The simplest of simple and so effective. I fish this fly as a nymph with a little weight added to the line. I learned this one from a guide on the Big Hole River in Montana. It really catches fish!

The Leech - FISH IT DEEP

You don't need complex flies to be successful. This fly is another really easy one to tie. You have to fish it deep so you might get snagged up, but that's alright, because this one is so easy to tie. Special thanks to the #Moclub in #missoula . You'll catch more fish on slim flies. This is another easy one to put together. Put a split shot about 16" above it on a short leader. Strip it with a slow retrieve. This is what were going for: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damselfly#/media/File:Blue-tailed_damselfly_(Ischnura_elegans)_nymph.jpg
The Train - A Floating Caddis Pattern - EASY TO TIE!
Переглядів 1 тис.11 місяців тому
I'm not really into flies that are difficult to tie, so the beauty of this one is its sheer simplicity. It has an excellent look and it's easy. Use this one on rivers with a spit shot or on lakes in the slop line. This video also includes tips on buying supplies as well as a few fishing tactics you can use. I also answer a couple questions asked in the comments of other videos.

This one works like a charm on Montana's Georgetown Lake. Again, easy to tie and a killer little fly. It works great just under the surface on a dead drift. Nice fly & I refer to it as a searching pattern, stripped or under a indicator works,I first came across it on a video from Caddis Fly in Oregon over 10 years back, still produces, tight lines & bent rods 🤙 🇺🇸
I shared the video on Facebook hopefully it will get some subscriptions for you. Please keep making videos I always enjoy them.

Hi Matt! Thanks for saying and thanks for stopping by. I got it covered for you. Wayne.
Never heard about worm ... Thank you for sharing your secrets.
My pleasure. Thanks for stopping by!
Nice looking worm pattern thanks
Thanks for saying so. I appreciate it.
I wanted to let you know that I tied your damsel fly (first time fly tying) and tried it last week when I was at GT lake over in Rainbow Bay). I landed a total of 8 good sized (18-22 inch) rainbow trout. Thank you for your tutorial!
That's awesome Jared! So glad to hear it. Keep giving 'em hell. WG
Think that fly would work back east ?
Hell yes...anywhere.
I wanted to tie a couple up but when I checked I only had olive crystal flash.you call for peacock.does the difference matter ?
...for the body, sure, you could certainly use olive crystal flash.
@FishheadVideos I was thinking the wing with olive crystal flash instead of peacock crystal flash
How many decades you been tying ?
Started tying when I was 26, I'm 72 now, so I've been at it a long time. Still love it! Thanks for asking.
@@FishheadVideos working on 5 decades....I can tell
Thanks for the shout out Wayne, really enjoying your work!
Awesome
Good to see some of the old patterns that still work get a little recognition. Good job Wayne!
Wayne that is quite a hill that is formed when wrapping & tying off the hackle, how can that be improved so the wrap will not slide forward & distort the silhouette?
Thanks for stopping by! The answer to your question is available in this video: ua-cam.com/video/OohLgJKb8yg/v-deo.html
I just found your UA-cam channel and subscribed. Thanks for sharing the videos
what bobbin do you prefer?
Appreciate the question. The answer is available in this video:ua-cam.com/video/OohLgJKb8yg/v-deo.html Thanks for viewing!
suggest asking for sub and like at the beginning of your videos, roughly 60% of viewers drop off at the 30 ish second mark.
I subscribed! Interesting fly, it would make a good hopper dropper set up I should think.
Why name a fly after a guy who killed people and is living at SUPERMAX?
Nice
Great fly!
Actually a pretty simple tie , I like it . I’m sure Ted is proud. I would keep an eye out for any letters from Florence CO especially if you didn’t get approval to use his name . He’s kind of funny like that . Thanks for sharing .
Thank you for the video! This is a great little micro streamer/nymph pattern and I have taught this to my adult ed classes in Stevensville, thanks Wayne!
Very cool! Glad you stopped by Wesley. Glad you're out there giving them hell. :-)
Hey, quick question: How do you decide to counter-wrap your wire vs wrapping it the same way as your body? I usually counter-wrap unless I'm trying to match a body material that already has segmentation.
Great question! Interestingly, I believe, if you wrap the under materials TIGHT, there's no need to counter-wrap. I've fished hundreds of my flies for a long long time and do not have issues with the underlying material unraveling. So the answer is...if you feel that counter wrapping is needed, I'd say go for it.
Just discovered your channel, and I'm digging it. I like how you explain that practice won't make you perfect if you don't correct your mistakes. When my son is training for his Special Olympics sports (track & field, hockey, and bowling) I tell him "Practice makes champions. Nobody is perfect." Keep up the good work!
Wise words! All the best to you and your son. So glad you found our channel! Glad you like, too!
How am I just finding these videos.. the shankill butchers!!
Glad you like Marshall!
Such a great quick little caddis pattern. Awesome thanks for sharing

Awesome
Nice fly and technique. Thanks Wayne for the video and instruction.
No problem 👍
sorry but I do not like the way you tie flies . bye
Thank you for the videos. I started using the Poly Yarn and it saved me a lot of money buying bulk.
Glad I could help!
ring neck pheasant feather are also blue. You said copper wire ?is what your using silver?
Nicely done! That's a full synthetic version of Roman Moser's Balloon Caddis.
2# of marabou! Yes, That's certainly a lot.
Yeah, That "Pigboy Crabshaw" response on the stream would definitely earn a "WTH?"
Yep, fish do not count. Two sets of legs is impression enough.
Glad you agree James. Thanks for stopping by and watching.
Love that bug!!!
Wayne love your channel and patterns looking forward to trying some of them. I was just in a March Brown hatch a few days ago here on the Henry's Fork wish I would have had your emerger! Keep up the good videos!!
Thanks Joe, I really appreciate it! Give 'em hell!
I tied a couple dozen of these just last week gray tail and wing with a very light tan body, killer fly Wayne. Good to see you my friend😃
Good to hear Steven. Hope you had some good luck with the fly!
Wayne,,great video, and kind thoughts about Frank. Impressed with Troutfitter and I’ll add to box soon….
As always, a good tie Wayne. Casting time is coming a little at a time.
Dan Delekta owner of Beartooth in Cameron MT is the originator.
Thanks Wayne for sharing. Interesting stimulator, nicely tided.
Glad you like. :-)
I suggest all your social media should have the same name so you are easier to locate on youtube. Build as Fish Head videos but very difficult to bring up under that.
Always enjoy the videos. What brand of hooks are you using and where do you get them from I don't recognize the box?
Hey thanks for stopping by. Those hooks are Maruto from Japan. They were sold under the name "Targus Hooks" in the U.S.
Always good ties my friend!
Thanks!
