sake is.
Well put. Carry on.
(this is so beautiful sibs I LOVE HARVEY 💔💔💔)
I want to be someones harvey
Travis is a man who no doubt saw and did terrible things in Vietnam and was forever changed. Taxi Driver is probably the greatest character study film as I can’t even think of any that come close to it. De Niro, Scorsese, Schader and the films producers should have gotten every award they were up for, such as Academy Awards, Golden Globes, BAFTAs and so on. Jodie Foster also deserved the many accolades she was up for and won, though I think Piper Laurie was equally good in Carrie for Best Supporting Actress. Regardless, time has shown that this film is one of the greatest and most important films ever made, Oscar or not. It is a shame that Scorsese wasn’t even acknowledged for an Academy Award for Taxi Driver and had to wait 4 years for his first nomination with Raging Bull, which he also should have won Best Director for. This is one of my favorite films of all time and this is a great discussion of the film. Great job man, take care!
