Magnificent tone! Gorgeous Les Paul! P90s sound awesome! 😎
Thanks for taking the time to listen and leave such a nice comment, much appreciated! 😁
Stupid 😂
Sweet tone and playing, I have a question, I own the OX and looking into the sv20 with matching cab, The ox on its lowest setting seems to take quite some of the top edge of the sound so I was wondering - since the amp is supposedly super loud -can you crank it into distortion with the ox through the 2x12 cab and get a reasonable home volume/tone with he ox for home use?
Hi there @foesherino77, thanks for watching, your kind words and your question! First of all, you are 100% right that the amp is super loud. I'm fortunate to be able to play at a decent volume at home and have used a Mesa Boogie Lonestar for years without any attenuation and could get a great lead tone at a reasonable volume. Despite the Marshall being less powerful than the Boogie, when I first got it I had no attenuation and found the amp to be literally unusable at home. The reason for this is that the Marshall circuit gives that classic distortion tone by driving the power tubes, by which point it's deafening. The Ox was a game-changer and the amp is now completely usable at home! I don't run the Ox at it's lowest setting with the Marshall, I typically use it two notches back from maximum, and into a 1x12 cab. There is some loss of treble when attenuating, but some of this might be due to the speaker not producing as much volume, which can often have the effect of reducing top end. I haven't found this to be a problem, as you can always add a bit of treble or presence to compensate. When running the Ox at it's lowest setting (that still makes a sound) into a guitar cab, it can sound a bit fizzy, since the speaker is not getting enough signal to produce much midrange and bass. I don't think it's fair to blame the Ox (or the amp) for this, it's just a matter of physics! The direct recorded signal sounds great. This SV20 is my first Marshall and it took me some time to get used to it. I usually play Fender style amps (Mesa Boogie and a Princeton) and this Marshall is a totally different beast. Now I really love it, as the amp has a very classic sound and records extremely well. BTW if you aren't interested in the cab modelling and direct recording features of the Ox, there are other attenuators that can tame the Marshall at a lower price point (more for the benefit of others reading this comment, since you already own the Ox). Sorry for my slow response, I didn't get notified about your comment. Best wishes for making your decision! Andreas
Nice
Thanks very much! 🙂
Beautiful tone. Thanks.
Hi Shalom, Thank you so much for taking a listen and your kind words! 🙂
@@andreasvangreunen my pleasure.. I had not heard this tune in about 5 years. We had actually played it in our band and later it got dropped from our sets.. Hearing it again reminded me of how great a tune it is..Plus your take on it was just gorgeous and got me excited to bring it back to our set lists... Our singer had never done it (someone else always sang it in our group ) and she is excited about trying it. So, thank you so much! Shally
@@shallyshal1 it's a beautiful tune that's great to include in a set list. Did you know that it was derived from Kenny Burrell's 'Midnight Blue'? Best wishes for introducing Moondance into your performances, I'm sure the audiences will love it!

I love this recording. I think I played over 10 times. My kids enjoys it as well.
Hey Alvin, Great to hear from you again!! Thanks so much for the kind words, I'm so glad you enjoyed the recording, and your children also have great taste! 😁
Do you notice fret buzz when unplugged? Also what pickup height do you have set up?
Hey Jesse, Initially I had a bit of fret buzz on the low E, which went away after I raised the bridge saddle slightly. I have just checked and have a very slight buzz high up the neck (17th fret and over). My pickup heights (measured to bottom of strings) are: Neck: 5mm low E, 2.7mm high E Bridge: 2.8mm low E, 2.4mm high E
@@andreasvangreunen thank you so much for getting back to me! Is your pick up height set to personal taste or that’s just how it’s always been haha. Fender spec is 2.4mm bass and 2mm treble on the neck. But I’ve got it at 3 and 2.5. And that’s while fretting the last fret when you measure as well right?
@@jessesmith2906 you're welcome! With this guitar I didn't change the pickup heights at all, and I bought the guitar new. After raising the low saddle height slightly I was 100% happy so didn't want to mess with it! The heights I gave you earlier were measured with open strings. BTW I had a fret buzz problem on another guitar, which I got back yesterday after a Plek setup. It came back perfect, can definitely recommend it if you are having buzzing issues!
@@andreasvangreunen super helpful thanks Andreas!

Hi Keith, Thanks so much for taking a listen and leaving such a nice comment! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂. Some days my guitar doesn't want to behave, they are temperamental beasts...
@@andreasvangreunen I appreciate your reply. I am retired and have been putting about 3 hours a day into playing and it's coming very slowly. It really makes me realize how much work those of you who are so good have put in. Keep putting out the videos. 👍
@@keiththompson5193 Hi Keith, I'm very sorry for the slow response this time, for some reason UA-cam didn't notify me when you wrote your previous comment and moved it into a spam area! Must have been a bug with UA-cam, as I usually receive an email when a comment is left. I'm really glad to hear you're getting the time in retirement to make this journey. It's a wonderful thing to put your energy into! Progress does feel very slow for most of us, believe me I get very frustrated a lot of the time when it takes me a while to learn a tune or I'm having a an off day when improvising. Setting manageable goals certainly helps (e.g. learning to play 1 or 2 tunes before worrying about playing a dozen) and if you can, it would be great to get into doing some recording. It's amazing what's possible these days with a computer and microphone and having something tangible like a recorded song can give a real shot in the arm to one's motivation! BTW what style of music do you enjoy playing? Keep up the playing and enjoy your guitar! 🎸
@@andreasvangreunen I really appreciate you responding to my comments. Telling me a bit about your struggles gives me more incentive to keep playing. I would keep it up anyway but it helps to hear a professional tell about the same things I have problems with. I like to play pretty much anything that I have enjoyed hearing. I really like your jazzy playing. I play rather simple versions of some of the standards like Autumn Leaves, Misty, etc. There are so many great lessons on the internet and I am currently working on triads, combining them with arpeggios and scales in order to improvise. I want to thank you for your advice and for inspiring me. Keep up with your wonderful playing. I'm not the only one inspired besides just the enjoyment of the music.
@@keiththompson5193 Thanks so much for your comments and very kind compliments! They really mean a lot to me and I am delighted to hear that you have enjoyed my recording. Autumn Leaves and Misty are excellent tunes to be working on and working on triads and arpeggios is a very useful area of focus. At one point I approached jazz standards in a very scale based manner but once I started to focus more on the chord tones by applying arpeggios things started to sound a lot more like jazz! I found a very useful exercise is to land on the 3rd of each chord on the first beat of each bar, and using a looper pedal to limit the exercise to a few chords at the beginning also helped me a lot.
love this
Really appreciate your feedback, thanks! 🙂
Nice job
Thanks a lot! 🙂
Do you still love it .? Thinking about getting one…great playing
Hi there, thanks for having a listen and leaving such a nice comment! What are you currently playing, and would this be your first Tele? I absolutely do still love it, I have owned many guitars over the years and this one is truly one of the very best. I'm mainly a Gibson player, so feel at home on a 24.75" scale and 12" radius. The Tele feels completely different, but it adds a different voice to that of the Gibsons. I've had a few Teles in the past but didn't really bond with any of them, but this one is a keeper. Each of the pickup positions sound really good, and the guitar sits very well in a mix (two fat sounding Gibsons can sometimes be a bit much). I'm not sure if you've seen the video already, but the following is an example of how it pairs with a Les Paul: ua-cam.com/video/ajeSXigtP-s/v-deo.html Really hope you do get one and enjoy it!
Toll umgesetzt. Macht Lust auf mehr 👍

Funky, great playing and also informative!!
Thanks Topi, I'm really glad you found it useful! :-)
Amazing sound, Andreas. How do you like that Original 60's Tele? Is it worth the price?
Hey Fernando, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! For me, this Telecaster is a keeper. I'm quite fussy with guitars and have had many experiences of not bonding with particular instruments. In some cases, I make a lot of tweaks to a guitar after buying it in order to try to get it to sound and play how I want. With this Telecaster, everything was great straight away and the pickups are exactly what I was looking for. I have had 3 Telecasters at various stages in the past but this one is by far the best. It is of course more expensive than some of the other Telecasters, and it is surely not 3 times better than a Player Series Telecaster. I think it is worth the price though, and am extremely happy with it.
@@andreasvangreunen Just what i thought. Have been binge watching reviews of this beautiful Tele. Your sound and personal experience just confirms my expectations. I better start saving a lot of money haha. Thanks Andreas, keep up the good music!
@@fernandomay7244 haha, I know what you mean about binge watching reviews! I was in that position not long ago and the video that really pushed me over the edge was the following: ua-cam.com/video/Y0XatUaoHtw/v-deo.html I hope you get your Tele very soon! Which colour would you choose?
@@andreasvangreunen Yes i checked that video, more than once. What an amazing sound. Your Lake Placid Blue is stunning, but i think i'd pick the fiesta red!
@@fernandomay7244 The fiesta red is a great looking guitar! I wish you much enjoyment with your future Tele 😊
hello, how is the lollar 50s wind P90 compared to the orginal Gibson les paul P0?
Hi! I would describe the Lollar as more open sounding. P90 pickups are sometimes described as having a sound in between single coils and humbuckers. With this in mind, I would describe the stock Gibson P90s that came with the Les Paul as being closer in sound to humbuckers, with a very thick sound. The Lollars have more clarity and it is even possible to make the neck pickup sound like a very fat Telecaster!
That's jaam man!! 💥
Thanks Richard! :-)
